Amazing place that is unrivaled for its pageantry and beauty. Giant hotel perched above one of the best beaches in France. Inside and outside one of the greatest hotels in the world. Has everything you would want starting with an amazing entrance and grounds with a pool, putting and chipping green, kids playground, art, outdoor cafe.....inside is the most amazing lobby and restaurant.
I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. The hotel was built for Napoleon the 3rd and so it speaks about its style. all staff were really friendly and helpful which should be normal in five star hotel. we stayed in Ocean suite which has a small terrace - the suite had enough space, beautiful bathoom but on the terrace you could smell the restaurant ans other bathrooms because the chimneys ended like 20 cm from our terrace. one evening there was not enough water in our bathroom and I had to wait for some minutes with shampoo on my head. the brekfast was rich - fruits, cakes, cheese, pastries.... one evening we went to the pool restaurant and overall we were disappointed - the tuna was really overcooked and when I complained about to the waiter he only said "sorry" and brought the bill with the full price for the tuna. the hotel has great location for exploration of Biarritz and all local restaurants which I recommend. if you want a sunbed with a view at the pool, book it one day in advance. The customers are mainly Russians.
This is a beautiful hotel on the beach. The rooms are very nice, as is the pool area, spa and restaurant area. The property really is incredible, though also quite expensive. The location is great because the hotel is on the beach and within five minutes walking distance to all of the restaurants and shopping areas. The concierge was helpful in recommending restaurants, hiking areas and answering any other questions about Biarritz or the surrounding towns.
This hotel is quite expensive, but we enjoy the stays we have had so much that we feel that the price is more than worth the experience, and we keep coming back. The Hotel facilities are superbly decorated and maintained in an impeccable fashion. The staff is extremely professionally friendly. The main restaurant is among the best we have experienced, and the restaurant by the pool with a view over the main beach of Biarritz, also has superb food and a great atmosphere. The swimming pool is large and spotless, and the "sun deck" overlooks the main beach, as does the pool-side restaurant. The Spa is supposed to be very attractive, but, during our stays, we have not tried it out, since the pool and sun deck have catered to all our needs. Our favorite hotel at the present time.....
Everything about this hotel is exceptional the former summer palace of the empress eugenie it. Dominates the town and sets the benchmark for hotel excellence nothing is too much trouble for the staff in this most elegant and beautiful hotel Royalty stay here .if you like comfort and elegance on the seafront with a world class spa this is for you We have had a wonderful week here and cant to wait to return!
This is a real palace à la française. The building is magnificent and the situation is the very best one in Biarritz. The staff is very attentive and super nice. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast is delicious. The outdoor swimming pool needs a bit of renovation but the place is altogether extremely charming and attractive. There're some discussions to renovate this palace but I hope it won't be a full one: this place needs to keep us soul and old wooden floors. For sure you'll love it.
Disappointing service. Our order was forgotten - so we had to remind the waiter. Then when we ordered the bill our waiter simply disappeared - presumably at the end of his shift- so we had to wait and ask again for the bill after a further 20 minutes. Not the sort of service you would expect from a 5 star establishment especially at those high prices.
First time to the Basque region and stayed in Biarritz at the famous Hotel du Palais in late June 2017 for 5 nights and it was all beyond expectations. It's a grand old dame of a hotel, so expect the few squeaks as you walk along the wooden hallways, but it's the people and service which make all the difference. The rooms have character and they are not the modern-themed rooms we are accustomed to in Asia. The high ceilings with trimmings, and the decor of the rooms, instantly give you a feeling of grandiose, and one of living like an aristocrat. My best advice, pay for the upgrade for a sea view room, the Atlantic waves and the coastline with the nearby lighthouse and city are spectacular. The restaurant Villa Eugenie, named after Empress Eugenie, as the wife of Napoléon III, is simply one of the best restaurant in the city. Our group had a formal welcome dinner at the restaurant and tasted the Napoléon III menu. The service, the view, the ambience, and the food were so outstanding, it is still talked about and referred to by our group today. Thank you to the very professional team of staff who went beyond our expectations to deliver us a truly memorable dinner service on June 23, 2017. THANK YOU. And it doesn't stop there. Every morning at the breakfast tables, we were treated, not only to unrestricted views of the great Atlantic Ocean and waves, but exceptional service and unparalleled great French foods. Living in Asia where there are many foods quickly produced for profits, it was very refreshing to taste milk products, eggs, chicken, fish, meats and fruits that have real authentic tastes and flavors. One example of the attentive service, was one morning when I picked up a glass bottle of yogurt, but unaware to me, was that it was only half full, perhaps indicating it was off and not right. I was not aware but the restaurant manager came over to my table and lowered her sight to spot the yogurt and told me to change to another. I have never ever received such attentive service, and it was never over-bearing or intrusive. THANK YOU. Another THANK YOU goes to Mademoiselle Maya Gilles, who greeted us on the first day, and while my room was not immediately available, acted swiftly to give us immediate access to the spa facilities so we can shower after a very long travel from Hong Kong. All of the staff at the Hotel were great and efficient, despite a few hiccups, like a missed morning call for a couple in our group one morning, banging noises one morning, and it would have been first class, if the staff would have also remembered our names when greeting us. Overall, an IMPRESSIVE PLACE to stay, and the restaurant views and service unmatched in beauty, just like Empress Eugenie. William Siu Golfing54 Club Hong Kong
This is such a beautiful hotel now. Used to be home to princess Eugenie. Princess Katherine and Will were there when we were. The facilities are beautiful and fantastic if you can afford it. On the end of the "Grande plage" dominating the beach this now hotel is a must to see and imagine how it was back then. Even for a meal, it's a worth experience.
I am yet to stay at the hotel but I had a lovely birthday dinner at the hotel restaurant. Everything was very well presented and the service was perfect. The wait staff all took time to explain every dish we had and even where the food was sourced from. The head waiter also gave us details about neighbouring towns in France that we could visit and go sight seeing. I really have no complaints at all- the ambiance, the decor, the spectacular views of the sun setting over the Biarritz ocean, the lighting, the soft music playing in the background... everything came together nicely to create an extremely lovely and unforgettable evening for my birthday. The leg of lamb we had was to die for. I'm definitely going back!
