Disappointed. The building states the finest 5 star quality but the service and amenities are 3 star. Room is incredibly small and awkward. Toilet is in a separate tiny closet behind the main door. Bath in a separate tiny room. I can touch the ceiling without effort. My previous visit to this hotel yielded a vastly superior room. Window is a single "port hole" in the roof looking to parking area. Fifth floor. Likely one time storage converted to guest rooms. No turn down service. No water bottle in the room. No fruit in room. No chocolates. Guests pay additional €35 for use of pool. Breakfast was surprisingly limited and average. No fried eggs or omelette . The hotel seems to make the false claim the actual building had a direct tie to Napoleon 3rd. Not correct per existing structure. I made two protests to reception who dismissed my concerns. Upside: beautiful building, common areas and reataurant. Very elegant and refined. Glorious views of the coast. Staff are smartly dressed.
A beautiful hotel with lovely furniture and finishes. The pools (both inside and out) were a treat and the views were fantastic. The location of the hotel is very central with easy access to the beach.
You have to stay at the Palais at least once in your life! It's such an institution - synonymous with glamour and Biarritz glitz. The rooms are spacious, the service is professional and efficient, the décor is truly palatial and the views are to die for. The wifi is good, the parking is free (!), and the location is perfect as a take-off point for strolling a circuit up around the headland, past the Aquarium and old port and back through town via the cafes and boutiques. You just have to be prepared to pay for this experience......oh, go on! It's only once, and it's worth it!
Just arrived too see if we can have a drink and take a picture. The guard stopped at the gate. He was very arrogant. He told us that it was a private place, we could not get in. A place too avoid. Apparently only for the grand chic
Perfect place for resting and having a real French Palace experience in the Napoleon III style. I'm recommending the Room Service, very professional and looking into details, for a Romantic dinner in your room.
Gorgeous old hotel of stately proportions. We didn't stay here but enjoyed a lovely lunch soaking up the atmosphere and views. Highly recommend a visit here for lunch or afternoon tea when in Biarritz.
Awesome stay. Loved our room. Beach view. Beautiful bathroom and room. Great property, food, pool, beach, unbeatable location. Great reception staff, pool staff and the pool restaurant. Just fantastic- go there. Don't think twice. Thank you
This historic monument has a very special place in the history of France, the history of the Basque region and certainly in Biarritz...a more modest version of a palace on the outside covered in red brick but a prestigious and elegant interior with palatial service on every level. The rooms and suites while detailed with classical architectural decoration are in need of a minor refurbish but still make you feel like you deserve the best and are cared for empirically ....the service is impeccable, the breakfast buffet is rivalled by few and the bar and restaurant are delightful and top quality...the pool and the spectacular views, rain or shine, are breathtaking and the hotel spa with Guerlain products is a small paradise on earth...it is a palace and you feel it every minute staying here...despite the wait for a new management group to oversee some due renovations...but do not hesitate to reserve a spot in the sun, the history of the Royal order and Basque in the local delights in this magnificent palace.
If you want the experience of staying in a former palace, this will be a good choice. It's grand and gorgeous. Our very spacious room faced the ocean. The food is superb, the location excellent, and every member of the staff was professional and courteous.
The hotel and Restaurant are located on the beach in the Center of Biarritz. The location is excellent and the service second to none. The hotel is the former residence of Napoleon III. It now makes an exceptional hotel.
