Pros - very clean hotel, location close to the Aerobus stop so easy to get to and from the airport. Close to metro so it was easy to get to the main sites. Hotel is in a residential area away from tourists. BBC World News plays on the TV so a familiar channel for any Brits staying at the hotel. Breakfast was good and varied - fresh bread, cheeses, fruits and pastries. The woman at the desk who worked from the afternoon to evening was kind and helpful. The young man working in the breakfast area was also very attentive. Cons - the air con was very bad so I would advise not to stay in the summer. We stayed when it was 28 degrees and we found it difficult to sleep and woke up sweating in the night. The air con only has three settings (1, 2, 3) and we could barely feel it on us. We spoke to the man who works at the desk from the morning to afternoon, he asked us (rather condescendingly) if we had been sleeping with the covers off, like it was our own fault we were hot at night. The view was not good - our window faced an interior courtyard where you could see other windows therefore you had to keep your curtain shut at all times to prevent other people from looking in. Rooms were quite small and simply furnished. We chose this hotel because the triple room offered an extra single bed rather than a sofa bed. However, the 'single' bed was more of a pull out bed with wheels on it. It was comfortable but not what we had paid for. I believe the cleaning staff changed the sheets every other day as my sister transferred some makeup onto her pillow on the first night and the stain was still there the next day after the cleaners had been in the room. Basic amenities in the room were not topped up, such as soaps and tissue boxes. They also charge you 2 euros per locker to store your suitcases in after checkout. Overall, the price of this hotel is too much for what they offer. I wanted to leave a comprehensive review as I was in two minds about this hotel based off the previous reviews I had read about this hotel. Do not stay here in the summer. Do not expect great service or a big room.
We arrived very early. After 24 hours in the hands of Singapore Airlines. The charming receptionist was wonderful and stored our luggage and hurried up room preparation. He's a gem. Room unfortunately had been used by a convention of smokers. Disgusting smell. Bathroom excellent. Bed comfortable. Breakfast is varied, fresh and delicious.
While visited it was under renovation, a smell of paint was spread all over. Rooms are slightly small but extremely clean. Location is good for those who like to walk they can reach plaza espanya, Las Ramblas and many other attractions on feet. Staff are very helpful and in the lobby you can get discounts cards. Breakfast is good.
We booked this hotel based on the location. Near to Urgell metro station and Universtat station for Aerobus. Rooms were spacious and neat. We went in early April so it was little hot and we had difficulty in sleeping in the night. The AC can only be switched on or off and no way to reduce the room temperature. Breakfast was good. Lots of restaurants and super market near by so no worry about food. The hotel may be good in winter but not recommended for summer time.
Nice residential neighbourhood 15min walk from city centre. Very very basic hotel, which is fine, but front staff was cold, somewhat rude and unwelcoming, that left a sour taste. Rooms and simple, small, but neat and clean. Go with no expectations and you will be fine!
The hotel is very nice, always clean, greatly located! The rooms arent the largest, but considering the star level, it is more than worthy, bathroom was modern and minimalist style, with all necessary amenities available. Very comfortable bed. Great breakfast, with loads of variety (hot rechaud options always changing from day today!), well displayed. The breakfast gentleman was always working hard while being nice and helpful. Keep him! The only issue we had was with the lady in the recepcion. Had to say "good morning" loud and clear and wait 5 min. until getting another one back, and when asked to make a reservation for a restaurant (we had asked the previous day if they could do it if we needed to and they said absolutely) she staired at us: - "well, what's the number of the restaurant?" - "oh, we don't know, but it should be online... do you need us to check?" - "yes, i cant do it, because I have a lot to do" Weeelll... just when you think that would be on the to-do-list of a recepcionist! But we werent bothered by having to go look for it ourselves, it was more how it felt like we were crossing the line and asking an exceptional favor... Anyway, apart from this not-professional-or-nice-at-all lady (this particular receptionist - others were always nice!) and the fact rooms lack a mini-bar, it is a great choice. There's a supermarket next door (literally). I'd reccomend it everyday!
Pros: ¤ Location..2mins walk from Urgell metro station. Plaza catalunya and las ramblas at walking distance. ¤ Nice clean and spacious bathroom. ¤ Baby cot included as per request. Cons: ¤ Window latch was broken, a person could climb/ fall out if window left open. Unsafe with a baby accompanying us. ¤ AC unit not yet activated and it was already warm for mid-March. Heating unit was all that we had and due to the unsafe window couldn't keep that open at night. ¤ Staff not accommodating to change room or get window fixed. Even would not change the dirty/smelly electric kettle in the room until we complained 3 times.
The hotel has very modern furnishings - hard to believe its only 2 star. I did not try the breakfast so I cannot comment. We were there in April - the weather was good, not too hot. The room though did get quite humid during the day (the aircon did not work). The room also did not have a mirror besides in the bathroom, nor any view really (even though it was sold as a room with a view). It was 2% extra with a view so not too concerned about it. There was some noise when other rooms flushed their toilet which was weird. The beds were very comfy, and the bedding/bathroom linen was great. Lots of room to hang up clothes and there is a safe as well. Area was quiet, and windows were double glazed so most nights were very quiet. The location is great, loads of cafes and restaurants around. And Urgell station is super close. Good stay overall.
Lovely hotel in walking distance of all main sights. Rooms were spotless and a nice size with lots of storage space. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only minor point was that breakfast was a bit disorganised which meant having to wait for cutlery, butter etc at times.
This hotel has been remodeled beautifully, very close to La Rambla; Plaza Espana; metro and city Center. Very good Breakfast with a wonderful hostess Cristina. Manager Juan Carlos, very helpful and nice. Rooms are small but clean, bathroom very nice.
