Silver Point Hotel

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

gorgeous location on a beach used by world class wind surfers - romantic beach couches to recline on overlooking the view - our room was on the other side of the road and right next to a sweet little pool - felt like we were very isolated - restaurant had helpful and amusing staff but lackluster drinks and food - only a 15 minute cab ride into town - cabbies at the hotel very accommodating - took us to restaurants and wonderful island shopping and waited for us - then gave us a tour of part of the island on the way home - companions kept awake by singing frogs - we loved them

Overall nice place, friendly people and the price is right.Everything is just far away. But because of that we spent a lot of time just the two of us. :)

We stayed here for our honeymoon. My husband (I love saying that!) and I are only 26 years old, but are very well traveled, not to mention, I am a stickler for hotels. I won't stay anywhere with "oven-mit bed spreads". After reading reviews from different websites, we landed on the Silver Point Hotel. As I am the picky one, I will give my candid review of out stay at the hotel. The staff was so amazing! From the second we arrived we were taken care of. The reception desk staff was beyond accommodating - they were able to do currency exchange on site, booked a rental car for us, had taxis available within minutes, booked any tours we wanted, etc. Not to mention, this was all with a smile and a genuinely positive and kind attitude. I gave a 4 on cleanliness and comfort mostly because I am spoiled. The room was clean, however, as we were on the beach everyday, I would preferred my sheet be changed halfway through my stay. The staff, upon checking out, did assure me that should I return (which we definitely plan on doing), they would be more than happy to change the sheets more often as long as it's requested with the reception. As far as comfort goes, I really was hoping to have a bathtub. The shower was really nice and had an open air feeling, which definitely added to our island experience, I just really like taking long baths. Amenities were great! Free wifi was available as well as onsite restaurant, bar, two pools, a spa, 24 hour security/staff, kitchenettes with actual plates, cups and cutlery, as well as access to the beach. The location was absolutely stunning! It is situated on the southern most tip on the island where the Atlantic and Caribbean meet, so the waves are a bit rough for swimming, however, there were tons of people para sailing and kite surfing - not to mention, there was a killer breeze. It also allowed for absolutely breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. As it's not on the main stretch of the island, it was much more quiet and secluded, which is just what we were looking for, but still only a 10 minute drive from all the action. I would DEFINITELY stay there again! We are already planning out next trip with our family down there :)

Great one night stay. 45 minutes to Bridgetown! Could find no nearby shopping but great price and property.

We were there for one day as a stop over to St. Vincent. I wish we had longer. The deck area is phenomenal! We ate at the hotel every time, it was some of the best food of the trip, and includes local foods. The room was small but it fit what we needed. There wasn't too much else in the immediate area, but taxis are cheap. Next time we travel we definitely want to spend more time here. Also, we were there on Low Season so it was almost empty, which we loved - just about had the place to ourselves!

Kind & cordial staff. All studio/rooms have great ocean views, but the balcony views are exceptional.. If you are into water sports - you've come to the right location.!! If you are looking for a remote area, away from town, that offers relaxation, sunbathing, good food, while enjoying a breeze by the sea or a dip in the pool....... this hotel is the perfect place!! .

We went to Silverpoint for our honeymoon. We were upgraded to an ocean view studio. Everything was perfect. Staff very friendly and nothing was too much. Restaurant food is pricey but delicious. Banana pancakes and french toast are amazing! The beach water is a tad bit rough but still lovely. Hotel is 15min from oistins where there is easy access to local food and miami beach on the number 11 local bus or a 10usd cab ride away. Barbados is gorgeous and I can't recommend silver point more. Can't wait to get back! !

Excellent and cordial service from all staff. Great views from beachfront rooms. Perfect location to go kite surfing, wind surfing, or just watch participants in action.

EXCLUSEIVE BEACH BEAUTITFUL WATER ROOM OVER LOOKING THE OCEAN GREAT STUFF WILL GO BACK

Definitely recommend renting a car if you are going to stay here. I thought we'd be able to surf at the resort/in close walking distance but its really not a great surf spot (thought it is a great spot for kiteboarding). I loved it and thougth it was a great value, but would say its more of a 3.5 star than a 4 star really.

This was our second time to the silver point and it was just as awesome. Beautiful location , great service and good food. The hotel is away from all the craziness of the gap and Bridgetown which adds to the relaxation. I plan on returning.

We booked this hotel specifically because we wanted to learn to kiteboard from the kitesurf beach shop located next door. We stayed in an oceanfront studio on the 3rd floor. Views were phenomenal and we enjoyed watching the kiteboarders and kitesurfers out there all day. These people are hard core and you have to be really good (level 3 IKO) to kite here without having a lesson. The wind was great every day for several hours a day. We went Jan 24-30. They say wind is best Nov-Mar+. The hotel was ok though. The bed was fine. Pillows were plentiful but very hard and lumpy. The air conditioner blows directly on the bed and you can't adjust the vents. Finally at the end of the trip, we thought to tie a sheet to the bedframe (4 poster bed) to deflect the air. That was a big help. Room was fairly clean. Water is ok to drink. There is a full size refrigerator in the room, along with a microwave, some dishes and silverware. We didn't eat at the hotel's restaurant since it was kind of expensive. We brought all our own food and that worked out fine. If we go back, we will probably stay here again because the location is great for what we want to do but I do feel it's kind of expensive.

Amazing location, set along the silver sands beach. Perfect for a get-away, especially if you want a not so crowded hotel/beach. All the amenities were available, did not have that sense of a rush to be "first come first serve". Silver sands offers a lot of water sports as well, for example, kitesurfing, kitesailing, paddleboarding, etc. Transportation to and from the hotel is cheap, as long as you utilize the public buses, which cost USD $1 to get to bridgetown/oistins, rockley, hastings, etc. If you want to go further north or go to crane beach, just take a transfer at Oistins for another $1. Very safe, and everyone seems helpful. We even took it back at night (though it was difficult to see, but the local people let us know when to get off).

This was a fairly decent hotel...but it's not in the best area. Furthermore, besides the fact that it's the closest hotel to the airport (the Silver Sands is being renovated when this review was created), there ARE better hotels out there. Overall, not a bad experience, but the food was not fantastic by any means. If you do stay here, I recommend eating elsewhere. The pool, the beach, and the bar are nice to have, though. And security is almost always present, which was nice and made me feel relatively safe during my stay. If you're going to stay here, do so for the kite surfing, body boarding, and the waves in general. If not, there are better hotels to stay at in Barbados.

No wifi access available in room or throughout complex only one designated location. Resort is not accessible to any major retail shops or stores and hotel shop has extremely overpriced items. I will not be staying at this resort ever again. The staff was very friendly however.

This hotel definitely isn't 4-star. First of all, there was no-one at the guard booth when I arrived so that I had to go wandering around the property trying to find reception. Upon getting to my room, it smelt strongly of bleach (a bit overwhelming), and the "partial ocean view" was actually a nonexistent ocean view - unless I went outside to the patio (which was right next to the main thoroughfare, so completely lacking in quiet or privacy). The day beds on the deck are a lovely idea, but once someone's been on them they're soaking wet and smelly. The deck also shakes markedly when someone walks past, making it less than serene for reading or relaxation. The water on the beach is a beautiful colour, but very rough and the beach (and nearby hotel deck) were plagued with sandflies (I have the bites as souvenirs). The bar/restaurant staff were noisy when present, and then sometimes unavailable -- I had to call room service three times over half an hour before someone finally begrudgingly answered. After all that, the food was just OK. The flat screen TV only carried about 14 channels with poor reception, and none of them were local Barbadian channels. I'm always interested in experiencing local culture, so that was a disappointment. The pool, however was quite lovely. Next time I go to Barbados, I will be staying somewhere else unless the price for this property goes down.

The staff was friendly and quick to respond to our needs. Silver Point is not terribly far from some questionable neighborhoods, but it stayed pretty quiet while we were there, and there was a security guard out front for our entire stay, 24 hours a day. The living room is open air and is not air conditioned (as is most everything on the island), so it can get quite warm and humid in there. The bedrooms are cool and comfortable. The restaurant is nice and has views of the crashing waves of the Atlantic. Unless you're a kite surfer, you probably won't get much use out of the hotel beach. The water was too choppy for swimming while we were there. However, it will only take you about 8-10 minutes to get to the beautiful and calm Miami Beach. As Silver Point is a bit isolated from any restaurants or attractions, we rented a car and found it very useful on trips to Harrison's cave, Flower forest, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, and Speightstown, which would have been quite expensive by taxi. Make sure to get a GPS with BajanNav, as there aren't really street names anywhere.

The hotel was very nice, but it was just too far from the towns of interest. And, it really had no beach to swim in. If you are a kite surfer then it is great, but we were ill advised by your customer representative. Instead of being so remote and isolated, we should have been advised to stay at one of the hotels on the West coast or near St. Lawrence Gap.

The hotel was great. Our room was perfect, although I wish there was a tub or at least a jacuzzi by the pool. The king size bed in the loft was very comfortable and the balcony from our "partial ocean view room" was spectacular! Stacy at the bar was so welcoming and fun! The only downside for us was that when we wanted to go exploring it was an ordeal. Not a huge issue but a small inconvienence but luckily there are "reggae vans" all over and for only 1 dollar will take to where you want to go. Overall, I am very happy we stayed at the silver point hotel. Oh and if you want to go when its not too crowded, early May is perfect.

I just returned from a weekend trip to Barbados with a few of my girl friends. We opted to stay at Silver Point Hotel because the website made the hotel look inviting and the rates were hard to beat for what we assumed we would be getting. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find that our two partial ocean view rooms were anything but that. The way the hotel is situation, the main part is adjacent to the beach/ocean while the other part of the hotel is across the street. One of our rooms, the ocean view suite, was one of the rooms in the section across the street which meant we could glimpse a bit of the ocean from the balcony but that was the extent of our view. The partial ocean view room was in the main section of the hotel, however, the only 'partial view' this room boasted was of the parking lot below-- no ocean view whatsoever. We immediately complained to the women at the reception desk who was able to move us into two rooms with ocean views in the main section of the hotel which we were extremely grateful for. The positives is that the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood but within a short drive to places like St. Lawrence Gap, the ocean views are beautiful, the lounge chairs, the cabanas downstairs are great to have, the staff were all friendly, and the food and drink each time we ordered were great! The down sides, besides the disappointment with out initial rooms, was that the the light in one of the rooms never turned off and the toilet was broken and took over a day for the staff to fix the problem. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and was pleased with the hotel for the price but would probably spend more to try Ocean Two or the Crane next time we visit the island.
