Barbados, my favourite place in the world so far and am a lover of the south coast, Maxwell Beach area. Our usually resort Sea Breeze is undergoing a complete refurb until into next year. Visit back since this time last year and due to a new resort not yet being built close by(!) we were placed at Mango Bay Resort in Holetown, west coast side. Have visited Holetown before and is a very pleasant town, stepping it up for outside resort places to go. Mango Bay is nice enough, some days better than others, staff work very hard and do their best to please and the rooms are clean and tidy. Double glazing should be considered for the rooms facing the bar/restaurant - very load usually from tanked guests and over excited staff in conversation until at least 1am.... The system for booking dinner AND lunch is a must I suppose on the basis there is only one dining area for all meals. Would like to see how they cope with a full house of guests in high season. Dress up and dress down days applied for evening meals on certain nights..not quite sure what was achieved from this when a collared shirt for the men was a requirement, no change to the food, staff or decor... My biggest winge was the fly control being out of most of the time. I know we are in a hot country and this happens but i believe a cleaned surface with a clean cloth will keep the worst away. When there are more flies at the beer pump than guests with empty glasses somethings not right! A blue light fly zapper may have saved the day. The beach, nice little strip that changes shape every day depending on how hard the sea has moved the sand over night and consists of the usual passing/staying/need to move on and leave me alone vendors. I did see a security person once in seven days aiming to keep the vendors off site but they will do their best to pester you from a far. If they can't sell they will pester you for drinks, food and your flip flops. Maybe the bling wearing and seeing the same guys partying at Friday Night Fish Fry in Oistins changed my mind in being charitable. (Comparing now..) regardless of being a public beach, Sea Breeze and other similiar resorts look after the beach area directly outside of their resort, the sand is cleaned every day and raked over and just kept nice. Not so at Mango Bay..anything and everything left or washed up is there to see and stepover. Shame that.. Would I stay at Mango Bay again..not by choice but maybe thats because I have become a fan of being down south...and it would have cost and extra £4k for the four of us to stay here!!!
Just back from the best Holiday/Honeymoon ever!! The hotel very kindly upgraded us to a superior room!!! Stayed from 2nd to 16th sept and we loved Mango Bay, the attention to detail was amazing. Personalized menu on the first night with champagne, card, rose petals, balloons and banner in our room!!! It is a small hotel but this made it much more personal. Everyone from the cleaners to the managers go out of their way to make sure every single thing you need is catered for each day. Big shout out to the main man Chevaz who works in the bar, or (Chabazzz) as we called him!!!!! All the staff at the hotel are fun with a great since of humour and very polite. I have never seen so many staff look as happy and always smiling and signing. Pedro, Peter G, Danielle, Sonya, Cheree, Tre, Michael. Sorry if I missed your name, so many to remember. The food is great and varied with breakfast buffet style and lunch and dinner swap between a la Carte and buffet, massive thanks to the kitchen staff for giving us a great taste of local food and of Course to the front of house staff for serving it all. Peter from the pool bar makes sure your glass is always full (every hour is happy hour!!!)..He also brings cold flannels down to the beach and around the pool for you to cool down in the sun. Such a gentleman. Miss Mango Bay already!!!!!!!Will defiantly return again soon I hope The Kevin's x
First impressions great , upgraded to a superior room which was awesome with a pool view , pool opens at 6am so don't worry about the noise from the bars more from the kids jumping and screaming at 6am , the bar is small so when it rains there is no seating at all 8pm just before meal times also struggle for a seat and we are in sept out of season ! Location great and central . Food here is hit and miss just like the dress code , on buffet nights you can wear tailored shorts on al a cartel night you need trousers , quite times and we ran out of fries and on a BBQ night ran out of steak , but an hour in to both meals fries and steak available so felt sorry for the early eaters bar ran out of Coca Cola and you must be a lover of the carpenters , eagles and Dolly Parton , all on repeat , the team here are great and a special mention to Kate and celleste took us on the Harrison caves and en even better tour not to miss would be oistions fish fry day but be prepared to consume lots of rum , the complementary boat trip was fabulous and we got to swim with turtles , overall the hotel and location was better than good the small things could have made it great !
The hotel and the staff remain as excellent as they have been for our 3 prior visits. However, just a word of caution; the average age of the guests is falling, and for our last 3 days of our stay last week, we were invaded by the extended family from hell. Although 3 of the 4 children were of an age where they should have been at school, by 6AM they were shouting and screaming in the swimming pool. The parents also communicated with them at full volume. The hotel manager has changed, and this one is not a people person, so was unable to deal with the many complaints about the unsociable behaviour. Pedro, from the restaurant, has the people skills to be a more appropriate manager. Booking during term time should mean a lack of rampant children, so at the very least, the hotel needs to change the pool opening hours so that there is no chaos prior to about 7.30. At the bar, do not be restricted to the printed cocktail list - their BBC (banana, Baileys and Coconut milk) should be tried for sure. Make sure that the hotel knows of any special occasion (birthday, anniversary etc) as they will make that day special for you.
Stayed from 31aug to 14th sept and I am speechless when it comes to Mango Bay.. This isn't big it small and very personal. Everyone from the cleaners to the managers go out of their way to make sure every single thing you need is catered for. I renewed my vows whilst there and the girls Liane Keisha and Erica were absolutely priceless. I never wanted for anything. The memories will stay with me forever. The food is by far the best I have had in any hotel I've visited. If there isn't anything you fancy on the menu if you tell them they will cater for you with something you do like. Pedro from the restaurant is a pleasure to see daily and his smile and attitude are contagious. Peter from the beach makes sure your glass is never empty he's a diamond.. they even bring cold flannels down to ththe beach for you to freshen up in th heat.. we left the hotel for a wander around and was astounded by how many locals pass the time of day with you and shake your hand and say hello. We drank a few times in the "one love" bar just outside the hotel. Lovely lady who runs it. She actually lives in the back of the bar. I could go on forever it is truly amazing. I cried when it was time to leave as my wedding girls Liane and Keisha came to see me off which was lovely but it made my departure even harder and I cried all th way to the airport. I have made memories for life and will go back without a doubt. Absolutely faultless
What a beautiful location and the hotel is amazing. The food caters for everyone and like I said before the staff can't be more helpful anything you want or need they can help with. The activities you can do are really good like paddle boarding kayaking catamaran to swim with turtles water skiing. This is definitely the most perfect place for relaxing and having the best holiday. I will definitely go back.
If you going for relaxation this is the resort. Not much to do out. When you book excursion they get cancelled last minute. Hotel staff brilliant. Chevaz & Sonya brilliant when to lengths to keep us entertained. Great street partying on Sundays worth visiting. We had a great time celebrating our 25th anniversary they did so much complementary room upgrade balloons, banners & champagne in our room. Bed filled with flowers. Breathtaking. Rooms are 5* very spacious. An announcement by the mangers happy anniversary to us & dinner with our table decorated with confetti. Brilliant resort. When you go out you must vist Sandra's lay by her food is exquisite best Carribbean food I have had on Sandy Lane. The only downside is is get harassment on the beach by vendors. Who don't leave you alone especially the feet man beware!!!! He is annoying. Gets offended if you don't have a massage. I never had one. He got offended and said I like white women anyway. I found him racists. Only cause my husband had to say stop harassing me she said no....the entertainment isn't very good could do with more Carribbean & up beat music what ppl could dance to. Food la carte was good over indulging. Brilliant hotel.
Celebrated our third time staying at this superior hotel on our favourite Caribbean island - the stunning and friendly Barbados.We arrived with our fellow 'wrinklies' on our wedding anniversary to be greeted by our daughter, son in law and our 4 month old grandchild who had already enjoyed a week. It was typical of the warmth of the Bajans that our rooms were upgraded, a chilled bottle of champagne awaited and a celebratory meal organised with its resident photographer waiter, who demonstrated artistic flair -Peter G - thank you. The Mango Bay remains a very good hotel having an envious position on the platinum coast. The food is of excellent quality and variety and we defy anyone to find another in its class. What makes this hotel is of course its staff - their courteousness and genuine wish for you to have a good holiday. Thank you to Pedro for organising the flying fish, to Danielle, Cindy Ann, Cheree, Tre ,Peter ( bar) and to my favourite Maxine ( hope your hand is better ) and also to the chefs , breakfast cooks ,cleaning and pool staff. We would also like to thank members of the management who chat to you each and every day and most especially to thank Elizabeth for trying to ensure my husband's safety when he chose to swim with the red flag flying ! Not a man easily deterred (1 day only following the tail end of the Hurricane Irma). We will be back. Kindest regards Sally and John.
My Wife and I have just returned from a two Week stay at this Hotel, what a marvelous experience it was. The Hotel is a small, intimate spotlessly clean one with a brillant Staff. We were upgraded to a Seaview Room (312), it was a spacious Room with a six foot double Bed. It had a mini Bar Fridge stocked with soft Drinks and Water which was replenished every day. Food was very good and the Staff were probably the friendliest and most helpfull we have ever encountered, nothing was too much trouble. This was our first visit to Barbados and we were hugely impressed. Having visited much of the Carribean (Cuba, St Lucia, Tobago etc) we found Barbados absolutely superb and are already planning our next visit. We would certainly hope to visit the particular Hotel again, would be delighted to recommend to anyone palnning a trip to Barbados. It is not possibe to commend every Staff Member, all were excellent but watch out for "Peter B" and "Chervez" at the Bar, Peter brings Drinks to the Beech and Pool, both were exceptionally good and friendly. Stayed at the Mango Bay Hotel from the 26th August from to 8th September 2017 .What I thought was great was that a member of the team showed you around the hotel and bar area also you are taken to your room and shown where the safe is . Food was varied and of excellent quality. Sometimes it's a buffet service and on other days it's waiter/waitress service. The entertainment was also excellent. This was varied also. All members of staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
