Was about to give this hotel 5 stars when suddenly there was a loud noise from a fan then the smoke came into our room through the vents. Horrible smell found out later that the ministry for Health are going around trying to smoke out the mosquitos with a mixture of diesel and an insecticide. When out later we witnessed clouds of smoke all along the road. The workers wear masks and protective clothing but everyone else is exposed to the smoke. It’s sticky and horrible, hard not to breathe in. I could still smell the smoke when we got back to our room. I heard the fans again next morning at 6am though the smoke was not as bad for us I could still smell it. The mosquitos have survived and are still biting as normal or maybe even more so as the smoke seems to irritate them rather than kill them! I think it has damaged the crickets though as they stopped making noise earlier than normal after the smoke. There is no warning when this smoking is to be carried out so you could be lucky and not experience it. It is not the hotels fault but another reason for people to stay away from the Worthing beach area which is sad as it is a beautiful beach.
We absolutely love this place. A friend recommended this place to us nine years ago and we love coming back here. Centrally located to the Best of the island. Walk 10 minutes to St Lawerence Gap 10 minutes to Rockley Beach both with two of the Best Restaurants, Or public transpertation within steps. Coral Sands has a beautiful White Sand Beach with Beautiful Turquoise Water. Rooms have a Kitchen if needed. The staff is fantastic. We have looked at other areas and this is where you definitely want to stay. Can't wait to come back. Can't say it enough LOVE this place.
We just left after a week stay. 1/22/18 - 1/29/18. I have no complaints and only raves. Room: Comfortable beds, furnished perfectly. Full kitchen which we found quite useful. Room service was very good. Kept the place immaculate. Beach: Area was very nice. Signed our chairs each morning and spent our mornings there and into the afternoon. Pool: Area was perfect. We spent every mid-late afternoon there. Water was warm and pool was maintained. The staff: All were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 406 and enjoyed this resort. We didn’t try the restaurant at the resort and opted to eat out and also buy groceries at the local supermarket and cook in our room. We will definitely come again to this resort. very nice hotel in a good location...well equipped rooms. clean and comfortable beds the front desk staff and the cleaning staff were very pleasant and courteous....cant say the same about the girls who attended the pool bar, seems like the guests are an inconvenience. I do believe other visitors have said this also...Hotel Manager "investigate please".. a great supermarket 400 mts up the road, plenty of places in walking distance for eats and drinks.. all in all a great place to stay. highly recommended
We have returned this morning to the UK, but I wanted to write the review as soon as possible! We stayed here from 8th Jan to 17th, self catering. Weather - our first January holiday... and I must admit I was impressed. 27-30deg every day. We had 1 day of rain. It does rain most days, but between midnight and 5am so you miss it if your sleeping like we were. Room - some might say dated, but we thought it was in keeping with what we would expect in Barbados. Huge Room we stayed in 308, would recommend as great views over the beach. Room had everything’s you could ask for in the kitchen, a good size as well. Main bedroom had loads of storage space, round glass dinning table leading to the very big balcony. Sliding doors, and a first set of sliding netted doors to keep the insects out. Bathroom was big, 2 built in wardrobes and a safe (usual size, ideal for passports and bits). Shower was big! Good water pressure (always a must for me). Came with hair dryer and iron etc. All in all a superb room. And it’s cleaned to sparkling every day, must admit the Room service here is second to none. Pool area - nice size pool, clean, well maintained. Bar is also in the same area. Never had a problem getting a bed or a spot with a brolly (I have to have some shade!! It’s HOT). The area is spotless. Bar wise - operates up-to 7pm. This is our only minor negative there was a certain woman serving (not every day) who you really felt like you was putting her out by ordering anything. This said all other staff on the bar were brilliant! It’s so minor we wasn’t going to include into the review but think it should be said. Beach - heaven on Earth! Lovely beech, sea was quite strong when we arrived very strong current, that said it was windy. It did calm down after a week, lovely. I know some have said there are “bits” in the sand. There is.... because there are palms! It’s nothing to be concerned about, so would personally ignore those comments. Resort has decent beds you can take down there, Just obviously be sure to return! You are given a code for the gate as invisibly the public can use the beach as well. Taking of the public .... Barbados people are AMAZING! They make you feel welcome, will help you with anything and are simply a joy to be around. 10 days and we didn’t meet a single person that didn’t say hello, or talked to us. Makes you feel really comfortable, super relaxed atmosphere. Restaurants - from coral sands you won’t find it hard to get good grub! Firstly the food in the resort is decent. Good breakfast, great omelets. Had lunch here once as well as was really good. Our personal advice however is to go out and eat. St. Lawrence gap isn’t far (turn right out of coral sands 15min walk) and there are loads of places to eat and drink. Again with the friendly people it’s a pleasure. We would highly recommend Champers, superb food, super wine, we will review separately. There is also the chopping board (right out of coral sands, 10min walk)... great music food drink etc. again will review separately. Self catering - you have a mini-mart type shop 2 min walk from entrance of coral sands entrance, if you turn left out the resort, walk 5min you get to a full supermarket. We simply got booze (rum is unbelievably cheap!!!) and bacon, eggs etc. coffee tea. So we would sit on balcony every morning have brecky and then make our way to beech or pool! (We like to chill on holiday as life is hectic) Do you vape? - there is a vape shop with liquid etc opposite coral sands! Came in helpful when liquid was running low. Lovely woman made and served us, again the usual friendly superb service. One thing we would say is don’t worry as you pull into the driveway of coral sands. The surrounding buildings do look a bit dated and un-maintained but once you hit reception your in a haven! This didn’t put us off, but you do think “uh oh”!! Don’t worry, as soon as you settle in you will see it’s nothing to worry about. We would like to personally thank Coral Sands for a superb service, and a great place to stay. It’s a place we will Be returning to, we have Been lucky enough to travel quite a lot but Barbados has left us with an amazing feeling that we must return!! Don’t hesitate and book!!
This place is definitely the nicest on that stretch of Worthing Beach. The rooms are large, newly-furnished, clean, with everything in working order. We loved having the large patio slider open (w/ screen of course) to hear the waves at night. So romantic and soothing! We just turned off the AC, but left the fan blowing, and the temp was fine. Might not be in summer, tho. The restaurant on site is pricey and limited. And although there is a beautiful circular bar out by the pool, there is no one there to serve drinks! If you want a drink, you go to the front desk and tell them, and they send someone out to get your drink; then they leave again! This hotel is missing out on lots of revenue by not staffing the bar! After seeing the “arrangement”, we walked over to the local market and just brought our own drinks down to the pool, as did the other guests. With the exception of a very sweet housekeeper and the day manager at the front, the rest of the staff were borderline sullen. There are no towels by the pool; so after our towels got wet from use (and it also rained), I went to the desk to ask for a replacement and turn in the drenched towel. The woman did not even look up at me until I cleared my throat and said, “Excuse me?” Then she just stared, finally saying, “YES?” like I had really annoyed her. When I asked to turn in my towel for a dry one, she looked at me like I was crazy and said, “He will bring one to you”, and walked away! Really??? So, not knowing what else to do, I returned to the pool and waited. 10 min. later a guy came out w/ one towel (although several other people also needed dry towels, too). It is common to have a stack of towels and a bin for wet ones, even at smaller hotels such as this is. It is a beautiful, clean, quiet boutique hotel, but honestly the staff has no concept of customer service. It could be fantastic with friendlier staff, a bar tender (even if hours were limited), maybe some piped in “island music” by the hotel, a few vending machines for water and sodas, even snacks available for purchase. You are totally on your own. The day manager did call a taxi for us the day before we left for our terribly early flight (leaving at 7:30 AM! Never again!) So he was helpful; but sadly, the only one, actually. Too bad, since the place is so pretty and has such potential.
We travel often and have been to Barbados many times before. This resort was appealing as it is close to the gap and highlights ocean front views. We had room 401 on the top floor, only a pent house above us. The rooms are nice and large, with double Sinks and a stove top equipped kitchen, fridge, table, and 2 nice beds. We used the Kitchen daily and the ladies that clean will do your dishes, but leave a nice tip! The balcony design does limit viewing a full 180 degrees with an abandoned project to the left blocking sunrises, and a bump out in the middle. We were happy with the room overall. The front staff was nice and check in was simple, given slips for welcome drinks. The bartender was very uninterested in you, she was young but didn’t seem to engage in any sort of discussion, simply reading her electronic devices. Not really trying to earn a tip. The pool area is tiny and was full everyday so get up early. The beach was nice but full of people who accessed from the side, including a lot of kids - driving on and sharing the public ownership. So lots of unknowns, people from the street as well as other hotels or rooms not on the beach. There was no privacy, no shade with the lone palm tree on the front corner making for a daily desirable spot but taken by sunrise. The beach was rough and seedy, with a sharp undertow taking you sideways. There was plenty to see if you snorkel, but you will find safer places to do so as the locals bring boats and jet skis right across your path, so be careful. The reef is very far out so you need to be a good swimmer. The locals are kind and fun for the most part, one of the best parts about Barbados is the people, safe drinking water, and laid back Island atmosphere. The street side areas are experiencing a sewer problem, as it bubbles on the street in many places from Worthing to the Gap. You will know when you encounter the smell to not step in any street water!! It did not seem to effect the rooms. Oistins is close, always fun on Friday and we watched the football game we wanted across the street at the horseshoe, just ask for big Chris. There were several eating places we tried, with Big Mamas in the gap being a surprise cafeteria style food stop, Island palms was nice on steel drums playing live, and several 4 for 10 beer bars and happy hours spots. Groceries can be bought a short walk to the tri-mart. Massey’s was much further so we kept with the tri-mart which was good for everything you’d need and reasonably priced. I am told selection is better at Massey’s. We had a great trip but for the money have stayed in better, more appealing places on the island. The hotel is really not a resort, but is one of the better non-resort spots in the Worthing area. I was expecting a hidden gem but was not so hidden, The views are really nice, the WiFi was ok in the room but weak everywhere else and the services were acceptable but very basic.
Chose CS because of the reviews and the location. For what it is, it is very good. Nice large rooms, all face the beautiful ocean. Most staff very nice, has a nice small pool with chairs and umbrellas. If you are self-catering and not expecting a lot of service, this is perfect. The complaints about the boor area bar are totally justified. It's a joke-- If there is someone manning it, they are sitting there looking pissed off. This is such a wasted opportunity I felt. I really like a cocktail at the end of the afternoon and it was such an issue to get one at the pool "bar" --I ended up just buying my own stuff and bringing it down nightly. Overall a very good value, just don't expect too much service.
My husband and I just returned last week from a week-long stay in celebration of our 45th wedding anniversary. It was our first visit to Barbados, and we could not have been happier with our resort choice. The hotel is set back from the main road and is on the beach. Our room was on the third floor with a gorgeous balcony view of the ocean and overlooking the pool. We had coffee and breakfast every morning on the balcony. The kitchen is fully equipped except for an oven, but there is a microwave. The shower is spacious, and there are double sinks in the bathroom as well. Everything was very clean, and the décor is light and airy. The location is such that you can walk to St. Lawrence Gap, which we did a couple of nights for dinner. The first night we were there, we walked a few blocks to a restaurant for dinner, and there are a couple of grocery stores also within walking distance. The maid service was excellent. And the people at the front desk were always very helpful. My husband tripped and fell on the sidewalk the third night of our visit and injured is face and arm. The staff was very supportive and caring toward him, letting us know about the nearby medical facilities and checking with him daily. The front desk was also very helpful with restaurant suggestions and arranging for cab service. We did not use the restaurant, so I'm unable to comment about that, but it is open for breakfast and lunch. The poolside bar is not a real busy place, so often when you're ready for a cocktail there, you have to ask at the front desk for service, but they send someone out right away. They did give us a coupon for complimentary rum punches when we checked in. They also have wifi, so that was nice as we were able to keep in touch with things back at home in the U.S. We hope to go back to Barbados to do some of the activities we had to cut from our schedule due to my husband's fall, and we will not have to shop around for a place to stay. We will definitely be back at Coral Sands.
We stayed across stands for eight days. The location is sublime. The beach is beautiful the hotel is very quiet and a clientele are very relaxed. The decor is dated but the overall experience was fantastic.
