Sawasdee Bangkok Inn

My friend and I were recommended to stay at Sawasdee Inn Hostel by a travel agency near Khao San Road. They showed us a brochure with pictures of the hostel- those pictures did NOT resemble the reality. Instead, we were met by a dirty area, rude receptionist, coaches in the lobby with dirt and foam sticking out of them. The room itself had stained curtains, dirty walls, a toilet without a door (the bathroom itself looked HORRENDOUS) as if the area never had been cleaned. We decided to leave after 20 minutes and never got our money back. Do NOT trust the travel agencies and please ask to see the room before you spend any money on it. If they won’t show you the room, something not right! There is a lot cheaper and really nice hostels out there, KEEP LOOKING!

Its extreamly dirty, staff not helpfull at all, we had to ask even for sheets (there was only a blanket). Bathroom is smaller than in airplane. But airplane toilets are BY FAR much cleaner than in sawasdee. Don't even try to compare booking.com pictures to reality.

A long review but there is a long list of bad points (putting it politely) for this "hotel". First off, this is not just a hotel, it's a working brothel. It's unsafe, dirty, rude staff, mouldy, broken furniture, dated, looks nothing like the photos... I could go on but instead I'll tell you about my experience. We stayed here for two nights. Got kicked out of our room at 7:30am after our first night, as there was a leak. We had to put all of our belongings in the hallway and wait in our pyjamas until the maid had cleaned a room. Took about half an hour and to be honest she shouldn't have bothered. It was absolutely filthy. When I asked her for towels and toilet paper she started yelling at me in Thai then laughing. The caretaker then laughed at us and told us he would get it. Rude and just embarrassing for me. A lot of old men with very young prostitutes here. The prostitutes have a deal with this place so come in for their key with their customers all through the day. It's a constant flow of disgusting men. Not only that a lot of the conditions etc go on in the lobby so you hear everything. Then they argue with their customers... Overall just felt gross being there and unsafe. We even bought a padlock for our room as we were that worried about our things. Very angry about my stay here that I PAID for the privilege. You couldn't pay me to come back it's vile.

We had a double private room. The room did not look like the pictures at all, it smells, im pretty sure there were a lot of mold. We did'nt even wanted to take a showet om the bath "room". The staff was not service minded at all, actully rude. If you want to sleep just outside a party and if you can sleep to a lot of noise, the location is fine. We had booked one day. The first thing we did was to book another hostel. We renommend K.C guesthouse, a couple of streets from here. Wifi only work in the lobby.

This guesthouse is in quite a central location but has very cramped rooms to reflect this. Our room was also dirty with lots of things damaged inside. Yet the bed sheets seemed fairly clean in comparison. The staff were a little blunt yet helpful overall. Wifi doesn't work in the room at all just in lobby. Room was tiny bit noisy, from local clubs. Is a cheap place to stay though.

I had a hard time finding affordable hotel near Khao San road since most of them are fully book. I also don't want to stay in a hostel. I came across this hotel at booking.com which offered low rate. I booked it anyway even if I saw negative reviews. THAT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. When we arrived after a 9-hour bus ride from siem reap, we were welcomed with a smirk from the male receptionist. He seemed annoyed by our presence and is constantly rolling his eyes. They didn't have our reservations in the system so I have to show my copy from the email. The check in process was so awkward. I have requested for a twin room but they gave me single bed room. I went back to the reception and told him. He gave me another key slightly slamming it on the counter. The room is nasty, you will just be given two soaps and one tissue roll. The bathroom door has its lock broken, the blanket is damaged so as the bath towels. Even if we just payed $14/night at least we are expecting to get clean and presentable room. Please stay away from this hotel. Maybe staying in a hostel was a better choice than this.

Very small room, noisy and dirty place.there is no internet in the room and ridiculously slow in the hall.fake pictures in the website.very disappointed, this place must to be shut!stay away from there!!

The room looks absolutely nothing like the pictures, which we are used to by now after travelling around Indonesia and Thailand for a couple of months, but this place is a mess. There's mould in the bathroom and all over the walls, the room is tiny, spring sticking out of the mattress and WiFi is crap. This was in fact the better of the two rooms we saw, we had to be moved because the shower broke immediately in the first room. There are two good things about this place, one is that despite a spring sticking out of the mattress it is actually quite comfortable to sleep on, and it's a quiet place to stay considering the location, right on Khao San road. We used the laundry service, 50 Baht per kg, good service but when I picked up my clothes she asked me to check, fair enough, but also gave me three other bags of people's clothes to check...confusing but I did find my clothes mixed in with other people's! I wondered if anyone has ever has their clothes stolen because of this.

Usually I stay in a more expensive and nicer place when in Bangkok. I decided that this was a once night thing and wanted to make it different. I found the cheapest place on Bookings and took a look. Yes it's dingy, yes they are not hyper polite, yes it's dark, small rooms and shady. In fact I was greeted by a guest with "Welcome to Hell!" ominous for sure. But! It was for one night and it was 50% cheaper than the other places in the area. It was quieter then expected and checking in and out was a breeze. This is not a 5 star place, but it's got the location and price. So altogether it was good.

I´ve stayed at this property 4 times in the past accross various visits to Bangkok and my memory of it was that it represented good value for money whilst being a littel run down. This time around, i´m sad to say that I was very dissapointed. The noise coming from Khaosan Road alone was bad, so bad and had it not been that i´d just flown for about 15 hours and had an early morning train to catch, I´d probably not have been able to sleep. The room itself was clearn at least (other than a piece of plastic wrapping sitting on the sink) but it was run down and poorly maintained with holes in the walls and with an air conditioning unit that I couldn´t seem to turn off. The most of putting thing for me (other than the noise) was how dirty the communcal areas were, particularly the bird poo on the window sils as you walked up the stairs which had clearly been there for some time. This place is cheap, i´ll give it that, and you get your own room and bathroom and it´s close to the night action of Khaosan but I honestly don´t think i´ll be staying here again. I have to say however that the one member of staff that I saw both at check-in and check-out was friendly and helpful.
