Booked this hotel because everything else was sold out because of the Chinese new year. This hotel has seen it’s glory in the 1980’s. You feel like living in a museum and not in a good way. You have kneel down to wash your hair and I’m only 183cm. Reception very unorganided both at check in and when leaving. Finally after check out requested a normal taxi to the airport, got a normal taxi but price was 800 baht paid to the hotel. I guess they split the money, because normal price is 400. Avoid this hotel!
This is a comfortable large hotel. The rooms are clean and nice. This hotel is convenient walking distance to shopping, and restaurants. The front desk people very accommodating. My only compliant is with the concierge who could not quote prices for entrance fees to some of the attractions, and to book a taxi through her to Pattaya was an extra 1000 bhat more than hiring one yourself.
We checked in on 3th of February and we had to wait over an hour to get our room, the room didn't look the same as in the pic. Ad. On Agoda what we booked no balcony, and I'm a smoker so the area that allow to smoke is swimming pool and front of the hotel (that's what receptionist told to us) and since we have been staying here we used to smoked at swimming pool so many time with good service by friendly women staff with short hair, but today 7th February when we were at the pool some older man staff told us no smoking here at the swimming pool area. What the coordination of your staff... It's so many thing that very complicated with this hotel....wouldn't come again and wouldn't recommend anyone to stay or use the service here.
This location was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Was able to get great deals online. As much as it is starting to show its age it is very clean and the service is excellent. Have to use pool earlier in day if you enjoy the sun it disappears by 3pm, for swimming good anytime. It's central location to all the sites and sky trains being only 1 block away is a great benefit
Nice hotel in a good location. I have been here in the past and decided to revisit after 10 years absence. The foyer area is nice but the rooms are dated. Old AC that we had to switch off to regulate temp to suit us. The lamp not working. The bathroom had old taps that rattle and the water takes awhile to come out. All staff are friendly except for all the male staff in front desk that seem to be disinterested and not welcoming.
I stayed with my partner for night before traveling to korat. The hotel is perfectly situated for the Patpong shopping and night life. Check in was quick and friendly. The room was spacious and very clean. Unfortunately I missed the breakfast. As we slept in after a late night partying in soi 2 I recommend this hotel.
Our third stay here and it was good. Last time we posted a review was two years ago in FEB 2016 and we would still stand by it as follows except to say that there is now free wifi for two devices per room: "Good Hotel Many years ago we stayed here and had a memorable time and this time we had the same feeling! Lovely hotel in a very good location for the Night Market and the Skytrain. Very pleasant room and well appointed and good views. Breakfast was a nice and relaxing experience with plenty of choice and generally friendly staff. Clarify if WIFI is included as there is a high charge. Good massage service at the lobby. Pool ok but needs more shading. Sauna and Gym were dismal and need upgrading. Overall good value for money and would recommend. Room Tip: High Floor"
Montien Hotel in Bangkok is a nice period hotel. It has a wonderful sense of history. The hotel is located in the heart of the city. The rooms are very well appointed, akin to tennis courts if I may say. This was a pleasant surprise compared to small boxy rooms that are the norm today. The hotel is reasonably well maintained and has aged gracefully. The shopping malls and the riverside aren't far off either. The breakfast spread is huge and varied. We had to wait for almost 3 hours to get our rooms as we had arrived a couple of hours before the check-in time. The staff in the front office should have better English skills than what was evident. Overall, nice hotel.
I am very pleased that I went again to the Montien Hotel in my new visit to BKK. As soon as I arrived to the front desk for registration I felt again the sense of hospitality that few hotels are able to provide, particularly difficult to find in big hotels. The Asst Room Division Manager and responsible for the Reception staff, Mrs Saowanee was extremely helpful, efficient and kind as it was her very well trained team. I went again to a De Luxe Room. For me it is more than worthwhile to pay some more money but to have so much extra space. The Hotel is under complete reformation. My room was not yet completely renovated, but everything looked nice with good taste classic Thai decoration and absolutely clean. I must mention also the lady who arranged everyday my room (1204) so well and so quick in order that if I went back to the room quite soon it was already done. I can not say but positive things for both the building and of course the staff. The Montien is my first choice in Bangkok as on top of what I have mentioned it has an exceptional ratio price/quality. Thank you again to everybody for made my stay nicer and more comfortable!
The steamed chicken with oily rice is one of the best in Bangkok. It is the most popular dish. If you do not have big appetite, one set of this may be too much for one person. The place is located near Bangkok downtown so staying there is convenient to go to many attractions in Bangkok.
