Astera gets 4 stars because of the location and the staff. Upon check in the staff could not find our reservation. I'm not sure if this was because of the third party booking we used or because of Astera. The staff was helpful and 30 minuted later we got into our room. Either way I suggest calling and confirming your reservation before arriving. We stayed in a superior room. Overall the room is a 3.5. Good size and comfy bed. The cleanliness could be improved though. It was satisfactory for my wife who is very picky. The pool is not like it appears in the pictures. It still seems nice but, we did not use it during our trip. The location of this hotel puts you close to the BTS as well as the ferry. This makes it easy to visit the area where the grand palace is located via ferry or venture into the city via BTS. There is also a large size indoor mall located about 5 minutes away towards the BTS stop. My wife and I also enjoyed a massage from a massage place (beside a nail salon) located on your left hand side when walking towards the BTS from the hotel. FYI to find the BTS station (Saphan Taksin) exit the hotel from the front entrance, turn left and walk straight. The entrance to the station is located under the highway. The staff is the other highlight of this hotel. The people at the front desk were always kind and patient. They were also very vigilant at night time with other people trying to bring guests into the hotel. I felt very safe staying here because of the staff. There was also a man located in the lobby with tour information. This man was super helpful and nice. My wife and I booked a customized trip to the floating market and the train market with him. The next day we woke up and realized that the man himself would be taking my wife and I on our trip. We had a whole van to ourselves and very much enjoyed our trip. I highly recommend booking with this man in the hotel lobby as opposed to going to another tourist shop. Overall this place was a good pick for us and was with in our budget. I'd recommend staying here to my friends or family primarily because of the staff and location.
Have been here with family and friends for new year 2017. Location of the hotel is good as it is close to the market and the mall. Even a metro station is at walking distance fringe this place which makes it even more connected to the city and to some of the biggest malls of Bangkok.
Room was basic at best. Pool is nice, but water was very warm. Gym is descent, but AC is very minimal. Breakfast buffet is good - perhaps the highlight of the stay - lots of choices and fresh fruit & salad. WiFi worked. Location is good - very close to pier so you can catch the tourist boat and tour the city via the Chao Phraya River. Highly recommend. The hotel is also walking distance to Wat Pho (~5k) - the walk is interesting, but not the most pleasant (fumes, uneven pavement etc..) We stayed here for two days from 46 May 2017. This period other properties were pretty expensive in the CBD and chose this only because they offered a good rate for an interconnecting room. The property itself seems an old one and being renovated at the cost of you having the hammer drill working almost the entire day. The corridors had no ventilation and had a foul musty smell which extended into the elevators as well.Rooms were small and the most surprising things was that they do not even provide basic drinking water in the rooms and you have to pay for it. We did so the first day but soon found a seven eleven nearby and purchased water from there. Rooms 509 and 510 is what we were allotted. The air conditioner in 509 barely cooled and being an interconnecting rooms we had to leave the doors open as the air conditioner in 510 cooled much better .This way the other room also got cooled. Breakfast was pretty decent. Had a coffee maker in the room and I guess were supposed to fill water from the sink unless you to pay 24THB for a small bottle of water. Cabs could be got easily outside the Hotel and a metro/BTS station was close by to connect you to the CBD. I would not stay at this property again. I saw a sticker stating that they were awarded Trip Advisor's best property in 2013 and I really wonder why?
I loved this hotel it was in a fantastic location. Staff very helpful they This hotel was fantastic ,the location was great. The staff were extremely helpful.i would stay here again as it was nice and clean .good value for money
Nice clean and good sized rooms. Welcomed with a nice fruit juice on arrival which was nice too. Good wifi and breakfast options. Quite close to Khao San Road as well but there are lots of busy and nice places to eat near the hotel too. Good pool as well.
The hotel is really nice. We came late in the afternoon and they gave us an upgrade, so we had a very very big suite for just 40€ per night. The room was clean and bed was huge!! Personal is very kind and they speak english. There is a beautiful swimming pool and sauna. When we were leaving they let us use the rest room and shower of the swimming pool to clean us before the airport. I really recommend it!!
This hotel is very comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the pool is great. A bit out of town but it's well connected, with sky train and boat links which can take you to the centre. Close to some decent restaurants and shops so you don't have to go too far.
it was the 2nd time we choose the Astera while in Bangkok and like before we were quite happy. The room are a good size with nice comfy bed and a big bathroom. There is a lot of storage for your clothes and luggage. We had a room with a pool view and a small balcony, which we enjoyed a lot. The pool is nice and usually you can get a lounge chair around it. The hotel is very well located near the BTS and the river boat station so you have a few option to how to visit the city> It's a nice hotel with friendly staff and very affordable.
Clean, comfy beds. have good breakfasts!! nice clean pool too. close to the city. the staff are very helpful in directing where you want to get to :) the restaurant upstairs has good food for lunch/dinner:) affordable and yummy!! there was one night where i was unable to sleep due to a noisy neighbour in the next room, had to call reception to call them directly to be spoken to.
