Very good Hotel on beautiful location. The Hotel has a great Spa area and outside pool. Perfect for a family with children. Is located at the beach, but there are trees in front of the hotel. Very nice and helpful staff.
We stayed for 6 nights, with small baby. Steigenberger is definitely good for holiday with kids any age. Hotel is very well maintained - clean and nice atmosphere due to courtyard with garden facing to the sea. Housekeeping very good&fast service. Room really nice with all we need, nice bedding and towels. Nice child friendly details like - child check in area, child breakfast buffet, bathrobe… Do not expect all staff to understand English. The hotel can be really perfect if the service improve. In 5* hotel staff have to go beyond guest expectations and make great customer experience. Breakfast was great selection but staff confused immediately when it gets little busy. Tables not ready so we have to wait, strange system of cleaning of the tables. Lilienthal restaurant serve good food for dinner but the service except few waiters was not very professional - especially from the head waiter. One evening we came to Lilienthal and they refused us because we did not have the reservation, but they had plenty of tables available and in such a big hotel they should be ready to welcome guest even without reservation. They did not offer alternatives and we did not feel welcomed and have to find different restaurant. GM was available and very proactive. Check out reception and bellman service very professional. We strongly recommend Seaside restaurant with excellent fine dining experience, service and privacy. Food and service in the Watterfront restaurant great - very fast and probably the only one smiling all the time. Spa & massage were good. Overall great hotel with potential to improve in service to the customers.
Excellent service, beautiful garden, professional employees, terrific spa, delicious breakfast, very well located, beautifully furnished rooms. Unfortunately we couldn't book a massage, as they were fully booked when we asked.
A great 5* hotel/resort with a perfect location near the beach and a superb spa & swim area. Tried swimmingpools and saunas and they were top standard. Impressed by the family friendliness which was cared for until the tiniest details. Professional and very friendly staff. Impressed that the CEO welcomed the guest at the breakfast restaurant. Gives a feeling that he cares abt guests and staff. Good job!
This is a really great hotel, beautifully designed rooms, extra comfortable beds . Our deluxe room with sea view had a big window towards the sea, and the room was just amazing. The breakfast buffet was just ok. The pool area is very nice, everything is super clean. The towel service is a bit annoying, as you have to take the towels initially with special cards from the spa area in the 1st floor only, and then exchange them there for fresh ones. While the design of the hotel is very appealing, the faces of the staff are less, most of them hardly smile. Customer service needs much improvement and one staff member, the lady at the entrance to the breakfast room, even has an attitude of an arrogant and harsh nature . I even had to complain about her with management. Having said that, this hotel looks to be the best in the area, and with improved service can become a jewel.
The title says it all. The hotel is superbly located and very nicely decorated and furnished. The breakfast is outstanding in terms of choice and quality. Otherwise the food is ok. The problem is that the staff don't seem to understand what "service" means. Apart from Matthias Raab, the barman, the service was pretty poor over the whole weekend we were there. The service really is not up to the standard of the hotel
The hotel was nice, clean. But problems with stuff in the bar and in the restaurant. Maybe management was on the holiday :) The breakfast was excellent. Swiming poll and SPA area was beautiful. I recomend the stay.
Heringsdorf is a really charming Baltic Resort and the Steigenberger could not be better located just a few yards from the beach and a three or four minute walk from the lovely little town. The hotel itself is lovely. Very nicely decorated with high quality furniture and fittings. Our bedroom, which was a standard, still had a slight view of the sea, was spotlessly clean, very well furnished with high quality furniture and fittings and a very high quality bed and bedding. Really superb. The bathroom was modern, spacious, clean and a delight to use. The breakfast is outstanding. A sumptuous variety of very high quality food and the best Bircher Muesli I have ever tasted. Cannot be faulted. The spa/fitness area is also new, high quality, luxurious, spacious and a delight to use. The weather over the weekend we were there was atrocious so we didn't use any outdoor facilities and cannot comment on the pool area. The food is ok, but apart from the glorious breakfast, is not quite up to the standard of the hotel. The fixed menu on Saturday night in the Lilienthal restaurant had pretty limited choices, although eh beef was very good Where this hotel really fails to some extent is on the service. With the exception of the superb barman, Matthias Raab (try his special Margarita - yummy), many of the staff seemed to be very poorly trained, uncaring or just plain absent - we sat in the lounge area of the spa for over half an hour, wanting a drink after a sauna, and not one single staff member appeared. We sat outside the bistro on a Saturday afternoon and waited 40 minutes before any of the staff inside deigned to come out. We stood by the cake stand (delicious home made cakes) wanting to order (along with two other groups) and we were all ignored while staff cleared tables, which was unnecessary as the room was mostly empty) or chatted. Whilst there was a queue at reception, one receptionist just walked away and could be seen chatting to another receptionist just inside the office. Breakfast things were not cleared away, so I had to do it myself to make space. They have a weird system at breakfast where you can make tea but staff must bring the cup. Often the tea was stewed by the time the cup arrived. If poor service had been a one off event over the weekend, I would have excused it, but this was not the case. There were multiple instances of really poor service which is just not up to the standard of the hotel. None of the staff were unfriendly or unhelpful when actually dealing with them, just somewhat half hearted or absent. I put this down to poor training. It needs to be dealt with and when it is, this will be a great, if rather expensive, place to stay.
