Mercure Hotel Greifswald Am Gorzberg4.0 out of 5.0

This is a very good hotel if you're looking for a base from which you can then visit Greifswald or go on short trips around the region (Stralsund, Rugen island etc.). It is a bit far from the centre of Greifswald, but both the bus and the Greifswald Sud train station are very close to the hotel. (I suggest taking the train because it takes you to the city centre in 2-3 minutes, the bus takes a bit longer, although the bus station is even closer to the hotel.) The hotel is a typical German Mercure hotel. I'm not crazy about the interior design and the rooms could do with being refurbished. However, I stayed in a premium room, which faced the back of the hotel, it was clean and quiet and mostly comfortable. The minibar and toiletries were free and I received a local daily newspaper every day. The only problem were the pillows. They are terrible and prevented me from getting a good night's rest. I've found this to be the problem in all the Mercure hotels I've stayed in in Germany, I simply don't see why they refuse to invest in better pillows. The staff were wonderful, nice and attentive. But the best thing about this hotel is breakfast, which is simply amazing. It's a huge spread and there is really something for everyone. I especially liked the hot options which were absolutely delicious. If I come back to Greifswald, this is where I'll be staying. I just hope they'll have better pillows by then.
Very nice hotel and helpfull staff. The restaurant also has some english speaking waiters which is nice and difficult to find in Greifswald. The rooms are not to big but clean. If you enjoy biking, there's even a bike rack in the front of the hotel.
Mostly a good hotel. Limited menu but we ordered the steak, salad a buttered potatoes which were excellent. The room has everything you need except decent bedding! The quilts were thin and only just covered the bed. A tall man would struggle!! The pillows are just a square bag of lumpiness. Please address your beds - I would have given you five stars! Our room was at the rear of the hotel so unfortunately was very noisy with delivery lorries arriving very early in the morning. Not a pretty location but convenient. Staff were all very pleasant and accommodating (apart from the barman who was a little miserable).
I had a business trip there, and we have chosen this hotel. The hotel is outside of the city so if you want to visit any local pub restaurant then it is not the best choice. We had buffet breakfast, which is in average quality. The rooms are clean and the beds are enough good for sleep.
This hotel is very much on the outskirts of town, so unless you want to drive you are forced to dine at the hotel. Surprisingly the very best meals my wife and I have ever eaten at a Mercure. Come to think about it the best meal at any hotel for a very long time. Apparently Mercures outside of the UK have chiefs! In all other respects the hotel is a standard modern hotel but with staff that speak English and smile.
The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I was able to drop of my bag early in the morning when I arrived in the city, even though I was not able to check in until 23:00 after my meetings. The bed was comfortable and the room was well supplied with drinks and toiletries.
A modern and clean hotel on the outskirts of town and on an industrial estate. It was fairly quiet and the rooms were modern, nicely decorated and very clean. A small downside was the quality of the pillows, which wasn't good as there was very little stuffing in them. However that was just a small thing compared with a nice bar area, excellent evening meals and very helpful staff. A really good budget-mid range hotel.
It was long way trip from Berlin Airport to Greifswald for business purposes. Hotel met us with nice and clean rooms. Everything is fine inside. Breakfast was continental and delicious. I would recommend this place for any business trips.
To be honest, I booked this hotel because I am a member of the Accor Group program. When I arrived there, I was just expecting a place to sleep, before visiting Stralsund the nexd day. The only weak aspect about this hotel is the location, in a quiet but residential area "away from everything". And that's he only reason why I can't rate 5 points, because the overall rating has to take all factos into account, including location. Despite from this, staying there was excelent. Price was also very reasonable. The reception staff was very friendly. Because I have booked room with breakfast included, they offered me dinner for the 2 nights I stayed. I have travelled to many countries and stayed at dozens of hotels, but this level of hospitality was not known to me before. When I entered the room, there was also complimentary water and a bowl with fruit, as well as complimentary drinks and peanuts in the minibar! Since I have the Accor Gold membership card, I can not nsure you this level of welcoming will be offered to all guest. but it was a very good experience.
While this hotel is out of town, it's a very comfortable place to stay with good rooms of a good size. The staff were very friendly, helpful and kind, and there is good parking. The rooms have free wifi which worked fine and a free mini-bar with water, juice and beer. The bar area is comfortable and Service here good. Tap beer excellent. If you pay for breakfast (which is excellent with lots of choice) you get a free basic evening meal. We tried this and it was good! Really liked this hotel, and it's out of town location made no difference to our stay.
