Sadly, our one night trip was spoiled from the moment we checked in - because of the rude and unpleasant man on reception. He told us Hotel Kontorhaus would charge us for a SECOND night - even though we'd already cancelled with He was most unkind and unapologetic and REFUSED to check what had gone wrong. He seemed impatient and angry. We had to waste a lot of our cherished holiday time contacting the UK for help. It seems put things right for us and it seems we will not be over charged as he had threatened. But no-one from Hotel K has the courtesy to apologise or tell us this. I did not find out that had put things right till I arrived back in the UK. This man also cost us money by sending us to the wrong car park - which cost us 13 Euros - rather than the 4 promised by the hotel. His unkindness really spoiled our stay. That's the reason I've rated some of the things in the resort lower than they maybe deserved. I am sorry I booked this Hotel. But I'm very glad I booked it through Without them this hotel would happily have doubled our bill. Although other staff seemed fine this unsmiling made our stay horrible. He let us down, the hotel down and he also let down. We still can't work out just why he was so beastly to us. I would NOT recommend this hotel. Things can go wrong anywhere but they were so rude, hostile and nasty about the booking error and refused to even try to look into what went wrong. But if you do stay make sure you speak German . I think the man might have been cross with us because we were English and sadly, speak no German.

Well-situated in Stralsund, nearby the old town centre, the harbour and the Ozeaneum. Mid-sized rooms with nice views. Impressively clean! The sleep quality is good. The Wi-Fi works OK. The hotel is small and has a personal touch which is nice. The breakfast isn't included, but is recommended since it's nicely prepared and arranged and offers a personal touch and a lot of variety. The only negative with the hotel is the price which is higher than normal to be Germany - especially when the breakfast isn't included. Charged parking is available in the neighbourhood; ideally the hotel would have a few lots to offer.

This hotel has a good location overlooking the marina and nearby are good restaurants, the Oceaneum and an easy to walk into the wonderful town. Our room was cheery, very clean, small and had two large windows we opened overlooking the marina. Parking was nearby and not expensive. We booked here in order to be able to drive to Sassnitz to catch the ferry the next afternoon. Next time we will stay longer to see more of the lovely town.

small hotel, perfact location at the harbour with nice local restaurants, just a two minutes walk to the famous Oceaneum, perfect hotel for a stop on the way to the Island of Rügen, the rooms are quite big and new, the breakfast was very good, great variety of dishes, the staff is very attentive and helpful, recomendable for a business trip as well as for a leisure trip

The Hotel Kontorhaus in Stralsund is a smaller hotel located on the waterfront. Everything about the hotel looks brand new and very clean. We stayed for four nights in a double room overlooking the harbor. The room was excellent. It was nicely decorated in a nautical theme with warm colored wood. On a nice day, one can open the windows to enjoy the sea breezes. There are several restaurants nearby, and the central square is just a five minute walk away. Breakfasts are excellent. The hotel's wi-fi was excellent. The staff is uniformly friendly and helpful. Hotel Kontorhaus is a very nice hotel. Highly recommend.

This has to be the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in--period and what a location. Our 3/4 length windows opened up directly onto the yachting marina, its a stunning view from a hotel. Always book a room with the Marina views. Even better, the people who work there. The ladies on reception were happy and helpful as were the super girls who cooked my excellent breakfast every morning. The rooms were worthy of a 4 star standard instead of 3 star. Stralsund is a UNESCO world heritage site with the most beautiful town centre and good shopping. There were virtually no Brits there. What a shame that they miss out on this beautiful Baltic coastline with beaches to rival the best of the French Riviera. Great BEER as well!!! This Hotel has the Porscheboy stamp of approval.

During a work trip I needed to find an hotel to stay long time in Stralsund (30nights). The first question at the desk was "Do you speak English?" A strong answer "NEIN " and no way to find a communication because the woman just ignored me and my other questions.....not very polite for an hotel desk worker, in this way you loose customers that can take you a lot of money.....

We found this hotel upon arriving in Stralsund without a hotel reservation. We were lucky enough to find a vacancy in August. The room was tiny but nicely decorated, with good furniture. The bathroom was also nice, with space on the washbasin shelf. The hotel is located on the harbour. Our room was very quiet and we could sleep with the window open. The breakfast buffet was not as plentiful as you would expect it in Germany but cooked breakfast was offered to us. We could park our car in a nearby parking area, free of charge from late afternoon till morning. Price was OK comsidering that it was high season.

We settled on this hotel because it is petfree and smokefree, something difficult to find in this part of Germany. Also, we wanted to visit the island of Rügen, but not exclusively, and were very happy in the end to pick Stralsund as our base for day trips. We had read that most vacationers go straight to Rügen and miss out on Stralsund -- and that really would have been missing out, since Stralsund itself is a great city, worth the UNESCO world heritage status. The hotel is at the harbor, but since Stralsund is historically a harbor town, you're right in the middle of it all. The parking was great too, and not as complicated as it first seemed. There is paid streetside parking, but it's not that much. There's a trick to it: if you come in the evening anytime after (I believe) 18:00, you can park for free until 9 the next morning. But, if at that time you pay 4 Euros, you're set for the whole next day -- and even until the day after, if you leave before 9 in the morning (or feed the meter again). Note: don't park right in front of the hotel (it's okay for un-/loading), since those spots are NOT public parking. The rooms in this hotel are all designed like cruiseship cabins; and ours was extremely nice and extremely clean -- the bathroom, too. The only negative thing about the bathroom was the water pressure was so strong that it resulted in more water than the small drain pipe could handle, leaving you standing in water. Bonus in the room: an empty fridge for storing your own drinks and snacks. The free wireless internet (code at checkin) was strong. Housekeeping respects the "do not disturb"-sign. We didn't take the breakfast option since it seemed rather expensive and there are several options in town -- the "Fußgängerzone" (main, pedestrian shopping street) is about 10 minutes away and has several cafés and bakeries. We were glad we requested a room with a sea view (see photo), even though I assume the traffic noise (= some cars, boats and people walking by) started a bit earlier on that side. All in all the location was very quiet.

This is a very nice hotel on the harbor. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was typically great (we find most German hotels to have great bathrooms). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The view from our room of the town and harbor was wonderful. It is quite close to most of the things you will want to see in town. And it was quiet (note we were there in February).
