We really enjoyed it - we arrived a day early and they changed our booking for no extra fee and absolutely no attitude about it as you'd perhaps expect! The resort itself the beautiful and the room was immaculate. The staff were very very friendly and did anything and everything to make sure every detail was perfect. Would definitely recommend.
The Mansion was one of the more breathtaking experiences we had, as far as hotels are concerned in Ubud around this price range. The hotel grounds were huge and we had a lot of fun exploring the grounds and seeing what the place had to offer. Check-in/Arrival: We felt very welcomed upon arriving at the very impressive grounds of the Mansion. The staff were very well trained and friendly. We arrived 2 hours before the official 2pm check-in time, but they made haste to prepare our room while we explored the massive estate. Room: We loved the room. Every room is given a unique name instead of a room number. We got a room named Ocean Wood. The room was amazing. The facilities included all the basics you would expect from a good hotel. Water pressure and hot water were very satisfactory. I did wish they installed fans in the room though, as it can get quite cold with the air-conditioning. The only negative I would attribute to the room were the incessant number of mosquitoes in the room, even after getting the staff to spray the room with insecticide. During our 4 nights here, in addition to the mosquitoes, we had encounters with a rather large (i.e., palm sized) spider scurrying across the curtains, and a millipede making its way across the floor. Food/Room-service: The breakfast was your typical Balinese styled breakfast that you would find in any other hotel. Nothing very spectacular. We had dinner at the hotel one night. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it would was ok. The room service menu didn't have as much of a selection as the restaurant. Overall, portions were a bit small and disappointing, although it wasn't bad: I had just expected more from such an amazing place. Swimming Pools: There were so many. The pools were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, The main pool area can get a little bit crowded, but that was not really an issue because there were so many other pools to go to. Gym: We used the gym twice during our stay. The gym is very spacious and well-equipped. However, the multipurpose weight machine was rather stiff and could use replacement or some serious maintenance. Water and towels were provided. Internet: internet is readily available and did not require constant logging in. However, the internet was extremely slow at certain hours in our room. Speeds were better near the lobby. Spa/Massage: We wanted to try out the spa and get a massage but we were immediately turned off by the Rp600,000++ price of an hour massage for one person. I read another review here that the prices here were reasonable - they were absolutely not. Getting Around: The hotel provides a shuttle to Ubud town, so getting around wasn't an issue at all. The shuttle operates from morning to the night, so it makes visiting Ubud very convenient. That said, getting out of the Mansion back to Kuta (we were going back to Kuta for a week after our stay here) was quite a hassle. We had originally planned on calling an Uber and had to take some precautions as Uber/Grab rides were highly discouraged in most areas. Our first driver tried to cheat us before arriving to the hotel, texting us to demand more money and making lame excuses that he couldn't drive us to Kuta because of restrictions, but he would do it for a higher fee, After attempting more than an hour to get another ride from elsewhere (Uber, Grab, Blue Bird, Private taxis), we eventually got another, more honest and more pleasant Uber driver. The hotel was hopeless in helping us secure a ride back to Kuta. They insisted we use their hotel transport which would have cost us RP 400,000 (Uber would have cost you RP150,000-250,000). Unfortunately, Blue Birds didn't operate around Ubud and we weren't lucky enough to catch one en route from elsewhere.
We have just returned from a lovely 7 night stay at The Mansion. All the staff are extremely happy, friendly and helpful. We stayed in a grand deluxe room which was comfortable, a little dated but that did not concern us, air con was great. As other guests have stated the grounds and various pools are what makes this place, both are well maintained. I had a massage at the resort spa and it was very good, of course expect to pay more than in town. The restaurant Indochine was also enjoyed as was some of the room service options. The Two hourly free shuttle bus into Ubud central as a drop and pick up service was well received it is about a 10-15 minute bus ride. All in all we would definitely return and can recommend this resort to others.
Just spent a 3 night stay at The Mansion. On arrival through the lovely gardens to check in found the hotel foyer hot as appeared to not be airconditioned. Staff were very pleasant and showed me to my villa with own pool. There are numerous pools for guests to swim in and the gardens are indeed beautiful and well maintained. On entering my villa found the room very dark and needed to leave lights on. Dark wooden floor boards and dark wooden walls. Airconditioner worked well. Regretfully the TV was old and virtually no colour to the picture and reception poor. Loved the outdoor bathroom aspect BUT discovered cold shower no hot water. First shower was in the hot afternoon so didn't mind. Second day was not happy and was advised "leave tap running and hot water will happen" Certainly not the case and third day of ""cold wash"" was NOT acceptable. On ringing front desk to complain 'pleasantly' the maintenance person arrived very quickly BUT too late for my needs. Next guest should be happy. First morning heading for breakfast got lost trying to find my way as no directions, being old and walking a bit difficult I was NOT happy. Luckily a pool cleaner directed me the way to go. Breakfasts were alright but certainly nothing to get excited about as selections available were few. The staff member cooking eggs was nice and friendly. Indeed all staff members were very friendly. I loved the seclusion of the villa and felt safe. Pool was well maintained and I did enjoy I was provided with a discount for my stay, thankfully, as certainly do not think the usual charges can be justified. On departure, checking my account, discovered total inaccuracy with the charges for the villa. This was quickly rectified except on deciding to pay cash and being just A$4.00 short had a bit of having to stand my ground and suggesting that as I couldn't have a shower that morning was finally given that as a credit. Account and presumed receipt handed to me in sealed envelope and I didn't look at it till on the plane home. No receipt. But positive I won't see a 'nasty' charge on my Visa card in the future. Hotel is close to central Ubud and does have a shuttle service. Would I stay again? NO!!
I stayed at the Mansion starting May 4th, 2017. On May 8, 2017, I reported that I lost my key at around 9PM. I was not given a new key and I went to sleep with the door unlocked, as it was the type that required the key to lock even from the inside. At 10PM, I was woken up by someone knocking on the door. Before I could say anything, a staff of the Mansion Hotel came sneaking into my room. Immediately I started yelling and he ran away. I went to the front desk to report this intruder and they did nothing. Did not give me a new key or a new room, only that they would look into it. I tried to sleep but could not, since my door was unlocked. So I tried to get a new room but the Mansion insisted that they needed my credit card AND for me to pay for the prior night's stay before they could give me a new room. That didn't make any sense, as they already had my credit card on file. When I tried to leave, they physically tried to steal my luggage to get my credit card (even though they had my credit card on file). After they threatened to call the police, I said go ahead and charge me. At that point they overcharged me for an entire week (as I had reserved but I had only stayed a day or two). Moreover, the stay advertised a 2 person massage, 2 person dinner, and 2 way transportation from and to the airport. I was given none of these before being forced to leave, and yet charged for them. I had to spend approximately $600 to replace those services promised but not provided. This stay was the worst hotel stay in any country I have ever been to.
Beautiful place, wonderful staff, everything was clean and well kept. The upgrade was lovely, and my daughter still calls the hotel as "palace". Really grateful to had choose this hotel to stay. Breakfast really tasty. Couldn't enjoy all pools (unfortunately) but hopefully next time!
Our room was absolutely gorgeous. Very spacious and Clean. Room was made up everyday. All the staff were so very helpful. Always had a smile on their faces and nothing we asked was too much trouble for them.
We had a wonderful visit to The Mansion. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and well kept. The style of room did have open areas, which I enjoyed as part of the atmosphere of being in Bali, but bug spray was a daily requirement even in the room. The grounds are amazing with 6 pools and multiple lounging areas. We ate in the restaurant regularly and found the food reliably tasty. The massage packages were a deal and I can recommend the spa scrub. My only downer was the wonderfully unique, artsy bathroom, which I found somewhat treacherous, particularly after I slipped and fell. So be careful in there. The WiFi is not specific to the room but shared over areas of the hotel. Not sure of the cyber security with that, but the coverage was usually good.
The thatched roofs making up from leaves trap some moisture and so mold grow inside them. Inside the room ( SwastiWood), you will definitely have a musty smell. We were surprised as a sudden thud sound and noticed a green drop on the red bed sheet. It was the poop dropping from the lizard (geckos or cicak)from the thatched ceiling. When it rain, water leaked from the roof mostly in the bathroom and water seep in from the front entrance. After the rain we called in to the front desk to request clean up. The male maid came in clean it up but the floor was still wet. So, I called in and the front desk offered to move our room to a smaller room elsewhere with a concrete white ceiling. We were relieved. The Mansion hotel has 6 swimming pools and many lounging pools. It has many other facilities spread over its vast ground such as yoga pavilion, a big art gallery and other smaller art galleries. Right at the entrance there is the dentist room and an aesthetic center. This is one of the largest ground of hotel in Bali with many buildings/ villas The main swimming pool (Sunrise pool) has a poolside bar. This is where you get your morning breakfast. The hotel provide complimentary shuttle van service to Ubud market. It would drop you off in front of the Palace temple. The van leave the hotel at 0900, 1100, 1300, 2500, 1700 and 1900 hours. It would pick you up at the same spot at 1130, 1330, 1530, 1730, 1930 and 2100 hours. For off schedule hours if you requires a ride, it would charge Rp80,000. The ride is going thru twist and turn of the narrow streets. Sometimes if you are unlucky (or lucky) the van may stuck behind a big group (100-300+ people) Bali religious Procession. This would then delay the trip by 10 to 20 minutes. At one time, the driver took a long detour and took 30 minutes extra (traffic jam included). Most of the employees greet us whenever coming upon us. Some workers walking along might just give a little smile or knob on their head and go along their way. I visited the inhouse art museum/collections. Hotel guests would have to phone in first to get the door unlocked. I found the paintings to be just alright (nothing spectacular). Overall, I like this place and would come back again because buffet breakfast is included. I booked the hotel with the Tripadvisor linked to Priceline hotel booking for USD $70 nett/night. The Priceline confirmation page sent to me in my email did not state any breakfast. However, when I enquire the front desk to make sure, they told me that all rooms come with complimentary breakfast. We are light eater and were happy to dine there. Most other hotel charge us a fortune but we only consume one tenth of the actual value.
Stayed here 5 nights emailed the hotel and negotiated some free spa treatments . This is a lovely quite hotel to stay and relax . Beautiful food In the restaurant the staff are amazing. Our rooms were lovely the only thing I would recommend to travellers is to buy one of those plug in mosquito repellants because of the thatch style roofs we had mozzies but once we got the repellant it was fine
