The Balinese have been wonderful hosts for us and our baby, but the Lovina staff really went beyond to make us feel welcome and relaxed. The standout staff win help you with everything and always offer a genuine "hello". The pool at the back of the resort offers a quiet respite from the busy main pool, but lacks a bar area. The rooms are a good size and the air con is efficient. The restaurant choices is varied, the food is well portioned, well presented and tasty. The spa offers great treatments with friendly staff and real pampering experience in a beautiful setting. Dinner at the beach side tables is a must and the purposefully placed boat is a nice touch for photos! The resort is ideal for lounging and a 10 minute walk along the beach to the centre of town. The one downside is its maybe a bit pricey - but for the quality and type of hotel, I didn't grudge it too much. The baby loved it!
Collected and driven home by the resort's complementary car, The Lovina is a luxury resort away from the main drag. The entrance is that of a grand hotel, the accommodation is made up of a variety of apartments and private villas with pools. The cocktail bar and restaurant are between the huge communal pool and the private beach front. Great cocktails made by waiters in traditional dress. Lovely dinner and music from a live band. Great evening.
From the minute our driver collected us from the airport to the moment we left, the staff at this wonderful hotel made us feel like royalty. Always with a smile, very attentive and generally provided an excellent service. We were given a complimentary upgrade and spa treatment. The Spa is truly wonderful, be sure to visit and have a massage in the most beautiful & tranquil setting. Breakfast was delicious always providing eggs / pancakes to order along side fruit, yoghurt, breads other hot dishes. The grounds are well kept and the beach / pool setting are beautiful by day and at sunset. Had great fun using the complimentary paddle boards to head out for sun set. We went out on a dolphin sunrise cruise, magical. Did 2 tours with the hotel and had a driver to take us on to ubud following our stay. Our drivers were friendly, helpful and safe. Towels & cold water provided on all trips. Free 24hr shuttle into town. I can't recall the names of all the wonderful staff as there were so many. Reception staff were completely on it, you truly couldn't have asked for more. We were very sad to leave after our 4 days. Go Experience the magic for yourselves Huge thank you to all the staff at Lovina (tasha & susie)
We spent 5 nights at The Lovina. A beautiful resort on a beautiful part of the world. Our stay in a villa with our own pool was amazing. We were made so welcome with wonderful staff, food, facilities and beautiful garden surrounds. So looking forward to a return visit.
After visiting Canguu and Seminyak we travelled North to Lovina. It's a very peaceful place and ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. The Lovina is right on the water and absolutely beautiful. Our villa was stunning and spacious. Having our own pool was fabulous but the shared pool was also beautiful. The restaurant situated right on the water was fabulous and food amazing. The service was great also. Would recommend the trip to Lovina. It's an amazing place with a lovely village feel.
This resort is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff are fantastic and from the moment you walk in, you feel totally at home. The location is perfect. Beach on one side, rice paddies on the other and away from the traffic. We are here for 4 nights which will go way too quickly. We love it.
So in doubt if I should give them Average, but gave them very good due to friendly and service minded staff. Here are pros and cons: PRO: - beautiful beach restaurant looking at sunset - nice pool, also with ocean view - really service minded personnel - great to live right in front of the pool with kids - we had a good time there. CONS: - Dolphin tours arranged by hotel are dangerous. They promised me lifejackets for me and my kid. Then once we are ready to go, he said "we don't use" WTF. Also, he pored gas all over the boat so it smelled, managed to run the engine empty still. Then broke the engine so we had to get pulled to shore by another boat. Horror trip, just not safe. Other tour boats have lifejackets so pick one of those. - first room we got was at garden pool. It had outdoor bathroom - and the area seems like a Ghost part of the hotel. Not a single living being. Make sure to book pool and ocean facing rooms. We could not stay here with a baby, so they upgraded us to pool facing room which was super nice of them, but roomed smelled, had many flies and even more dead flies under curtain. It was OK, but not great. - hotel really tries to take advantage of tourist (they are not alone at this I know). But became too much when they sent us wth two small kids to a super dangerous hike that we had to give up on, and charged us 150k/hour for a very old car. Also insisted we pay for three hours even if we just needed two. When I then complain they offer me to just pay for the driver cost which is 150k. They tried to be nice, but makes me even more upset that they charge me 450k, and then pay the driver 150! I understand they need to make a margin, but 200% is just not right. Shame on you "The Lovina". - breakfast was so so, for the pricelevel of the hotel, and they squeeze the entire orange for juice which is a big parasite risk, and taste bad:( - beach in front has muddy water, with plastic in it. Not at all nice beach for swimming. In general I do not recommend staying too long in the north. We drove over The mountains on the way there and there was some nice views but long trip. We drove past the floating temple on the way. Ack which was also nice.
If you are staying at or near the Lovina there is a small warung up on the main road that offers true Balinese cooking classes for about AUD$25 per head. It is not flash or high end but offers the chance to experience something off the tourist trail. Warung Kunyit Bali run by Gede Aza (+6287762349846) is remarkable. We were shown how to cook the classic Mee Goreng and a fabulous chicken curry that used no oil - just candle nuts - and then enjoyed the food as the traffic belted past. Truly a very different experience and far more memorable than eating at yet another pizza restaurant.
We've spent one night at the Lovina - a mandatory pit stop to pay a visit to the resident dolphins - and the place was just great. Private and direct access to the beach, big & deep pool, skilled bartender on the beach, incredibly comfortable beds, super friendly staff make the stay in this hotel very pleasant. Unique drawback of the experience : the food is clearly below the standards.
We spent nearly one week in Bali for sight-seeing and added 8 nights in "The Lovina" for relaxing and scuba-diving afterwards. It was a good strategy, because after the hectic life in the south of Bali and at all the tourist´s hot spots we really enjoyed the quite, discreet, relaxing days at The Lovina in the north of Bali. The hotel is fabelous and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We felt very pampered, had a lovely villa with our own pool at the beach. Loved the outdoor shower and bath. Every evening we enjoyed a private sundown, because there were only a few at the beach. We went out for dinner (exploring the surroundings) and the staff at the reception always provided a shuttle. We also had dinner three times at the hotel and enjoyed it as well. The Spa and the treatments are very relaxing I recommend this lovely hotel for families as well as for couples.
