Puri Garden Hotel and Hostel

I stayed in the dorms at Puri Gardens two separate times for a total of five nights. Dorms - The dorm rooms are well-designed. There are large lockers under each bed, with a lock provided. The beds each have a light, an outlet, and CURTAINS! All hostels should have these things. There is A/C in the dorms but guests don't have control over it - that is a small area for improvement. The dorms are super hot during the day, so if you want to chill inside in the shade or take a nap, you will be really hot. People also tend to leave the dorm doors open once the A/C is turned on, which lets all the cold air out. Maybe on check-in the staff could remind guests to shut the doors. A fresh towel (!!) and a bottle water is provided each day. The duvets are cozy, if it's cool enough to use them. Facilities - As you can tell from other reviews, the pool area is great! Hammocks, lounge chairs, and plenty of grassy area to lounge on. Very social, too. It's easy to meet others around the pool. Pool towels provided - that is amazing! Free yoga every morning! As the sun is rising it gets a bit hot but can't beat free on a backpacker budget :) The bathrooms are pretty good. They are usually quite clean, with plenty of toilets, sinks and shower stalls. Good water pressure and hot water, if you're into that sort of thing. There's a shelf where you can leave your toiletries, which is handy. My only qualm with the bathrooms is that they can be very hot. There are fans but not A/C. You basically will start sweating again right after you shower! WiFi quality, as with most places in Indonesia, varies. Food - The free breakfast is great! Wonderful coffee, and four options for food (eggs and toast, nasi goreng, cereal and fruit, and banana pancake). The cereal is a processed kids' cereal, and it would be great if that option was granola and yogurt, but all the other options are really yum. I ate lunch here several times, and the wraps and salads are good. 25 percent discount for people staying at the hotel. Staff - The staff in the restaurant and at the front desk are super friendly. I left my bathing suit there on my first visit and was really sad about it, because it was brand new. They found it and held it safely for me until I came back a week later. The guys also helped me find an adapter that had fallen deep under one of the bunk beds. Kudos to the staff! Activities - I would suggest not booking activities like a Mount Batur hike through the front desk. It's a lot more expensive than the places on the street and we found, for our Batur trek at least, that the quality of the tour company was not good. Shop around. The hotel-organized tour to the school/waterfall got rave reviews from my friends, though! They hotel has started doing barbecues every so often with all-you-can-eat food, a live band, and beer pong. I'm a bit above the beer pong age range but the food is good and the bands are fun. They are quite loud if you're an early to bed person, but they don't happen very frequently.

This hostel and hotel saved us when our original booking decided not to respond or be at reception on arrival at 2am in the morning. We had to pay more than our original booking but it is safe to say it was worth it with the helpful staff and large double bed. The room had a large double bedroom, a fridge a tv that didn’t work (who needs a tv on holiday!) and a kettle. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was clean and tidy every day. The bathroom could do with a tidy, the shower head was lose and the crashing of the door feared that it would shatter! The breakfast was a choice if continental (eggs, bacon or sausage, mushroom or spinach and toast), coco crunch and fresh fruit, traditional Indonesia breakfast and banana pancakes with a juice, tea or coffee. We had food at the restaurant which was very good also. The inside garden with free yoga at 7am and then beautiful looking pool is pleasurable view when chilling! If you are backpacking this is the place for you.

Stayed here for 4 nights. From a backpacker point of view, this place is amazing. Dorm rooms are newly done, clean and fully functional. The pool is excellent and the included breakfast is incredible. Jack, the bar supervisor, is really good at networking and making sure guests are having a great time. Infact, all the local employees were brilliant during my stay - always friendly and smiling. I did pick up some attitude and bad vibes from the guy running it... As did most people I spoke to there. Apart from that, it was great. Location is good, showers and toilets are spotless and really great value for money. I did switch to the private rooms for a couple of nights as dorms were fully booked and thought some of the facilities needed updated. Also... Sophie the puppy... Definitely the most popular guest. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Lovely place! It has a very special atmosphere where you feel comfortable immediately. If you want a light snack I recommend the tuna poke bowl. It's very tasty and not too heavy. One the staff members told us there is kind of a pool party every late afternoon with free entry. Unfortunately we couldn't go. But I guess these partys are great.

First I'll point the positive points of the hotel. The pool is awesome, the restaurant as well (A bit expensive, though). The room itself is not too bad and the beds are comfortable Now... Well the staff is inconpetent and rude (Specially the manager, a lady with a lot of bad attitude and no managing skills whatsoever) I booked a bed on the dorms for one night. I get to the hotel after a reservation 4 days before my arrival. The manager informed that I've been "upgraded" to a twin bed room due to a lack of space on the dorms. She expalin to me that somebody else might join me to share the room (Surprise, surprise, I dont know when). In principle that not 100% ok but I booked a bunk bed on a dorm, so what the hell... The bedroom is ok but the bathroom (Specially the bathtub) is full of fungus and the walls yellow of not being scrubbed for a while... Quite disgusting. Anyway...I ask for the security box and they inform me that the do not have one in the twin room. Making a 1 moth travelling with my laptop and a lot of cash and passport, that's a big no-no to me. The offer to keep my belonging on the reception, that, they say, it's open 24/24. When I leave my stuff, they ask me to specify how much money I have, to show them, etc which seems to me a total invasion of my privacy, but I go along because of the security purposes. I go out at night and after I get to the hotel, I need to prepare my check-in for my flight and other work related stuff so I ask to get my laptop back. The guy at the reception HAD NO IDEA OF WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, he was not informed of a laptop stored anywhere. He starts to freaking out, making calls and naturally I start freaking out too. I could not access my stuff and worst, I had no idea where they were!! I already was unhappy about all the messy situation and the bad attitude of the manager at first but this went over the top. They asked me to wait the next day to get my stuff. Result, Me, a 30 year old woman, had no access to my passport, my money and my laptop. I go to bed beyond mad and worried about my belogings and I barely sleep. The next day I'm woken up by someone of the staff at 8am (Because leaving their clients sleep is not something to considerate, and they give me my laptop. Apparently the lady in the day shift stored them somewhere and got the key with her. Then I'm woken up (Yes, AGAIN) by this lady who came to apologise to me (I reckon this could not wait later and my sleep was again, not important at all). At the moment of check-out, the manager, with a extremely disrespecful attitude, explained to me how all this was not a big deal and how my opinion had no importance to her. She just responded with a robotical "I apologise" I just realised this did not worth the hassle. But surely I wont put a foot on this hotel ever again.

We loved staying here the hotel/ hostel was so pretty. The staff are so friendly and the food is unbelievable. Beds are super super comfortable in the dorms. Worth every penny! Free yoga class in the morning too!

Clean room, friendly staff, nice pool. Even though the bathrooms are not in the rooms, they're clean and spacious. They even have a hair dryer, shampoo and soap in the shower. They offer a clean towel and a bottle of water everyday when they clean the beds. Good price, good food. Awesome place to relax with beanbags at the pool after a day in town.

Very clean hostel/hotel, more of a hotel vibe than a hostel. Very new and modern, quiet. Very chilled atmosphere. Free yoga in the morning. Sister restaurant next door bookings include free breakfast, continental, Indonesian or pancakes, small but enough! Small selection in the restaurant but delicious and affordable!

There was massive renovation work happening. The management should have informed the guests of the same before one reached. Considering I had made the booking more than 3 weeks in advance. The place and rooms are fine but it was noisy with workers all over and everything was quite in disarray..

We stayed there for three nights in july 2017. Beautiful garden and swimmingpool. Well maintained building in Balinese temple style. Clean rooms. Bed was brand new. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good but could be a little more. Everything was working properly (hot water, airconditioning). One disadvantage: some of the rooms (i believe the more expensive ones were we stayed in) don't have an outside space to sit or hang clothes. Conclusion I would defenitely go there again as long there are rooms available with an outside space.
