Booking their villa through Booking.com I was surprised to find on arrival they had already taken the full amount from my card. My daughters flight had been delayed in Doha and they had telephoned the hotel and left a message for me.all that afternoon and evening it remained a scribbled note at the front desk that was never relayed or delivered. So that night I went to Bali airport on a fool's mission and wasted three and a half hours till 2am and a 200,00 Rupiah taxi fare that was arranged by the hotel who knew why I was going to the airport. Realizing what had happened I decided to wait and see what would happen three times that day I was at the front desk before someone finally told me I had a message.When I told them what had happened I received a a blank stare.No apology or compensation was offered nor did I ask for any.Sloppy does not cover this. To mention that the TV and the safe needed fixing or that the bed canopy was stained and musty seems almost too trivial to mention
We stayed in a downstairs villa and loved the outside living area complete with fishpond and fully enclosed garden with undercover seating. The bedroom was small but fine for the two of us as we spent all our time outside on the patio. The bathroom was very tired but that would have been the only real problem with the room. The pool is clean and has pool lounges available. The restaurant was terrible so after our first and only dinner we only ever went there for our complimentary breakfast. The hotel is set back from the beach and the main area of Seminyak but it is only a ten minute walk to the beach.
My husband and I have stayed here many times and always enjoyed our stay. This is a traditional style Balinese hotel with various room type options. Over the years I have stayed in all the various rooms except the downstairs villas. The superior rooms are spacious with reasonably comfortable beds. The hotel has a lovely pool and the restaurant serves an excellent buffet breakfast with great omlettes. It also serves complimentary afternoon tea with biscuits and yummy deep fried banana or other tasty treats. The staff are helpful and friendly especially Agus Lukman who always goes out of his way to help us. Unfortunately this hotel has not kept up with the maintenance especially the airconditioning which is never cold enough. They are not powerful enough to cool the large rooms sufficiently and many are simply not working properly. We have had to move rooms several times in an attempt to get a cool room. The T.V 's have dodgy receptions. Noise from the busy main road is also a problem but this depends on where the room is situated. Will return to this hotel again but will check the airconditioners before checking in.
This hotel is okay to stay at. This was our family holiday, so we stayed in the villa. Villa was very clean, the air conditioning worked, but the bathroom taps and showerhead need replacing. All the towels are either faded or frayed or both, this includes the pool towels. Staff are okay, however, they do not go out of their way for you, one almost feels like guests are an inconvenience to them. The positives are that this hotel is close (walking distance) to the main streets of Seminyak, and one does not get hassled on the way to the main streets.
Pros: Walking distance to Seminyak shops and cafes, several convenience stores around the hotel that open 24/7, walking distance to Legian Beach, free transport 9one way only) to Kuta town twice a day (10am and 6pm), room is spacious Cons: Hotel a bit run down, low water pressure in shower, difficult to adjust between the hot and cold water
When we arrived the air conditioner was leaking and noisy. I have requested to change to a different room. The receptionist was kindly changed us to the next room. Friendly staff and comfortable room. The hotel has a Balinese touch with a combination of modern facilities in the room.
Our email confirmation included free breakfast, we went to get our free breakfast but the hotel said it was not included. I showed them my reservation email but they still did not take it. We were extremely unhappy nor did we feel safe leaving our valuables in our room or their safe behind reception. There was no trust. In a dodgy area too. The room was also disgraceful (room 300). There was leakage through the roof, no hot water through the shower and sheets had stains all over them to say the least.
I have stayed at this hotel on and off for a few years. Pluses are that the staff are very friendly- particularly since they have got to know us over regular visits. The pool is big enough to swim in as well as sit in. The established trees and layout through the hotel feel very 'Bali'. Rooms are good sizes and even when adding extra beds you don't have to clamber over other beds to get in and out. Breakfasts are decent- omelettes to order, pancakes and bacon if you request it. The location is an easy walk to the quieter end of Jalan Legian, and not too much in taxis to other places. They also offer airport pick up or drop off as part of the room rate, so that's another positive. It seems that the hotel was possibly built as a mid-range hotel some years ago but as time has passed, has struggled to maintain competitiveness in the current market. It's tricky because the puri dewa has Balinese owners (I was told) and the idea of supporting local owners is good, rather than money going to Java or offshore. Despite this, the puri dewa is getting run down. There is damp & mould on the walls. Flooring is coming up. The water pressure in some showers is very poor. Paint is peeling. The older villa-style units are wood-framed, making mosquitoes a constant room mate. There is only one inter-connecting room. There are two villas that have an internal staircase, although this is still outside but within the villa wall. If travelling with kids this is an issue (for me), and these are not really an option for babies and toddlers. Overall, I want to like it more than I do at the moment. It desperately needs work- repairs and painting. Villas lock by traditional wood block, but the fence could easily be scaled. For the money, I would definitely book a night if you are flying in late or leaving on a midnight flight so you can use the pool, do a final pack or similar, but wouldn't stay longer at the moment.
I always stay here with the family - granted it is nothing amazing but what do people expect for $45 per night. I love the small feel to the place and could not think of anything worse than staying at a resort full of loud and obnoxious guests. For those that travel to Bali regularly - this would be fine! For those wanting the holiday of your life it mat be best to look elsewhere. Always greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile!
We upgraded to the villa we wanted and received an email to say it was available ,guess what it wasn't. Gave us the run around then settled on one ,so dark in the villas ,bed ok we slept well .breakfast we loved ,staff are friendly ,pool small but a nice area to chill ,place just doesn't feel clean,towels yuck ! Wouldn't recommend or stay again . Miles away from the beach too!
