My husband and I had a wonderful nine night stay at Komaneka at Tanggayuda. From the moment we arrived, our assistant for the week, Eva, made us feel right at home, showed us around the resort and ensured we had everything we needed (including a delicious welcome drink). They even gave us a free cake as we were celebrating our honeymoon. Our package included a one hour massage each at no charge. We stayed in valley view pool villa which beautiful. It was very well cleaned twice a day for us, and they always provided us with free bottles of water, fresh fruit, coffee/nespresso maker and cookies. There is also a stocked mini fridge that is reasonably priced. All facilities throughout the resort are very well looked after. It is located about 15 minute drive from Ubud town and the resort provides free shuttle to and from the monkey forest hotel each day. The drivers are very accommodating, dropping you off or picking you up anywhere along their route. This is helpful for visiting the ridge walk, museum and some fantastic restaurants. We also hired a private driver through the hotel for a day to tour us around for the day which was around 80 CDN for 5 hours. Awesome way to see some major sites. Throughout the week all staff members were extremely accommodating. Our assistant, Eva, as well as all the front desk workers were always willing to assist us in anyway they could. The wait staff at the restaurant were all so attentive and friendly...we loved getting to know some of the fantastic staff like Eva, Rudi, Adi and Wika (just to name a few!). The included breakfast was delicious and ran on a three day cycle. Lunch and dinner options were plentiful. Overall, we would highly recommend staying at this resort. We couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon thanks to the incredible staff, beautiful grounds and the upbeat town of Ubud. We are so happy we booked here!
My partner and I stayed in Komaneka at Tanggayuda for two nights during our trip to Bali in April. We were amazed by the amazing service and attitude the staff at Komaneka had to offer. Upon check in we were given a welcome and refreshing welcome drink while we were given the details of our visit. Although we booked a King bed we were given two twin beds and the staff wasted no time in fixing the mistake. Breakfast and afternoon tea can be served in room or at the restaurant and the staff were very attentive in letting us know what we were presented with in each meal. On a side note, it would have been better if the pools inside the villas were heated as it was just too cold at times to use the pool inside the villa. Finally, the lack of transportation around the area can be a pain at times.
The hotel is beautifully set in a stunning landscape. The rooms are tastefully decorated with good amenities but lack sufficient lighting particularly in the bathroom. You need to pick your room carefully as not all have stunning views (even some of the top premier rooms). However, the hotel is badly let down by management. Staff are friendly and polite but are not adequately trained and or lack sufficient guidance on how to treat customers. It is clear that this comes from the top. On check in one of the staff spilled juice on my nephews t-shirt. While he apologised there was no offer of getting it laundered. No one showed us around the hotel or informed us of the facilities or activities at the hotel. Nor did they tell us that we could use our half-board at the other Komaneka properties. Our original room had a number of issues - telephone was not working; had not been cleaned properly; did not have sufficient items for three people; air conditioning units were behind boards that had bent meaning the air conditioning remote signal did not reach them and so we could not adjust the temperature; and worst of all had hot water issues. All of this meant that we had to change rooms. We later found out that staff were aware of the hot water issue but still allocated that room to us on check-in when others were available. In the our second room there was less natural light and we had to get extra lighting put in the rooms. We often had to call housekeeping to clear items from the room - there did not appear to be a self realisation that used plates should be taken away. The hotel has two pools but only one is staffed. We had to request staff for the terrace pool to provide towels, etc. The other pool is next to the main kitchen and therefore often gets strong smells. Further staff are often absent from the area and one has to go looking for them for service. Food overall was ok - good on some days poor on others. What was good was the choice and daily changing breakfast menu. Restaurant staff were attentive but service was slow. The hotel only offers its cars for transfers to the airport. If you want a taxi you have to call it yourselves from Ubud town centre. The hotel cost is ridiculously expensive at around £45 ($60) oneway. When we complained and said their main hotel competitor was a third cheaper we were told this was their price and it was fixed. When we complained again he offered $10 discount. This may be harsh but it felt to us as if this hotel sees its guests as nothing more than money making agents. We never really felt 'welcome in their home' as we have at other Bali hotels notably The Kayon Resort. This was a massive disappointment - would we stay again - no.
Excellent hotel with excellent experience. Hospitality of the receptionist left great impression for me. A good receptionist called Gek gave a lot help to book the travel from hotel to Longbongan Island. Thanks Gek and Komaneka!
We have stayed 4 nights for our honeymoon in Courtyard Pool Villa in the hotel. After a long flight and late arrival, our personal assistant in the hotel Mr. Wayan kindly greeted us with ginger teas and cookies in the lounge area facing an amazing view of the resort, which made our arrival to the hotel instantly pleasant. All information needed for our stay was summarized to us and we were ready for our room. The room had and amazing view of the forest and a private small plunge pool with a stone bath tub. The hotel provides in room dining at no additional cost and the breakfast in the beautiful view of the room was one of the highlights of our stay: The breakfast menu changes daily and each one of the main choices (avocado poached egg, omelettes, french toast etc...) is served with fresh fruit, jam and a selection of fresh baked pastries from the oven. Pain au Chocolate and banana jam is especially worth a try!! The room includes almost every amenity you would need and tastefully decorated. The in-room Apple Tv includes recent movies and music you can enjoy in the room. The rooms are provided with fresh fruit and homemade cookies every morning. Our arrangement with the hotel included a la carte lunch or dinner option. The food menu is also quite rich. The food and service quality provided in the restaurant is five star, our hosts were very friendly, attentive and took individual interest in us during our stay. It was mostly raining during our stay, but it was still very enjoyable since the hotel and Ubud has lots to offer. The infinity pools of the hotel provide all the calm and serenity you can expect from Ubud. They have a gym and heated pool and all sorts of activities you may try. We have tried the hotel SPA for a massage and body scrub- it was also quite good. The hotel has a great location, a bit far from Ubud center, but the hotel provides shuttle service and can arrange hotel car with additional charge if you choose to travel out of shuttle schedule. The hotel staff, including the drivers are all very helpful and you can ask for recommendations on what to see around. In general, everyone in the hotel greets you with a friendly face which makes you feel welcomed at all times. At the time we were leaving, as we were thinking it could not get any better, we were offered a gift bag with delicious cookies and pashminas. All in all, a big thanks to front office management and hotel staff for an amazing honeymoon in the middle of the heaven!
Location is great, tucked away from the crazyness of Ubud town. Our room was beautiful - right in the canopy of the forest, lovely plunge pool, great bathroom (my wife loved the bathroom - spacious and his/hers areas, separate freestanding bathtub and shower room. The food was of a very high standard, totally enjoyed the menu choice and the well spiced food. Thank you Komaneka
I have stayed in many beautiful resorts in many beautiful locations but never, have I ever, been so impressed with a welcome like the one in Komaneka at Tangayyuda. My partner and I arrived here from Uluwatu after already being in Bali for 10 nights. We were greeted by Yuni - our personal assistant (who I will continue to sing praises for the remainder of this review). She is the loveliest, warmest, friendliest and most genuine member of hotel staff I have ever met. She sat us down for afternoon tea and we enjoyed complimentary coconut cake, spring rolls and sweet sticky rice. She learnt that I was part Indonesian and continued to teach me Balinese words and phrases whilst making us laugh with her good humor. The manager came out to greet us and made us feel like royalty. He stopped for a chat and I actually wondered if we were the only people in the resort - they truly made us feel so special and important. After our refreshments, Yuni took us on a tour of the resort and discussed what we would like to do during our stay. Wood carving classes for my partner, cooking and yoga classes for me. We mentioned the Mt Batur volcano trek we had already organised that required a 2am pick up and Yuni swiftly suggested a breakfast box be organized so we can enjoy our meal early and then proceeded to ask how we take our coffee so it can also be prepared. Yuni was impeccably observant and accommodating. She noticed my peeling arms and when I asked about body scrub services, she organised some body scrub to be sent to our room. She also asked if we like pork suckling and has organised some to be sent to our room tomorrow for lunch - all complimentary. We are staying in the premier valley pool villa and it is absolutely stunning. The rooms are massive, there is an infinity pool over looking the jungle, Apple TV is provided and the jar of cookies next to our rose petal - laden bed all contribute to what I can only say has been the most impressive first impression of a resort I have ever had!! Yuni has organised and delivered our itinerary for the next few days and I cannot wait to see how the rest of our stay turns out. Thank you Komaneka for such an incredible experience so far - you have done very well employing someone like Yuni to look after your residents.
We travel a lot to various parts of the world, and I’m not trying to sound cliché or over-the-top, but our stay Komaneka was one of the most amazing experiences OF OUR LIVES. I would like to give a very special and a very BIG thank you to one of the managers there. Ms. Gek THANK YOU FOR THE MAGICAL MOMENT. I could’ve never done it without you and I’ll never forget it. Here’s why it was so amazing: the drive up to the main entrance is so pretty. The check-in area has plenty of lounges around in case you have to wait to be helped (which we didn’t have to do fortunately). But even if you do have to wait, you can get a couple drinks and enjoy the beautiful open-air view that overlooks the main garden area (this is my favourite area and I’ll tell you why after you read on a little more). We were guided down the stairs on to a path that follows that open garden area. A left and a right and we were at our villa’s entrance. Our villa was MASSIVE! The bed had flowers and rose-petals arranged on it with pyjamas and slippers. There was a flat-screen LCD with Apple TV and although you might not be able to log in to your Netflix, Komaneka has connected its own server of music and moves to your Apple TV so you can watch all the latest Hollywood blockbusters when you’re relaxing after a long day. The bathroom is also huge with separate His and Hers areas, leading in to another area with a bathtub, separate room with toilet and another with a standing shower. The standing shower room also leads to an outside area with another shower in case you want to wash up in an outdoor setting with plants around you. The main room and bathtub areas both lead to the terrace. We did some research before we booked anything and found out that VILLA 102 is the BEST VILLA at Komaneka. Rightly so – our terrace had a view of the Indonesian jungle as far as you can see. It starts right under your nose. The terrace is massive and we hung out there quite a bit during the day, tanning and swimming, and even in the afternoon we had our tea and snacks (provided by Komaneka and included in the cost of the room) in the corner seating area. The restaurant was right next door and we never missed breakfast. They have a great selection of food, cooked the way we wanted. Again, this is included in the cost of the villa. Everytime we left our room, we came back to it neatly made up without us even putting up any “please make up my room” sign! We walked around the property which was so peaceful with a lot of greenery. Random benches can be found for you to use and just sit on. We visited the floor above the restaurant which is again a lounge that is partly covered. We hung out in the sun and then on the lounge-beds drinking coffee and eating fruit. There’s a carom board there in case you want to have a little fun. What was also included in the cost of the villa was a free his and hers massage for 90 minutes. They really spoiled us. Washed and massaged our feet, and gave us full body massages. Gave us a drink before and a cold drink and snack after. Now my favourite part, the manager Ms. Gek and I had a secret conversation about arranging something special. I told her that I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend in another area of Bali after checking-out and leaving Ubud, but I was so awe-struck by how beautiful the Komaneka property was, I HAD TO PROPOSE THERE! Ms. Gek was able to organize flowers, petals and candles and arrange them in that big open garden area in front of the lobby to form a giant heart. It was going to be at night so she even arranged for a little spot-light to be fixed on to one of the trees so that the big heart would be lit up nice and bright. Her acting skills were on point – the night before when we were heading out for dinner, she asked us if we would be part of a “photoshoot” for Komaneka’s website. We would need to dress up nicely (good job) and a photographer would take pictures of us in the lobby-lounge area (near the garden – great job!). The spot-light wasn’t on so my girlfriend could not see the heart in the garden. When the time was right, I took her down the lobby stairs on to the grass, the Komaneka team on their walkie-talkies coordinated with each other under Ms. Gek’s supervision and switched on the spot-light while we were approaching the garden. The heart lit up big and beautiful, I took my girlfriend in to the middle of it, told her how much I loved her and asked her to be mine till the end of forever. She said yes!! The hotel staff clapped and cheered and made it such a magical moment that I will always be grateful for. Thank you Ms. Gek and THANK YOU KOMANEKA! For those of you reading, don’t even think twice. Book this place NOW and try and stay at Villa 102! We’ll be back soon <3. Mack
Greeting immediately received when you step down from the car. The reception will recognized you, and have all the paper works to sign. It will not take more than ten minutes, and someone will take you for resorts tour or directly to your room. We were taken for a welcome drinks, and the general manager, Mr. Sudharta, came up to greet us. Then we continued to see the famous Batukaru restaurant that has excellent food and views. We recommend the Premier Valley Pool Villa. It was so amazing, private and great valley forest view right in front of you. Room was great, large and clean. Large bathroom too, and love the outdoor shower. Fresh tropical fruits and chocolate cookies were served everyday in the room. Our suggestion is that the management should paid more attention to the maintenance of the outdoor facilities. Pool was excellent, but the decks and furniture would be nicer if well polished. Batukaru restaurant was excellent as reviews by other guests. Food choices were not so many, but each so tasty and always has a personal touch of special taste for the chef. So, it will always not be the same as the food you eat in other places. We had our breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we always had a surprise. Fine dinning with affordable price. The service was great too. Shuttle service to Ubud center was very helpful. We could understand if it sometimes a bit late of the schedule due to the traffic during holiday season. We wish that we could come back again for a longer stay. Our greeting to all the staffs. Thanks for the beautiful gifts on our departure.
Beautiful surroundings and an amazimg "Premiere" pool villa were definitely the highlights of this stay! The service at the hotel was exceptional. Anything that needed attention was dealt with immediately and properly. Breakfast was average and could improve but dinner was very tasty. Half board is recommebed for best value.
