Kayumanis Nusa Dua Private Villa & Spa5.0 out of 5.0

This charming property keeps winning awards (the latest in London the other day!) and once you stay here you understand why. The private pool villa, the Indonesian and the Italian restaurant, the staff, the spa, the chauffeured service to get out and about are all utterly fantastic and the icing on the cake is to be surrounded by nature. As the sun comes up the birds start singing and the squirrels are jumping from tree to tree - it's such a great way to start the day. The food served for breakfast, lunch and dinner is 5-star! My daughter and I stayed here in a 2 bedroom pool villa and recommend it highly.
This is a lovely place, the service, the breakfast, the afternoon tea, the chauffeur service, the pool villa, the beach, the airport pick up/drop off, the unlimited bottle of water, the snacks. Everything was first class. We had a fabulous time.
The private villas here are much bigger than we were expecting - as animal lovers we were delighted having a tree within the grounds of our villa that was frequented by a number of squirrels every day, who were more than happy coming and eating any snacks offered out of our hands! Having breakfast and afternoon tea delivered to the villa to eat privately was a great addition and really added to the luxury feel of the resort. The fact that this resort is much smaller with a smaller private beach area felt so much nicer than the rest of the large resort hotels along the strip!
We were on our honeymoon last September and this place was recommended by our travel agent. To cut a beautiful story short, that was one of the best stays in my life. If you're looking for some serenity and tranquility before leaving Nusa Dua to more busy places in Bali, then this is the place to spend 3-4 nights of luxury, excellent service and spacious rooms. You'll be pampered in this hotel and you'll feel at home. The nearby shores are not interesting. This is a place to relax inside your villa. I'm not sure if all villas have a pool but it's certainly worth investing in a villa that has one.
This is a lovely place, however as the title suggests, silly little things started to add up which tainted our stay. Had we not had such a wonderful stay in Ubud for the 3 days previously, my review would have been more favorable. Pros: Chauffeur service fantastic - even when a car wasn't available to take us to Jimbaran one night they paid for a taxi for us Staff - very friendly, service with a smile. The guys in the beach bar were particularly pleasant and good fun and kept us refreshed while we relaxed on the beach. Food - breakfast delivered hot to the room every morning was really good, and lunch delivered to the sun loungers on the beach was a highlight also. Complimentary mini bar - 4 soft drinks & 2 beers free per day in the room mini bar. We could have used more beer & less soft drinks but the beer was cheap enough to have more delivered to the room. Bikes - the complimentary bikes are a fun and quick way to get to the beach as the walk down the long straight path gets very monotonous! You need to get in early though as we found all the bikes were usually gone by late morning. Cons: Check in - we arrived minutes before check in time after a 90 min drive from Ubud to be told our Villa wasn't ready. We were shown to a waiting room and told to expect a call shortly to let us know the villa was ready, and were told our welcome drinks would be sent up to us. We sat there bored & thirsty for around 45 mins as neither the call nor drinks came. The number of Chinese weddings - we witnessed around 3 or 4 a day, every day!! The receptions were held either on the beach or by the main pool in the evenings. The impact on the other guests is that for 3 out of our 4 days the main pool was unavailable as it was set up for functions. It impacted on our use of the beach as we had to lower our voices to a whisper one evening while drinking at the beach bar and one afternoon while we were chilling on the loungers on the beach, they were setting up tables & chairs around us for the evening's reception. The sheer number of these events made us feel like gatecrashers and therefore we didn't feel as comfortable as we would have liked as there was often large numbers of wedding guests loitering in the grounds in the evenings. The villa - lovely set up and very comfortable, but there's no outdoor dining area so food at in the villa, must be eaten indoor!! Also, our towels and bed linen wasn't changed daily which was disappointing, especially considering that there was a stain on our duvet. Also, the amount of trees and tall vegetation in the villa garden meant that there wasn't much scope for sunbathing in the villa there was a lot of shaded areas. The separate villas for living area and bedroom seems odd to us as there was a lot of wasted space; we only used the living room to eat, the rest of the time it was empty, so almost 50% of the villa was redundant. A larger, single building would be much more beneficial. The welcome massage - we had a welcome massage as part of our room deal, and it was really poor, so much so that it put us off booking any of the (very expensive) spa treatments. it was a seated massage, carried out on the sofa of our Villa. To me, it felt very cursory, very half hearted, and my wife said she was in agony. We enjoyed excellent massages elsewhere in Bail so we know it's not par for the course. Nusa Dua itself - it's a purpose built resort and there's an obvious and reassuring security presence. But there's a real lack of character about the place; all I can say about it was that it's "nice", but we didn't travel for 17 hours from the UK for "nice", we'd have gone to Tenerife for nice! There's very few independent bars and restaurants if any within walking distance from the Villa, and certainly none on the beach. All the beach front bars & restaurants are part of the huge resort complexes (Soffitel, Westin etc). We had a couple of meals & drinks at these type of places, but you get fairly average food, drink & service for well above average prices! The Kayumanis' food menus looked very nice and reasonably priced, but we came to a beach resort on the other side of the world with visions of eating seafood on the beach, not Italian food in a pretentious glass cube restaurant which is why we didn't have an evening meal at Kayumanis. We did get seafood on the beach in Jambaran (see the positives section re: chauffeur service). In summary, we did enjoy our stay here and it's undoubtedly a lovely place with a lot going for it, but it didn't compare with the Komaneka in Ubud where we stayed for the previous 3 nights. It's difficult to explain, but it just didn't feel special; we didn't feel it was worth a 17 hour journey, whereas Komaneka Ubud very much was.
13 years of repeating visits. The beach drinks area is a fantastic addition and very popular. Food as always is just stunning. The staff are incredible. Astawa is leading a great kitchen team and it's the best table service breakfast in Bali. You cannot get a better fried egg anywhere. We just live this place and especially our villa - Secang.
Check In: Check in was a breeze. The staff wisked our luggage to our room while the front desk checked us in. The front staff gave us a tour of the property and showed us our Villa. The person that showed us around asked how we wanted to be addressed and spent atleast 20 minutes showing us around. It was very nice the hotel's personal touch for the level of detail. Excellent Service: Everyone knew our names. It was so nice. Everyone from the buttlers, spa people, waiters, front desk, etc new our names and always said hi to us. It felt like we were family and we absolutely loved it. -During a meal I absolutely raved about the Sambal I was eating. My wife asked for the recipe and the hotel's chef typed up the recipe! -I bought a pirate ship kite and was having trouble flying it at the beach. I got help from 2 waiters and 1 bartender. After about 15 minutes of helping me, we got the kite to fly. It sounds silly a grown adult flying a pirate ship kite on the private beach but I was on vacation and it was a memory I will always remember. -Durian. Usually hotels don't allow durian inside the rooms but being from the United States, we don't get fresh durian (durian is frozen when shipped to the States). The hotel staff helped us open the durian by the main pool and gave us serve-ware to eat the weird fruit. -Taxi: We needed to go to Jimbaran beach to eat at Made Cafe to eat bbq seafood and watch the sunset. The hotel paid for our taxi to the restaurant and paid for the taxi to return. Overall the hotel goes the extra mile for their guests. My wife and I were absolutely impressed. Oh yeah, this resort gives it's guests unlimited bottled water for free. Most resorts only give you a set number of bottle water. It's nice we got as much free bottled water we needed. Airport Pickup/Drop Off: Included Taxi or Car Service to Jimbawan/Nusa Dua: Included Bike Rentals: Included Private in villa Pool: Included Excellent Service: Included Sunrise Beach Breakfast: Included 3 Tiered Tea Time Snacks in your Villa: Included Unlimited Bottled Water: Included Would we come back to this resort: YES
The stay was upgrade to the Kayumanis Suite, so I was pleasantly surprised here.there was a clean and spacious private pool, clean floor, comfortable bed, quiet accommodation space, all the equipment was perfect Vila, delicious food, These days is just my friend's birthday, the restaurant also prepared a special birthday cake and birthday song for the birthday song, give us a lot of surprises. Especially the beach sunrise breakfast is a beautiful day start. All the staff are very kind and friendly.Where the shopping shop Small but selling things are very delicate, especially their exclusive sale of cinnamon handmade goods. With exclusive beach, no large influx of tourists. In Kayumanis Suite three days and nights let my body and mind get completely relaxed. I will again Visit this Vila. Thanks to Kayumanis staff Miss Lee cordial to Mandarin for our detailed explanation and care, thanks for Kayumanis all the staff to give us the service!
The service and the villa themselves are great. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and Benny in particular was more than helpful. The outside bathroom and the private pool give this place a real luxury feel and offer complete privacy. Only downside would be if you were looking for a bit more action as Nusa Dua itself is a very quiet resort. We were more than happy with the secluded feeling.
Fantastic service and beautiful villas. The service could not be better. Excellent value and the staff go out of their way to help book excursions, cars for long trips, and anything else you might need. Adi also helped to find a phone which my wife managed to lose on the beach. A big thank you to Yuda, Benni, Adi and Devi especially. I recommend this place for honeymoons, privacy and couples etc. The beach is nice for Bali but not quite like the Cariabbean/Maldives etc. Also the constant wedding photography by the beach club can get pretty annoying and noisy.
