The hotel was close to the beach and the staff was very friendly, lots of places to hang out and eat, there is a mall down the street that has a grocery store on the basement, over all it was a good location,
Fantastic hotel, not a lot of extras but cant beat location, restaurant and bed is so comfy.
My mom and I stayed here for one night in Feb. 2015 before catching our flight out the next evening. The hotel is right across from the beach (none are directly on the beach, so this is as close as it gets), yet our room felt like an oasis of tranquility because it was away from the street and protected from the craziness of Kuta. We had our own little private patio that had a jungle feel. The staff was fabulous. We did check-in in our room rather than at reception, and two minutes later, someone arrived at our door with welcome drink. The breakfast buffet (included with our room) was great, and we later had dinner at the restaurant, and that was also delicious. They were also very accommodating, storing our luggage for six hours between check-out and our flight. It was really a lovely experience.
nice bellhop friendly staff. the food at the buffet was really good
Where to begin: long story short -- do NOT stay here. I was traveling alone through Asia and used Bali as my base. Before staying here, I had already traveled in and out of the island 3 times. This 4th time I arrived late. First the night before my arrival, I requested a car pick-up because I was arriving around midnight and didn't feel safe (wanted to use precaution) taking a random taxi from the airport to Kuta. When I called the front desk, they told me they couldn't pick me up and the "it would be okay" to use a taxi. I arrive in Bali the next night and of course I already have to fight with the drivers on a normal price since I am being scammed. I arrive to the hotel around midnight and the staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. I literally try to carry my bags and suitcase (heavy and I was exhausted) to the desk. I will say that the gentleman that ultimately helped me to my room was helpful. Arriving at the room there was mold in the ceiling of the shower - again, not something to look forward to after a veryyyy long 24 hours of travel. The next morning was what irked me the most -- completely UNhelpful! I needed to run a few errands before departing to the US and the front desk refused to order me a metered taxi. they only recommended "their" drivers which was a COMPLETE SCAM. I literally had to beg them to just order a normal taxi that would not cost me $40 USD to move 5km (more than the cost of Kuta --> Ubud on a previous visit). ADDITIONALLY, they REFUSED to call a local taxi without charging me to use their own phone --- and then they did not even give me the change I needed; had to remind them that they owed me! When I was packing up they just stood there (the hotel wasn't busy and there were about 4 men around able to assist me as a guest). Customer service was TERRIBLE throughout the stay -- except for the waitstaff and the pool staff. The front desk was not welcoming and I will never return. Originally I was planning to re-book the hotel for my next family trip this summer 2014, but I will NOT be booking a stay at this hotel. Additionally -- the photos are deceiving in terms of spacing. Photos make the hotel bigger than it is, just FYI for future travelers. Be aware.
I've stayed here a few times, and tried to look the other way about all of the mishaps, but after a recent visit, I'm done. The hot water is nonexistent. This last time it was already 2:30 past the check in time. Even though the room was not ready, instead of telling us to come back later, they told us to wait in the lobby. 30 minutes later we decided to leave, eat, and come back. The restaurant is not that great. The pasta is not good, but the pizza was the only exception I have found. The breakfast is lacking, however a new "Flap Jacks" just opened right next door, and the breakfast and ice cream there is great, so don't fret. Overall it's not worth it anymore and the "Hotel Mercure" next door is more worth it. If you do stay here, just get the cottage. There is ample room here and it's cheap. I decided to splurge a little and upgrade the room. The room was much smaller like a hotel room, and was two floors up stairs (no elevator), so it was a waste of money. The cottage is more than enough.
