My wife and I were here on our honeymoon and loved our villa! They provide transport whenever you need it (If it's not the scheduled times, they just charge 80000 IDR). Great breakfast! It feels very small (as opposed to a large resort feel) which was very nice. It was out of the hustle and bustle of Ubud center but still easy accessible.
We stayed at Chapung Sebali 5 years ago and were keen to revisit the property as Jungle Fish had opened. There is no doubting that the view is stunning from the Junglefish restaurant/bar however I feel the resort has suffered as a result of Junglefish as most of the staff seem to be working in the Junglefish Bar. We arrived at the resort earlier than the check in time and were told our room wasn't ready so we advised staff we would eat at the restaurant until our room was ready. We returned to reception at 2 to be told our room was ready. The staff could have advised us in the restaurant that our room was ready as the restaurant was not busy. It then took staff over 1 hour to deliver our bags to the room. No welcome drink either. During our 5 nights at the resort not one staff member ever asked us our name or took any time to interact with us. We were often the only ones eating at breakfast in the restaurant and although we had the same staff every morning the staff could never remember our request for milk in our coffee and so we had to ask for milk every day. We could never gain the attention of the generous amount of staff at breakfast as they were always standing behind the pillars and out of our view. We visited the spa several times. The first was a disastrous facial with so much noise outside the room that the therapist had to go and tell the staff to be quiet. The second treatment was with a therapist who coughed constantly. My husband and I did have some lovely massages however one was with constant banging from the construction around the pool. For relaxation and a beautiful environment I would walk down the road to Karsa Spa. 5 years ago when we stayed we were in Villa number 1 and the wooden slatted blinds did not open and close. 5 years on we were given the same villa and the same blinds are still there and still not working. You can open each slat individually but since there are 13 blinds in 1 room you might be there for a while. The opening and closing of the blinds requires room service. There has been alot of money spent on Junglefish pool area at the cost of some other areas of the resort. Just fix the blinds! The roof in the lounge area leaks, we ran out of hot waterone day and had no water one day. The complimentary shuttle bus was never on time although we would ring ahead to say we would catch a particular time. I think some of the staff at Junglefish need to be moved to around the rest of the resort. Staff would always call us "villa number 1" when communicating with us either over the phone or face to face which became a joke to us in the end. If you would like beautiful genuine balinese service with a smile then stay 500 meters up the road at Puri Sebali. The views are better too. Regards "Villa Number 1"
First of all just want to state we are not picky travelers... here is a summary of the good/great and not so good. I'm writing this review while at the pool area... this is our 3rd Bali resort on our honeymoon.. The good/ great! - Views are like no where else we stayed - The staff is very nice but don't seem happy - Inexpensive massages from 9am till 6pm . 50% off so like $7.50 for an hour. -Pool lounge area - Suites are amazing...Get the suite with private pool (You'll know why in the bad part) - Jungle fish restaurant room service great. The BAD - Currently under construction. 8am banging on metal. Call ahead and check if they're done. - Breakfast is limited to 1 hot item per person. Buffet has a very small selection. Still good food but small selection. Barely anything to choose from in the buffet. - The hotel lets outside guests come to the pool area/bar. So many kids and outsiders. -NO Identity to resort...thought it was going to be a hideaway but so much commotion every where. (This is why you should get your own suite )
What a total delight. We felt like we were in paradise. The staff were wonderful, the food was delicious, the surrounds were stunning. We stayed in a studio with valley view with our two boys. We will be back!
This place certainly has the wow factor. We stayed in a one bedroom private villa. It was absolutely stunning, waking up every morning to the sound and view of the jungle. The place is very private and secluded and the furniture is very creatively pieces together. The food at jungle fish restaurant/bar and Di Abung restaurant is very contemporary and delicious. I'd come back here.
I had an excellent "deep tissue massage" for more than an hour, it was very relaxing, quite and peacefull.. The view is also amazinggggg.... love it very much.. Worth to try and highly recommended. The price is also ok.
I stayed in the 3 bedroom villa in April. The villa is beautiful but not well maintained. Paint came off from most of the bath tub. Dripping from the master bedroom bath roof. Totally ruined my trip. But I decided to give chapung a second chance since the hotel main area is beautiful. So I came again in June. Villa 1 in the hotel is better. But Chupang only provides scheduled and fixed drop-off /pick-up location shuttle service. Which is very inconvenient for a hotel with ralatively remote location.with the price. I would rather stay at other resort. Will never go again.
My partner and I (gay couple) stayed here in June. This was our second visit to Ubud. The staff were friendly, the accommodation was excellent (recommend villa 3), and the spa was of good quality. Being June, the weather wasn't as warm as our previous trip (late November), but being just out of season meant that the accommodation was significantly cheaper! There was some construction on site, and the gym area was still being built when we visited - perhaps opening in July? I would recommend this accommodation if visiting Ubud. The jungle fish bar, located at the back of the resort, is quite popular, with many people coming to visit for a few hours to rest by the pool, or to enjoy a few cocktails!
The hotel could be lovely. Unfortunately there is currently building work going on which we weren't told about when booking. We paid for a villa with private pool which was right next to the work. We did ask to be moved but the manager didn't contact us until after we had checked out.
I had the most wonderful stay at Chapung Se-Bali in april 2017. At the spa You get the Best massage ever. Very warm and friendly service. The most beutyful surroundings and food in the bar and restaurant.
