The hotel was great. Also it had an incredible pool overlooking the jungle full of lovely monkeys. Excellent staff. It had good breakfast . Our room was epic A villa inside the forest Thank you for everything
Tranquil location , heavenly hotel , food unique and the service was exceptional. Had a wonderful relaxing holiday , would highly recommend if you want a quiet and peaceful rest. There were monkeys wandering around and it was wonderful to see them in their natural surroundings. Can't compliment the hotel staff enough !
So, looks like a forgotten kingdom with amazing views and pool. Entry to pool 150k, and you have water at the place, and also surprise - afternoon tea /coffee with a cake. Lovely and highly recommended
Nine of us spent two nights in early January. From the welcome at the airport till the drop off at another Alila hotel, the team in this hotel headed by Hemal was outstanding. Service attitude of the staff was exemplary. Couple with the lovely rooms, good food and fabulous setting we spent two wonderful nights. Will come back for a longer stay soon
I spent a week at Alila Ubud in January 2018 - a period when the tourism sector was still recovering from and being affected by the effects the eruption in December of 2017 of Mount Agung had on visitors to Bali. Yes, prices were reduced when I booked and I also received an upgrade but while these factors influenced my decision of staying there I realized within a day at this property - distinguished by having one of the world's and Bali's first Infinity Pools for which it has received countless awards - that one would be hard pressed to find a luxury resort at this price point ANYWHERE in the world let alone in the Ubud area that provides a higher level of service, ambience, activities, lodging and cuisine. There are both a Ritz-Carlont and a Four Seasons property a few miles down the road by there's no way paying twice Alila Ubud's rates would deliver twice the service. The tasteful designs of the rooms celebrate modern balinese architecture and interior design. Everything from their branded toiletries to the decor are first class. The restaurant services an incredible breakfast included in most rates or at least the one I chose and also lunch and dinner. I did. not have a disappointing mouthful of food or sip of a beverage eating there more than a dozen times. And if the weather is inclement affecting being able to eat in the open spaces of the restaurant one can receive the entire gourmet meal served in one's room. Alila has a spa that offer Western and Eastern cures which I highly recommend for at least one massage and a menu of off site excursions for every kind of traveler. On site is a Balinese gourmet cooking class. Finally a word about the staff - everyone - and I mean EVERYONE whether at the front desk or housekeeping, a bellman or concierge, waitress or groundkeeper were exceptional in their dedication to making sure the guests at Alila Ubud never lack anything. I was fortunate top o be assigned a driver - Gde - who took me all over the island and was my guide every day I was in Bali whose professionalism, knowledge and personality endeared him to me and made my week extra special. I've been globetrotting for 40 years and first visited Bali in 1989 - long before the Eat Pray Love phenomenon drew the curtain back and the world discovered the Ubud area. At that time it would be several years before a hotel of the calibre of Alila would be opened in the area. Yes, I chose Alila Ubud among several luxury properties outside Ubud based on the rate I found online but one can be disappointed upon arrival and have a less than satisfactory experience. Nothing is further than the truth here - my week at this luxury hotel in the jungles north of Ubud ranks among the top-5 travel experiences in a life of international travel. I will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to fellow travelers.
My wife and I spent the first week of our honeymoon here. We arrived in the early hours of the morning after a very long flight. On arrival we were handed hand towels fresh from the freezer. Now this might not seem like much but the temperature difference from the UK to Bali were noticeable and the ice cold hand towel was truly amazing. With a complimentary drink in hand we were shown to our room. The room was one of pure perfection, a lovely private front garden, open outdoor shower and (from a coffee lovers point of view) fresh ground coffee every day. Our first night was wonderful. We woke up and headed to the restaurant for breakfast. Now breakfast was something completely out of this world. Different fruit smoothies every day, a choice of anything and everything on the menu. My wife and I have some intolerances to foods and he hotel supplied us with cards we could use anywhere in Bali to ensure we weren’t caught out. The bread was so delicious, fresh and tasty, the staff were amazing and the snake fruit jam... well let’s just say we found ourselves requesting t more than we thought. The infinity pool was our place to relax and enjoy the first days as a married couple, pool side service was astounding and the food brilliant. In the afternoon complimentary coffee and deserts are supplied to all who are staying. Now there are monkeys there, don’t be alarmed and go all health and safety at this point as the hotel is pretty much in the jungle overlooking a ravine. It’s the monkeys home and when they smell food they come and fancy a bite. Staff however is on hand to shoo them away so as to not startle the guests. The hotel offered entertainment in he evenings, spice festivals, movies by the pool, and dance classes to show the culture in all its amazing beauty. We borrowed some mountain bikes and went for a cycle, being me I was ill prepared and ended up having to contact the hotel to come and rescue us. A vehicle was dispatched, we were taken back to the hotel and on arrival supplied with coconut water to assist with the possibility of dehydration and heat exhaustion. They were very helpful and caring towards us as their guests, this we are eternally grateful for. Day trips are made possible by hotel taxis heading off and certain times into the centre of Ubud, more culture, market places and haggling to do. We managed to buy some wonderful presents for ourselves and family back home. We felt nothing but at home at Alila, we would both return in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for making our stay as magical and memorable as you did. We would highly recommend Alila Ubud. Thank you
We stayed in Alila Ubud from 23rd Feb to 25th Feb, I really have to say the service in there is really bad, ex: if we ask for something in the restaurant we always have to ask for twice even three times. On the 24th we booked a taxi for taking us out, as we had booked a really good restaurant and we don't want to be late so I precisely dressed the pick up time at 17:45 in the front lobby ( the one without reception) but on the 17:51 there was NO taxi, so I had to walk to another lobby to ask them to arrange the taxi for us, but it seemed like the staff forgot to arrange a taxi for us, great service isn't it? There is even more, the room we stay was OK size, tidiness really can't complain it BUT the showering was really bad, the water was so small we can't even be sure all bubbles have been washed away, when we checked out I talked to the reception about this problem, they answer was something like "due to the size of water tank so we have to limit the water usage", soooooo, it means they knew the problem, but did they do anything about it? NO! And do I pay less for the room? NO! Also the AC default temperature is 15 ℃, I tried to set it to high temperature but SOOOORRY the setup button didn't work, so we have to turn the AC off when the cold woke me up in the middle of the night, I just LOVE this hotel! OOOOH there is one more thing to mention, the wall of the room is really thin, so basically you can hear anything what your neighbor is doing (and they can hear what you are doing as well, I mean E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G!) and you can even smell what they are eating as well (the first day when we checked in I am pretty sure the our neighbor is eating Durian)
We paid for an upgrade to the new terrace tree villa for a three night stay and we truly enjoyed the peace and quiet in alila ubud. The new terrace villa has got a bathtub to die for! Amazing view and spacious living. The only downside is you can hear monkeys running across your rooftop early in the morning, 5am kind of early! The food was good but the menu is slightly limited so we suggest you get out to downtown ubud where they have plenty to offer. We had spa included in our package, the setting was very zen and clean, but you could only choose between Balinese and therapeutic, so it was a pretty standard massage. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The property itself is definitely older so it's good that they added new villa option with updated design and amenities.
The resort is old with few amenities. There is little space for fun. The shower room is not convenient. For example, there is no space for placing fresh clothes. The shuttle service to the downtown is limited. The food doesn’t match the price. good things: *free transfer to the next hotel (staying 2 nights policy) *friendly staff. *clean environment *tranquility suggestions: *Fix the function and the price policy of the restaurant. I believe “reasonable price” will encourage more guests to dine in the restaurant . *Beautiful rice fields around *Wild monkeys around the resort
This resort is great, the views are amazing, the feel is superb and you feel so relaxed staying here but as a big resort, they should try to have more things to do at the resort besides cycling(which isnt easy coz there are many steep slopes). That is the one negative I have. I am however nit picking here because apart from this the hotel was superb in every way, the quality of food was really really good, I cannot emphasize this enough, the food felt so natural and yummy. I had one of the best hot chocolates ive had in my life for the breakfast buffet. They even welcomed us with prosecco, brownies and a basket of fruit in our room since it was our anniversary. The room had no TV which was fine for us as we stayed for a day only but I cannot imagine someone staying for a week or more without TV. Still I say this is a positive point because you are supposed to enjoy the nature and relax. The staff was great and everything we needed was provided very quickly. All in all I would definitely stay there again in the future but there is potential to make this resort even better than it already is
