Red Lion Hotel Bakersfield

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

got in late the first night but friendly staff took good care of us. Had a dog with us. No problem enjoyed the complementary breakfast on last day there.

The check-in staff was a bit rude and our showers hot water did not work , overall stay was okay

My room was clean and comfortable. The only fault was the dark-looking carpet (to hide stains I guess). What really makes this hotel stand out is the breakfast included in the price. It is a full sit-down breakfast in the adjoining restaurant. You get six choices. I had the eggs, sausage, and hash browns, coffee. The ticket says "eat in only" but in fact, one of the choices was a take out breakfast, something like a McMuffin with egg and meat. One of the reception clerks told me that they were recently bought by Red Lion and they hope the breakfasts will continue.

Price was fair and although room had obvious water damage it did not detract from stay

Staff was nice but this place is a dump . Heater didn't work, super run down room

We checked in later in the evening, it looked gorgeous when we arrived. The room looked normal until I opened the drawers and saw a cockroach, I called the desk asked for a bug spray, thet didnt have any, they offered to change the room. I said we will if I see any more: my family was tired and luggage bags opened. I kept clothes on the floor, didnt trust the closet. After the shower found another one on the floor under the towel. I wanted to move but my family was already sleeping, so for my peace of mind I opened a different drawer at there were three cockroaches running. If it wasn't for my infant sleeping I would scream and run away from this hotel. I was so fooled by the good reviews. I didn't get any sleep, I was on guard for my baby making sure that nothing crawls on her. I turned on all lights in the room, because I think light is the only thing that keeps them away. Now i regret that we stayed there at all, I wouldn't go there anymore if it was free. And they should give me money back for a stressful ninght. And the toilet seat, please fix it! You should make sure before you check someone in.

the price I paid we could have got a nicer room just about anywhere, we had our flight delayed and asked to extend a day and we were told we had 30 min or we would be charged another day so we said on then let us just extend our stay another day the staff said we couldn't unless we could go online and do it, which the whole time we were there we couldn't connect to their WiFi, and we're treated stupid when we asked why, like basically I am not smart enough to log on, it was not like the pictures.

This fourth time to stay her on business Good for the value , nice pool . Helpful staff frère real breakfast for older hotel

It was OK. The staff was very nice. The hotel could use an update.

I enjoyed our stay very much .

Older hotel, not the Red Lion quality that I'm used to.

I wrote on Trip Advisor under the same heading. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is older, but comfortable and clean.

very nice, easy find, good breakfast. love it . will come back again!!very nice, easy find, good breakfast. love it . will come back again!!

Booked in advance. Traveled 600+ miles to see family. Disappointed with condition of hotel. We were put in room in back of property . The room had very strong odor of animal urine. We were so tired after full day of traveling. Very disappointed. Appears to have been a best western property that is now a red lion. The lobby was nice, but rest of property needs repair and remodeling. Told front desk of problem, they said we could have moved to a room that wouldn't have smelled as bad. Apparently the smell was a norm. Will not stay there again. So disappointed. We definitely paid too much . Two rooms for over $150.

The hotel was right priced. Great hot breakfast made to order. Only negative was the Wifi was down for my entire stay. Critical loss for a business traveler. Staff were kind and courteous.

I've stayed at this hotel for some years now. I always enjoy the staff and my stay.

Spent one night here on way to LA. Right next to the Buck Owen's Crystal Palace, which is a plus if you want some evening entertainment. Easy to get to from Hwy 99. A little run down, but otherwise OK.

Was a good experience. Only issue we had was they needed a credit card for any incidentals. I asked if there would be a hold amount and was told no. Another staff person in the middle of the night (we were told) put a hold on our card. Had I known I would have used a credit card instead of my debit card. The made to order breakfast was a nice surprise.

It was a pleasant stay. The room was big and clean. It had everything that we needed. The breakfast was not buffet but a certain amount of bread, sausage, bacon and eggs. But this was fine considering the price. We realized after hundreds of miles away that we accidentally left a shower bag in the room. So I called them and they said they found it and they could ship it to me. And they asked for my credit card info and my address. And a few days later I got my shower bag with all my stuff in it. Thank them so much.

There was bugs in the bed!!!Also in a bad part of town.
