Perfect location! I could wake up and see the lovely cathedral from my window and then walk the streets to eat breakfast. Avila has plenty to see and at this lovely little hotel you're right in the heart of it. Nice staff, clean and simple, updated rooms. I'd come back for sure.
We added this stop to our trip at the last minute as we thought we were driving too many hours on one day, and we were so glad we did. An old converted Palace opposite the cathedral. Hotel was perfect. Right in the centre of the old city. Staff, rooms, cleanliness all very good. Would definitely recommend it.
The hotel does have a great location and it is a former palace. That being said, one night was enough. The air conditioning was practically non existent and our group didn't sleep well at all. Open windows do not help when the daytime temps were over 100. Most of us were pretty groggy as we toured the city. Find a place with good air and you will be happier.
The hotel was beautiful lots of pictures and interesting things to look at. The lounge area was stunning. Extremely comfortable beds, we even noted the name of the mattresses they were so good! The parking was outside the city walls. A five minute walk from the hotel and 1 euro for 24 hours !!!! Restaurant was very quiet and did not have much atmosphere. Veggie options were nonexistent however the chef made me some pasta ! The breakfast for a four star hotel was disappointing , the scrambled eggs were really horrid, but the second morning we asked for fresh fried eggs and they were lovely so ask for what you want and you will probably get it.
Our pilgrimage group enjoyed our one night stay here within the walls of Avila. Although our bus was too large to enter walls, the hotel staff was quite efficient in meeting us and transferring luggage by van to the hotel. Not sure if there was AC in the hotel, but we just opened the windows to cool down our warm room. Nicely located for a night tour of old town. The dining rooms had nice booth/tables for a quiet, enjoyable, sit-down dinner.
As stated in the title, in the very city center, next to the cathedral. We had a nice room with a small terrace for a very good price. We did not have any meal there. The reception staff was helpful and friendly, the room was clean and not too small.
This is a great hotel in Avila! It is located literally within spitting distance of the cathedral. Our room was great with a nice balcony overlooking a busy street that caught the sun in the afternoon/evening where we sat and sipped drinks and watched the world happen. We had the local veal special for two in the restaurant for dinner and it was fantastic as well. I highly recommend this hotel!
This hotel is located in the center of old town...within the walls of the city. The check-in process was quick for our two rooms. We were given directions to their parking area which was a locked area right down the alley (street) from the entrance. Both rooms were well appointed, clean, and comfortable. We had a direct view of the Avila Cathedral from our window. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant the next morning. The food was good, fresh, and wide selection. There service was excellent. We walked to the cathedral after breakfast and after paying a small fee visited for several hours seeing some of the best artifacts we had seen in Italy or Spain. Highly recommended. We would stay at this hotel again as there are two gates close to the hotel providing easy access to shops just outside the walls.
The hotel was a bit bland in it's decoration and fixtures, however the location and setting is magnificent. The car parking facilities were either on the street or in a secure private/municipal car park. The service in the restaurants was poor and the breakfast was very disappointing. The room was large enough but the lighting was virtually non existent. The room was very warm and it was not possible to activate the air conditioning.
I was here for several days and found the room to be good, but hot. When I enquired about the AC I was told it had been turned off for the season. Opening the window did not give me much air movement because it opened onto a roof. However, after the 2nd night (I am assuming after other requests) the AC was turned back on and my sleep became more restful. The hotel had a good breakfast associated with it, but I never took any other meals there besides breakfast. I found this area of Spain to be lacking in many English speaking residents (including the hotel). Overall, it is a good spot from which to walk and explore Avila.
