I shared a room with 3 other women attending a conference I was at. The room was enormous. Bigger than my NYC apartment. The breakfast however really sucked. The lobby was a bit strange because of the ancient Roman nude statue on the left, and a Marylin Monroe statue on the right, and I think an insurance company office in the lobby which was really weird. Oh, and a very Republican Trump supporter hotel manager or employee discussing his political views. However, the room was quite a good value so I would probably consider it again.
This hotel is trying. I appreciate that. If you’re looking for perfection- this is not your hotel. If you’re looking for helpful staff (that actually seem to care you’re a human being with a soul and not just a bank account) then this may be your next hotel. The lobby is adorable. The room could use some TLC. There are cracks in the wall and on the ceiling. I was in town for work, so wasn’t there much. But I did practice my pitch at 1:30AM to Steve at the front desk. He listened over and over again and gave helpful feedback. Whenever I needed something, they were quick to get it to me. I couldn’t hear the highway, or the elevator (which I was right next to) so that was nice. The bed was comfortable. If you go in knowing they’re trying, I think you’ll be fine. They obviously don’t have corporate money. Which means they’re also not corporate robots:) I know this may sound like I have a huge chip on my shoulder - I don’t. Chip free, I promise:) I was just surprised by how human they seemed. I’ve never stayed at a hotel where I thought the front desk staff would remember me - until the Peers. I wouldn’t even have guessed I cared, but clearly it left an impression. So, if you’re looking for a cheap place with a grand attitude, stay here.
The best thing about this hotel is the price. The hotel is kind of "odd" as it shares space with an insurance company (I think) and is kind of old and in need of some renovation. The room was fairly large and clean (the bathroom (commode/shower) area looked fairly recently renovated); but had to ask for a lot of things that should have already been in the room (extra towels, washcloth, hair dryer, extra pillow). The breakfast was very disappointing, they do have a waffle station and some pastries, but that's basically it. I couldn't even find napkins the day we tried it, the second day, we didn't bother. If you're just looking for a place to sleep, it's fine; but if you're looking for more than that, I'd look around some more.
Clean, roomy, comfy beds. It’s in the middle of a construction zone right now (may 2018) but still easy to get in to. Very close to South Congress. staff is super friendly. Kinda funky and local at a good deal.
Stayed here in April for the Moto GP. Reception area is very dated. The smell of cleaning fluid/air freshener was extremely overpowering. Very old carpet throughout hotel. Rooms are large, but bathroom was tiny. I towel per person and you have to share a washcloth apparently. Other reviews had mentioned this, and the owner had said they would rectify it - FAIL! Despite being out of our room from 9.30 am - 5pm, our room was not serviced (turned out to be a good thing, as the smell had dissipated). We did not even attempt the breakfast. To crown it all, not only were we charged for our own room, but we had 2 extra rooms added to our bill!
We checked in late afternoon. The highway was under construction, so the entrance was a big tricky. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. he came quickly when we called with TV problems. He pressed a button in the back and got it to play and recommended that we leave it on until bedtime. When we returned a while later, the next clerk was also prompt and banged on it to get it to come on. They obviously knew it was not working properly. The room was clean and comfortable but here was a cleaning smell in the room. I assumed it would just fade as most smells do, but I must have been allergic, and the smell just intensified-maybe it was something like the powder 'love my carpet' . The breakfast was only okay, there was skim milk, no cream, jelly, no butter for the toast. We had only one bath towel and one hand towel when we checked in with 2 people. No bathmat or washcloths.
Came to check out the prices and ended up getting a great deal along with great service, as soon I walked in they greeted me and made me feel at home, stayed for the weekend and the best part of if is that its not far from Downtown!, rooms are cleaner and have more space than I thought. thank you for a great experience! will continue to come when I return to Austin
Was impressed with the service from Bob and the night desk girl (i cant remeber her name )were attentive and took excellent care of me while i was there. I was also impressed with the housekeeping service , Cleanliness is a priority and it shows. Was given a way bigger room compared to what the average hotel considers to be big. The staff was very helpful addressing any issues or needs i might have had. All in all great stay
Great location near downtown. Don't let the road construction steer you away. Minute I checked in to attend a conference downtown, I received a very nice welcome. 2nd night received a suite upgrade but both rooms match the image with very spacious clean rooms with big windows! Comfy beds. Ask for Bob! Highly recommend & best price!
Nice smaller hotel just off the interstate. Very friendly staff who recommended excellent restaurants nearby. Spent one quiet night on our way home via the train from San Antonio. Nice continental breakfast.
