While the hotel is older and could use an updating; it was clean and comfortable. If you are in the area with a focus on convenience, location, and cost; stay here. If your focus is on the new and updated, choose another place. The staff was extremely helpful and suggested nearby restaurants!

For a quick cheap trip, one night or so it was good. It served its purposes and staff was nice!!

Stayed at this hotel for one night. Upon check in I was given a room that had not been clean yet.The staff gave me another room and that one was OK. The room was really small it had a mildew smell. Like the title says.

This joint charges rates that are commensurate with much nicer places. The only reason to stay here is its close proximity to the University of Texas. Other than that, expect to be staying in a poorly kept motel. Cigarette burns on the shower/tub enclosure, dirty walls, peeling paint, ill fitting doors with gaps that let bugs in, etc. Your typical dirty motel. I would expect to pay half of what I paid for this type of accommodation. Good for a partying college kid.

I wish that they would give you normal size pillows. Also the breakfast was really only fruit or cereal.

Great Service and Clean Rooms

Very convenient, close enough to downtown, good pricing.

Great room for a business trip. We would definitely stay here again.

The location was good. The parking lot wasn't ideal. The room was not cleaned well. The tub was dirty and the sheets had some stains. After the first night we had to go to the lobby to reactivate our room cards because we were locked out for no apparent reason. It's what we paid for I guess.

I had booked my reservation for a 1 night stay in a nonsmoking King. I called in advance asking to make sure I get a nonsmoking king. The day I arrive, I am checking in promptly at 3pm. When my husband and dog got to our room, we immediately realized had been given a king smoking room. I went back to lobby and said the room was not what I had booked for. I was told that the guests were staying over from the night before and therefore they didn't have nonsmoking kings available. No refunds will be given because I booked through a third party. They had a nonsmoking double queen available so we stayed in that. The water was hot, the sheets were clean and the room was cool so no complaints in that. The next morning I woke up and I could smell slightly some smoke whether my neighbor rooms had been smoking or the smell was part of the room I am not sure. The breakfast was pretty good but the sitting area was very small. Had I received the correct room, my review would have been better.

Nice hotel. Great experience. Very convenient to UT Austin.

Very convenient location, great value for the price. Enjoyed the stay.

My friend and I were coming in from out of town to attend and event at the Hilton by the Austin Convention Center. We didn't want to spend exorbitant amounts of money on the hotel, so we sought out a hotel near downtown..that wasn't sketchy and unclean. The location of this hotel is fairly convenient. There is a shopping center (with Target, Walgreens, Ross, and other stores) on the other side of I-35, and the hotel was 10 minutes from where I needed to be. The beds were nothing special, but the room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast was from 7-10am, and it was a fairly standard hotel breakfast-featuring yogurt, bagels, oatmeal, fruit, etc. The staff was very friendly, and made an effort to make a bit of small talk, even when we were wearing strange wigs. It was certainly not the best hotel I've ever stayed in, but it was far from the worst. THINGS TO NOTE: Our room did not have a refrigerator, so leftovers couldn't be stored, which was a little sad. The rooms face outside, so if you are the kind of person who doesn't like a slight bit of noise when you sleep, you may want to ask for a room that doesn't face the freeway if they have it. Also, the parking lot is dim towards the back part of the complex. Not necessarily sketchy, but there's just not a whole lot of light.

The hotel is very well situated by the interstate with good access to the University. The amenities and bath room fixtures need to be rehabbed. I was there for a day and extended the stay by another day, but got charged a different but higher amount. I think the business practices of the hotel and industry need to be upgraded. Could become a very nice motel with proper management and better attention to travellers.

My husband, I and our 2 dogs needed an inexpensive place to stay while our new apartment was turned over. This place was sufficient. It was inexpensive, the room was clean, and the staff helpful. The outside is pretty beat up and there is only one overpriced restaurant within walking distance. However, it is a quick drive to food, campus, and downtown. I recommend this place as a good economy stay, but not for vacation.

It was perfect location for my family and enough room to move around for my little guys.

I was so pleased to have such knowledgeable and helpful staff after arriving tired from a long drive. They couldn't do enough to help me get situated and were so pleasant and cheerful.

Great location. Room is clean and great value. The parking area could be improved. Simple breakfast and yet good enough.

We got this hotel for a great price. La Quintas are pet-friendly, which is why we chose it. It's not a very nice area of town, but we didn't feel unsafe. Room was minimally clean -- sheets and towels were good, but try not to look at the floors or behind anything.

Austin was packed. There was a Marathon in town, a major tournament at UT, and it was the perfect weekend to get away from Houston. My original plans for lodging had fallen through at the last minute and I was scrambling for options. Thankfully, They still had a room at the La Quinta at Highland Mall. I was slightly disappointed in the overall quality as there were stains on the floor and the comforter in the room when I arrived. The comforters were changed by night 2, but stains on the carpet are hard to fix in 1 day. The staff was excellent though. Its a 10 minute drive or taxi ride to 6th street, so the location was acceptable also. Overall, for a last minute find, it was great! The hotel needs some maintenance upkeep work done though. A little fresh paint and ensuring that the baseboards are all painted and in place would go a long way towards making this a better value hotel.
