La Quinta Inn Austin Capitol / Downtown

2.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Convenient location to Capitol and UT campus. Great staff, very helpful, especially Renee. Hotel is old, with minimal updates.

Nice room with lots of room, good desk for working, nice bed, spotlessly clean, a/c works well, no complaints Breakfast - could be much better - bread often stale, fruit often well past best before date, but yogurt, cereal and grapefruit/orange slices great. Location - 15 minute walk to convention centre - but - no decent eating places within easy walking distance. Overall excellent value for money.

Its indeed a motel with a very basic and poor facility, which is ok if the price is not that high - way too high for its condition.

The hotel was not clean and inviting. The room, itself, was acceptably clean and the cleaning staff did a good ob inside the room. I had to review the elevator inspection. The buttons did not light until after repeatedly pushing the desired floor number. The call button was equally defective. The biggest disappointment was the $25.00/night Valet Parking fee. The Valet ONLY parking was not described in the Orbitz information.

We were walking distance to the capital and to all the action of 6th St. The area was safe. The room was very comfortable and the beds were perfect. You can't beat the price! We traveled to San Antonio and are stayed at La Quinta there too.

This La Quinta is super convenient if you need to be downtown. It's easy in and easy out. My room was spotless and the staff was very nice. Overall it served my needs. My only gripe is that the hotel requires you to use their valet. There is no self park option. The valet is $25 a day for guests. Seriously! $25 a day! The hotel should post this on their website and their 3rd party websites so customers can include this information when choosing a hotel. I will stay elsewhere the next time I am back in Austin.

It was a pleasant stay. The facility is more a motel than hotel. Actually was given the incorrect room card key, and walked into a room where a young lady was dressing. I don't know who was more shocked. The room was clean.

Fine hotel.

Took my mother to the TX Book festival so hotel was a great location for walking. That is the only thing positive I can say... Old, smelly hotel that the owners are milking dry. Found out upon arrival had to pay almost 30 a night just to park. Meantime they offered 11 a day parking to the public??? Extremely narrow halls and low ceilings, could hear doors slam all day n night. I would have never expected this from a la quinta, will never go back.

This is not only in a great location & inexpensive, but it's clean & the staff was nice!

business trip to visit a client ----------------------------

If you want to stay close to capital and not pay too expensive this is the hotel to stay.

we were on vacation in downtown Austin and the La Quinta was a great location, excellent for the price, to all the attractions Austin's downtown holds.

Clean up the bathrooms...mildew...ew! Nice staff...breakfast could be nicer for the room cost and lack of cleanliness.

The location is great but the hotel is very run down and is certainly not value for money.

The hotel is right by the Capitol and about 0.6 miles away from 6th street and 1 mile away from the river. The location is perfect and so was the room. A little expensive but maybe it's everywhere in Austin!

Great location if you want to walk to downtown night life and easy access to freeway!!

Staff was nice. Our room wasn't ready but they acted quick to get us into another room. The room was ground floor. Loud group outside of the room during the night having out. Room was dated but clean. They charge for parking with valet only. Breakfast was okay. Easy walk to the downtown 6th street area and the capital.

Hotel doesn't have tons of frills but is reasonably close (< 15min walk) to conference center. Breakfast was nice (continental).

Hello Apple-Jax, Thank you for staying with us and letting us know how your experience was. I do want to first apologize for the inconveniences you encountered with the hotel not being clean. I would like to request if you can contact me at your earliest convenience so I may inquire about what was not clean outside of the hotel room. For the parking we are the most priced sensitive hotel in the downtown market while our neighbor hotels charge excessively more in the $30s, $40s, and $50s per night. I will also share this with our Orbitz team to ensure this is communicated. I don't want to lose your business and we wish to invite you back knowing that our hotel is clean and the value for the parking is the best in town. I look forward to speaking to you soon and thank you again for the review as an opportunity to improve our hotel. Jason H. General Manager

Hello James, Thank you for the review and letting us know about your stay. I do want to apologize for the miscommunication on the parking and I assure you that it is posted on our website and our 3rd party websites. I will review this with our corporate office and 3rd party vendors to see if we can get them to advertise it better, however, we are the most priced sensitive hotel in the downtown market as every hotel around us charges more. I don't want to lose your business over this and wish to invite you back knowing that the hotel room is clean, service is friendly, and that the parking is going to be cheaper than any other hotel downtown. We look forward to seeing you next time. Thank you. Jason H. General Manager

Hello Sam, Thank you for staying with us and letting us know about your experience. It looks like we dropped the ball and this was the complete opposite of enjoyable. I do want to apologize for the unpleasant experience you had with the age and smell of the hotel and I will address these concerns with my team. Although the we do charge for valet parking at $25 a night and $11 for day time parking, we are the most priced sensitive hotel in the downtown market in comparison to our neighbors who charge way more. I don't want to lose your business over this and wish to invite you back knowing that we have addressed these concerns and exceed your expectations next time with us. Thank you. Jason H.
