Waldorf St Martins Apartments Hotel

4.5 out of 5.0

Waldorf with its multiple apartments offer great stays in auckland. This one is very well located with just walking distance from the main street. The rooms are good and clean and offer good city view. We stayed just of a night though but everything seemed well organised to us.

Nice place but for a concert weekend they were pretty ill-equipped to handle such an influx of visitors. It took over an hour in line to check-in and there was no real acknowledgement of the wait. It would've been nice for them to just say "sorry folks, we're experiencing... and there's a slight delay with checking in". I don't mind waiting when I'm receiving communication. Otherwise clean tidy room, good prices etc. The hallways though clearly don't have any air circulation so it's quite stifling.

The rooms are ok, even if you're looking on a cemetery, which is beside the Hotel. What makes the stay in the hotel so awful is the unbelievable bad service of the staff. And believe me, the service is so bad that you just want to leave Auckland. Probably backpackers without any knowledge of in-house booking systems and normal business procedure within a Hotel. We asked for late check out, which we wanted to pay for (150 NZD), but three people at the desk couldn't manage it with the system until suddenly it was not possible anymore. An employee called Yuli was even so rude to us, that she said she won't call us a taxi because some people didn't show she compared us with others and assume we will do the same...really tremendous...and we were travelling with a 2 yrs old child.

Waz told these are owned by owners who rent each room out On the main bus route from airport so that was good, Roughly on floor 12/13 so good view over motorway, could hear traffic at night,we had a double room but slept well,8-10 minute walk to main area but a safe place. Quick check inn, Only a 3 night stay as we flew in from uk and did not fancy driving around for a few days Would stay again if needs be! The carpet floor could do with a good hoover in our room as when we spilt a drink(oops) we got a cloth and it was relly dirty

Not somewhere, where I would stay again nor recommended. Fist thing you see on arrival to the left, was racks of towels in the foyer. 2: they have in a note on the lift that the apartments have had leaking recently. Both were not good start. 3:the rug in front of the TV was filthy and that is an understatement. 4: you had to take your own rubbish down to the basement., There is no service to the apartments 5: the most disturbing, the toilet in the bathroom was not fixed to the floor - it moved every time you used it. 6: the lounge that they show in the pictures, is very old and uncomfortable and could not sit on 7: the rooms need to be painted, there were scratches and chip paint on walls and corners. 8: we were told this was in the central city. It's not, it is close to the business district (Grafton) and it took 1/2 hour to walk to the wharf or take a bus. This is not central to the city For the price we paid for the 4 nights, you would expect a better looking property and the staff to be more professional.

The Room we stayed in was quiet small. The appartments were relatively clean, but does not leave a good impression that the roof in the foyer was missing! Not in centre on city. The carpark spaces were extremely tight.

We stayed here for the Ed Sheeran concert. The hotel was fully booked, and it appears they didn't prepare for how busy they'd be. We waited for an hour to check-in because the line was so long. We were there after check-in (3.30pm), but our room wasn't ready. We were told to wait about 20 minutes for it to be cleaned. We waited. We then go up, and the room isn't clean. We asked for a clean room, but they said they didn't have one available. We were so pressed for time, we had to get ready in the dirty room. Gross. Staff eventually found us a clean room - and when we checked it out after the concert, the kitchen had ants. The hotel offered us a $50 refund for the inconvenience, but never apologised. Stay away from this place.

Took us OVER AN HOUR to check in and many rooms were not ready at 4pm, the service at the front desk was stretched and no forward planning of what was clearly going to be a busy weekend (Ed Sheeran weekend) The Management no where to be seen! The hotel reception was unable to cope with the number and turnover of guests, people and cars everywhere, and cleaners trying to finish up the rooms at 4pm... so poorly managed. Not a great experience and a very hands off approach, no apology nor compensation being offered.

Room not ready at 3.30pm, told to come back later, came back to long queue-after 24 hour journey from London not a good start to my first visit to NZ. After waiting for the room its cleanliness was very poor. Booked via Expedia website which showed free wifi but hotel only gave 500mb (allegedly)per day which turned out to give less usage than the 30mb free in flight wifi given by Singapore Airlines. Front desk totally uninterested in complain about wifi and said no manager available until next day. A poorly managed budget property at full price with a laissez-fare attitude to customers.

Room and amenities were great. We had everything we needed. We arrived to wait 40+ minutes in a queue to be checked in. Very hard to get parking while you are waiting as you do not have access to their parking facilities while you check in and out. Many customers were unable to access their rooms as not yet cleaned. We were told our room was and found it hadn't been. This was sorted and when cleaned was absolutely lovely. WONDERFUL CLEANERS. The front of desk staff were doing their best but didn't appear to be able to cope with the demand and had too much going on at once, I guess its hard to put a smile on your face in those circumstances, but it probably would have helped the overall mood. Parking is very tight, so you need to be happy driving in tight and steep spaces. You need to make sure they don't take your card away when you check out as you need it to get out of the carpark. Easy enough to access from the motorway, so great for out of towners who aren't keen on Auckland. Really poor management as most of the customers were trying to get to a concert and had been booked since mid last year, so should have expected a large influx and made the necessary adjustments.
