We had a great stay at this hotel - good value, nicely renovated, but the location was a little too far to allow us to come and go during the day. It is in the University area, uphill from everything you want to visit in the CBD (Central Business District). It was OK clean, not high standards.

First the positives - The apartments have great views, are spacious, in the city centre, with lots of supermarkets and restaurants around. Loved the place and the rooms. Negatives (more a feedback) - 1) The parking is on a steep slope. Getting in and out of parking is challenging especially for large vehicles. 2) They allow only 500 MB of free wifi per day. In today’s world, this seems too paltry. 3) The staff is helpful but not too knowledgeable when it comes to suggesting good places to visit. When I asked a staff they gave me a map and told me to visit a information centre. Mount Eden is 3 km from the property and that’s the first place they should suggest any guest. Not the staff’s fault. They should be trained.

Recently stayed two nights with family, staff were friendly and helpful however the room needed a little attention. We were on top floor and windows would not close properly hence noisy with wind. Could have been cleaner, fridge had not been wiped and was dirty. PowerPoint didn’t work in kitchen. A 5 minute walk to central Auckland.

The parking entrance is 90 degree and downslope. I spent almost 10 min to get out the door. My space was at B3, I need to drive through the narrow tunnel to get down, hence I don’t really want to get out after checkin, to avoid such driving challenge. The room function is basic, no surprise and nothing special, but nearby it got a supermarket and lots of restaurants. Overall, we are happy with the location.

For near $100 per night, I was hugely impressed with the size of the apartment - massive bed (you cannot tell it’s two single beds pushed together), big lounge with two couches, table, kitchen. Well equipped, down to the hairdryer and iron under the bathroom sink. Also a very good location, close to restaurants. Only downside to note is the lift situation - for a massive, 18 storey(?) building, the lifts are just not adequate. The staircase cannot be used unless for emergencies so you are reliant on the lifts to get in and out. You can end up waiting like 10 minutes to squeeze into a crowded lift.

The Apartments are on the small side but functionally equipped for self catering. My bed was comfortable and the bedroom had good light and temperature control. Some of the decor is a little dated. The breakfast selection was a little on the sparse side with just the basic toast, fruit and cereal. The breakfast room however has a lovely morning aspect. One thing to keep in mind with the property is that it's on quite a steep downhill slope with limited parking and step access or a steep walk to the entry if you have a lot of luggage/ children or people with mobility issues.

The best thing about this property is the location. The apartment is right downtown easily within walking distance from many attractions. The cost isn’t bad for what you get. If you have 4 people the double rooms is good. The room itself is nothing to really rave about. There is no central air or fan and therefore besides opening the window there is no real movement of air. This makes the room and the hallway to have a mouldy smell to it. In the summer it is hard to sleep without the windows open. The highway is located right outside our windows and you can hear cars on there all day. It is quite loud. There is construction very close and you can hear a jackhammer in the morning. If you have trouble sleeping with noise then I wouldn’t recommend this spot. We were in 7J and if you were on the opposite side of the building it maybe a lot quieter. The elevator is annoying in the morning as there are tons of people leaving, it could take you 10 minutes to get up or down. It is relatively clean with a decent shower. It has a kitchen but you wouldn’t be able to prepare a full meal in here. If you ordered in or warmed up food then it is very adequate. The bed is comfortable. It has almost everything you really need. We didn’t see the pool, gym or ate the breakfast. Base on the room alone I would say 3.5 stars at most. You only get 500MB of WiFi per day. That doesn’t last too long with a family of 4 on at the same time. For a 2 room apartment in this location it is a decent deal.

Stayed here twice on arrival, (room 5G)and 7 days later when returning to Melbourne the next day (room 15F)where the views of the Tower and Setting Sun was good to see. The apartments were spacious and clean, Room 15F even had washer and Dryer in the large bathroom. Both apartments have kitchens and very comfortable 2 king/Queen bedrooms. Air conditioning was in the living area only and not in the bedrooms, Ok you can open the windows but the traffic noise is quite loud at night. We booked a carpark for our hire car,$25 There is a good continental breakfast for $12.50 Pool is very small. It is about a 1.8km walk to the Sky Tower and is down hill and could be to far for some on return. Karangahape Rd just around the corner and has many different types of restaurants and night club which was perfect, The buildings along the road here are circa 1923 very nice streetscape. The apartments suited me perfectly for my plans and would stay here again for sure.

The street is very narrow & I had to park partly on the road to find out what to do with the car. An additional $30 got me a secure car park underground - a bit spooky to drive down 3 levels & if it wasn’t for others in the lift with me I wouldn’t have known to scan my room card before pushing the button for my floor. No signs to indicate where the lift was either - was relieved that there were others to follow. My 13th floor apartment was oppressively hot but the windows had all been left open so by the evening it was pleasant enough. It would have been impossible to sleep with the windows closed as there was no aircon & the fan was broken. I couldn’t make any sense of the TV channels so turned the TV off altogether & listened to the buzz of the busy city below. Everything was pretty clean albeit worn. One awesome thing - I was actually able to take the clothes hangers off the rails so I could use them to dry a couple of dresses in the sun 😄 With a coat of paint, aircon, a few repairs & a bit more information (no info folder in the room & was a bit nervous to go searching for the exercise room) this would be a pretty cool place. As it was, I had a good night’s sleep & it was fine.

We booked the hotel months in advance and on reading the reviews we nearly changed our minds. Glad we didn't as, on balance, stay was great. Positives Price - <$150 per night for city cenyre Size - Large and spacious 1 bed apartment Room - Clean and well appointed. Kitchen well equiped and as described. Aircon and fan great Staff - very pleasant and helpful Negative Gym was used as a storage room for bags all my stay. I do specifically book hotels with a gym. Feedback to hotel if its needed as storage dont advertise a gym Wifi drops off regularly and wont accept code. However reception were happy to reset and reissue when asked Things to note Hotel is down a lane up a steep walk from city. Infirm or young children need a bus. This is self catering and is stated in the decription so make own bed and take bins out. This helps keep price at great affordability
