Hotel Grand Windsor

The hotel is being renovated and the new rooms are comfortable with modern touches like a Nespresso machine, a well located and large TV with ALL the SKY channels and a good bathroom and rain shower. There is a comfortable sitting area and bed. Great for a quick weekend break in the City as the location is handy to trendy eating areas, the harbour, and right on Queen Street for shopping.

Hi, Me and my husband stayed in this hotel for 3 hights. I read some horrible reviews about it prior our check in so I was very scared. But actually the hotel is under renovation so almost all the rooms are newly renovated. What can I say about this hotel? It's my first time being unsure is it good or not. I mean , you can see that it's been renovated couple of days ago ( and the reception was still under renovation) but at the same time you can see how fast and cheaply was it done. The room was very modern and clean but very small. Queen size bed with small tables on side is all you have in the room. Plus there was no space to put bed probably different so head of the bed is on the side of window. Good thing was that you have big size TV and Nespresso coffee and machine. The wordrobe is tiny. And the bathroom is ver strange. Sliding door opens and right next to it you have shower glass box. It wasvery very slippery in bathroom. Even if one drop of water is on floor it becomes like ice rank so please be careful! There are no accessories in shower so you cannot even put your soup or shaver anywhere but floor. That's really bad!!! Overall I really don't know if I would recommend it. Me personally I would add ligtle bit and take other hotel. P.S Check in process was so slow! It took almost 20 minutes.

The Grand Windsor is well located in Lower Queen Street, with easy walking distance to shops and most restaurants and the viaduct precinct on the waterfront. It is undergoing refurbishment at present. Our room was on the seventh floor and has been furnished beautifully to a high standard . I loved the T2 cups and teapot and different herbal teas provided. Although I felt there should have been normal tea bags and more milk provided. The bed was very comfortable, however we stayed on a Saturday night and were kept awake in the early hours by the noise from a nearby night club. I understand the council are trying to get the noise level lowered so hopefully this will happen. The staff were very professional and helpful.

Location is great, easy to walk to everything. Hotel is still undergoing renovations which we were not advised of. Parking situation is also out of the way, you need to walk a good 5-7mins to get to it and cannot go in and out as you please as there are additional charges. The rooms are okay but I didn't think they were 5 star rooms. The shower temperature would change all the time either being really hot or cold. Before booking I would try to get a room with a proper window as the room we had the window was basically on the ceiling and let hardly any light in. The restaurant still isn't complete so I would again confirm 100% if the renovations are complete before booking as there was no room service provided and had to walk to another restaurant to put on your room. I probably wouldn't stay here again but the location was good and the bed was comfy.

The Grand Windsor has undergone a full refurbishment which is nearing completion. My room was lovely; very tastefully decorated with a superb finish. All aspects of the room were certainly of a higher standard than many of the regular chains. The bed was superbly comfortable and the Samsung TV and Bose TV Sound Bar provided a welcome amount of entertainment. The hotel claims that it is heading to 5 stars and once the restaurant is complete I'm sure it will be. Highly recommend, in conjunction with its location, it's a perfect place to stay.

The hotel is prime location, close to transportation, shops, restaurants, and the harbour. The premise is still under renovations but my room is exquisitely decorated, I can't say enough about the bed, it's like sleeping on clouds. What I thought was really practical are the number of USB and international sockets in the room, quite handy for non-NZ and Aussies. There aren't any restaurant on the premise, however an affiliate restaurant close-by allows charge back to the hotel. The staff were friendly as well. Highly recommend this hotel for any occasion in Auckland.

This boutique hotel is neering the end of there renovation process. And I would love to come back and experience the full package. Even with some work still continuing in the hotel lobby, the Junior Suite was magnificent. Stylish, plush furnishings an amazing bed that was like sleeping on a cloud to the gorgeous bathroom that oozed opulence. The location is very good, with a short walking distance to the transport hub for trains and buses. The hotel currently does not have it's own restaurant or bar, but an adjacent modern establishment allows for charge back to your room. This will change once renovations are completed. The staff were very approuchable and helpfull with great service skills and 24hr reception. I would definitely stay there again.

Booked two bedroom suite and got a beautiful spacious suite on the 8th floor - the top floor with little balcony that looked over Queen St. Still in refurbishment mode, they are doing a wonderful job. Loved the fabulous huge bed, new bathroom and decor. Still some updates to be made, particularly the lift and larger fluffy towels. Great to stay there, price was excellent though no doubt it will increase once they get to five star.

Stayed in the Grand Windsor Hotel for 6 nights during my recent visit to Auckland in July 2017 for the 3rd Lions Test v All Blacks. The hotel is centrally located and within easy reach of the harbour and all shops, restaurants and other amenities. Despite the hotel currently being refurbished, the room was very comfortable and well equipped. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. I would certainly recommend this for anyone visiting Auckland and will definitely stay here again.

I spent 3 nights here while the rugby tests and the Americas Cup parade were happening, so there was a great vibe in the city. The hotel's location was perfect, just two blocks from the waterfront. The hotel is being renovated, but my room was on the 6th floor - freshly done and very comfortable. The bathroom was stunning! Because of the renovations there was no restaurant on site but I was given a voucher for a free drink at "Everybodys" a few doors down Queen Street, where I had a very good meal. I also found Delissimo, a very nice deli/café in the Queens Arcade down the road which provided perfect breakfasts. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and I'd be happy to return - although I expect the prices will rise once the renovations are finished.
