This boutique hotel is neering the end of there renovation process. And I would love to come back and experience the full package. Even with some work still continuing in the hotel lobby, the Junior Suite was magnificent. Stylish, plush furnishings an amazing bed that was like sleeping on a cloud to the gorgeous bathroom that oozed opulence. The location is very good, with a short walking distance to the transport hub for trains and buses. The hotel currently does not have it's own restaurant or bar, but an adjacent modern establishment allows for charge back to your room. This will change once renovations are completed. The staff were very approuchable and helpfull with great service skills and 24hr reception. I would definitely stay there again.
Booked two bedroom suite and got a beautiful spacious suite on the 8th floor - the top floor with little balcony that looked over Queen St. Still in refurbishment mode, they are doing a wonderful job. Loved the fabulous huge bed, new bathroom and decor. Still some updates to be made, particularly the lift and larger fluffy towels. Great to stay there, price was excellent though no doubt it will increase once they get to five star.
Stayed in the Grand Windsor Hotel for 6 nights during my recent visit to Auckland in July 2017 for the 3rd Lions Test v All Blacks. The hotel is centrally located and within easy reach of the harbour and all shops, restaurants and other amenities. Despite the hotel currently being refurbished, the room was very comfortable and well equipped. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. I would certainly recommend this for anyone visiting Auckland and will definitely stay here again.
I spent 3 nights here while the rugby tests and the Americas Cup parade were happening, so there was a great vibe in the city. The hotel's location was perfect, just two blocks from the waterfront. The hotel is being renovated, but my room was on the 6th floor - freshly done and very comfortable. The bathroom was stunning! Because of the renovations there was no restaurant on site but I was given a voucher for a free drink at "Everybodys" a few doors down Queen Street, where I had a very good meal. I also found Delissimo, a very nice deli/café in the Queens Arcade down the road which provided perfect breakfasts. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and I'd be happy to return - although I expect the prices will rise once the renovations are finished.
Stayed for two nights. The hotel is currently being refurbishing. The room was tastefully decorated and was very clean. High ceiling with plenty of sunlight. Bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice with the stone bench top and the 'satin jet' shower head was surprisingly nice. Location was very convenient being right on Queen st and I did not have any noise issues. Would definitely stay here again in the future~
Accommodation booked to attend the first British Lions v All Blacks Test in Auckland and we were not disappointed. Whilst the hotel was undergoing a refurbishment, the rooms we had were finished to a high standard and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and any requests for assistance or advice were met with enthusiasm and delivered in a timely manner. This hotel is recommended without doubt
First of all I would like to commend the staff member who was there when we arrived at check in. She noticed the man out on the pavement having a seizure and immediately excused herself to assist and call emergency services. As for the rest of the stay and our room it was perfect and amazing. Extremely handy to everything especially the public transport. I can only imagine once they have finished their renovations how beautiful it will be.
Located on Queen Street so its very central. Still being renovated so some facilities not available. The room is large and services are new and great. Cloisonne pot and cups! Complementary coffee capsules and machine But no tray for the soap! The staff are friendly and the doorman is great and supportive and doesn't take tips!
I stayed here on the recommendation of a very discerning colleague - I was a bit surprised when I entered a lobby and lift area clearly still undergoing major renovations. My surprise turned to delight when I entered my fully renovated room. The renovated rooms are a feast of art deco luxury and delight. The rooms are spacious, the bed luxuriously comfortable and the fitout considered. The location of the Grand Windsor is fantastic - on the harbour end of Queen Street it is a 5 - 10 minute walk to the viaduct and wharf restaurants and 5 - 10 minute walk to most corporate offices and 10 minutes walk to the top of Queen street for the shops and cinema. The staff are very friendly and helpful. At the moment the only 'down-side' to this property is that there are no dining facilities onsite - so no room service for those late nights working in your room on a business trip. There are though cafes and restaurants within 2 -3 minutes walk from the front door. You don't get harbour views or a lot of natural light in the rooms but they are otherwise incredibly warm and cosy. Could become my Auckland favourite - watching with interest for the renovation completion.
We had tickets to a concert at Aotea Centre and at late notice got a newly renovated suite for a night. Have stayed previously at Windsor and enjoyed the location as an easy walk to "everywhere" in the CBD - theatres, viaduct, ferries, Britomart, great cafes & restaurants. Just make sure your windows are closed properly and street noise is completely eliminated! The renovations were still going on in the foyer but the staff were so kind and helpful that it wasn't an issue - the only negative is they didn't have valet parking and their car park was a 10 minute walk from the hotel but at $26 for 24hrs was pretty good for Ak CBD. Will definitely continue to stay here when we have an event in Auckland.
