Grand Windsor Hotel

3.5 out of 5.0

The room overall is very comfortable. The bathroom is clean and has the basic amenities but can use more shelves to put stuff on. The wi-fi is very strong which is a huge plus for us. The only cons we encountered was during the check-out process. The staff did not recognize my stay was already pre-paid and when I mentioned that I already paid the day before, the staff insisted on the charge being only pending so it required my credit card again. We eventually sorted out after 20 minutes. No harm done but it did take a few days to clear the charges.

Stayed there for a quick 2-nighter. First room reeked of cigarette smoke. Luckily, we were moved to another. Second room was clean and tidy. LOUD on a Saturday night with clubs nearby. No in-room WiFi, and time limits in the lobby. Staff was nice and accommodating. Would stay there again with a good discount as it served it's purpose of a clean + safe. Otherwise, not for me.

Great location! Easy walking distance to wharf and ferries, sites, shopping and food. The rooms were comfortable but sparce. Could have used better lighting. Free internet in lobby was useful. Wish it was in the room though. Would stay again when in Auckland.

The location is great! Near the major activities in Auckland, with the amenities required, a good price based on the location. One thing against it does not have wi-fi conection in the room, just in the lobby and only 30 min per day.

The hotel is located right in the heart of downtown Auckland. So the location was great. It was right on Queen Street three small blocks away from the ferry terminal and was surrounded by restaraunts and shopping places. The room was small, but not too uncomfortable. It also had a small stove, sink, and refrigerator. Nothing else made the room stand out. I would have no problem staying here again due to it's location. Other than that, it was a standard hotel room. It was a good price though.

The hotel's location is great. It is located on Queen Street and close proximity to stores in downtown. You can walk approximately 15 minutes to SkyCity or a few minutes away from the wharf. Close to the underground train station and a block away from the Airport bus. If you don't care about the external noise from an outside bar that may keep you awake at night until the wee hours, this hotel is defintely a good value. Tip: Just remember to bring earplugs.

The location couldn't be better - right on Queen St. For the price, the rooms were okay. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again.

Expensive for the money you pay. Terrible internet service/access.

Excellent location!!! Gave us an upgrade.

Stay at this Mercure not the one on Customs Street. Same price, a million times fancier and more modern and beautiful. Nice design, beautiful rooms, real luxurious feeling. Great location.

This was very, very disappointing. [...]The first room we were given was dark, dirty and small, with a filthy, stained bedspread. Though there was a small restaurant in the building, I would never consider eating in a place this dirty. [...]

To my surprise my room had a mini-kitchen with microwave, sink, range, fridge, dishes, etc

It was a good location, clean, quiet, staff were helpful & funny, price was reasonable

The location of this hotel is what makes me recommend it to one and all. For those who are on a quick sight seeing tour , comforts of the hotel are a distant second to the location and ease of travelling. Thats not to say that the hotel isnt comfortable, it was fantastic at the price. But being located bang in the middle of the city made things a lot simpler.
