Not many 1-2 bedroom places for families near the airport. This one had two single beds, one in the lounge area, one in a small bedroom, and a main bedroom with queen bed. The bathroom is an ensuite off the main bedroom. We had a ground floor unit that was clean but some damage to the walls. Quiet (Sunday night). Wifi free up to 1 Gb. Probably not great for traveling with young kids, a bit of an industrial complex, but ok for us for a single night (kids 8-11 years old).
You can decide. My wife and I were flying in from SF. It's 11 hours and while we were arriving at 6 in the morning we didn't figure they would have a room available. In the rain we arrived only to find that they had NO ONE operating the hotel. No reception. No manager. Nothing. Locked up. "We open at 9" is what the sign said. Jerry the Manager knew we were coming in from SF and could have told us they couldn't be bothered to pay someone to be there at 7am. Holiday Inn had someone. So we stayed there. You decide. if you think they should have had someone - even on call - well...do what you will. We canceled three other nights that we had planned to stay.
Very disappointed by the Management at this property. This was booked for a business stay and paid for by my company. It was not a suitable property due to multiple reasons: blinds were very thin and bent, let in a lot of light; lots of noise from the street, not the best area, and door was left unlocked at check-in; after-hours service phone number was not answered (call was not returned the next day). Had to stay elsewhere as was unable to sleep. We were charged the entire 4-night stay for one night. Would have been happy to pay a penalty for late cancellation, but it was not fair to charge us 4-night stay for 1 night. Management would not consider decreasing the penalty at all, no consideration for the circumstances. Basically, if you check in to this hotel and find it's not suitable, cannot sleep, etc. you will have no recourse for a refund for any of your money. Paid $1006.00 for one night stay. Horrible customer service, no regard for the feelings of their patrons. Extremely disappointed. I hope the $1006.00 for one night's stay is worth an unhappy customer who will tell anyone who will listen how unaccommodating Management is at this property.
Stayed in a 2 bedroom room. Very spacious, comfortable and clean, its well equipped with a kitchen and all the utensils. Bonus was the washing machine and dryer. Looks close to the road but can not hear a thing its quiet and well placed.
With the Novotel Auckland Airport starting to charge ridiculous amounts for a room, it was time to find somewhere new to stay after the long flight to Auckland. After scouting around online my sister found this establishment at under a quarter the price of the Novotel. That was a good start. Even better is that the location is easy to get to from the airport along State Highway 20A. It is located in an office development at the corner of Kirkbride Road and SH20A. Check in staff were very friendly and we were soon in the suite. We were not expecting much but were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and spaciousness of the suite. Kitchen facilities were very good (microwave but no oven), laundry facilities were very unexpected (washing machine and dryer) and very comfortable beds in the two bedrooms. The only minor downer was the bathroom being an ensuite to the bigger bedroom. Some will consider this a problem. The suite was very clean. They do provide some fresh milk for teas and coffees and a complimentary continental style breakfast is available. We would certainly chose to stay here when next heading to Auckland. NOTE: The intersection of SH20A/Kirkbride Road is currently being upgraded and there are diversion signs to Kirkbride Road Hotels from SH20A at Montgomerie Road. Do NOT follow these from the airport as you can still turn left into Kirkbride Road from SH20A.
Room was great a flat really, plenty f room. When we got there I asked for options to get to Eden Park for the Lions third test. I was basically told taxi and that it would be $25 so booked it and was told 40 - 50, and they wouldn't pick me up. Walked up to ATM at shops and saw to Lions fans at the bus stop. Using public transport is easy, don't be talked into a taxi. Go left out of suites, walk 300 yards to bus stop outside shop. Pay $3.50 one way to Onehunga Train Station. Get on train to Bri? Which is town centre or change at Newmarket for Kingsland and the stadium. Dead easy got us back as well.
I was pleasantly surprised at the well appointedness and economy of this complex. Full kitchen excepting oven, laundry in each unit. Good parking and excellent location. Quiet. Be aware that these are non serviced apartments so you won't get your beds made or towel replaced daily though staff will come in and turn off the power points and close the shutters. But I think its worth the economy for business trippers. Be aware that if you stay in a downstairs unit you will easily hear the plumbing from the upstairs units as the plumbing is not insulated. I also found the wifi lacking. That said this is now my accommodation of choice when working in this area of Auckland
The hotel is located in a business park around 3 miles from Auckland International Airport. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, providing basic information about the unit and surrounding amenities. Inside the unit, you will find a smart TV, free wifi, cooking facilities and two bedrooms which will comfortably accomodate four adults. Only one bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, so unless you are a family or close friends, you may want to consider this aspect. The unit was comfortable and quiet, with all the facilities that yo would be likely to need. I would not consider this a suitable base for tourism.
Friendly host. Bed was very hard. No Sky tv. Would recommend a upper floor room. Lots of roadworks nearby but close to buses. Although the site states there is an airport shuttle. They will only take you to the airport at a cost of $10 per person.
the motel website has a floor plan of the suites. the ground floor suited us well. i had a single room, my companion a double room. the bathroom opened from her room. when booking the owner pointed out this and checked if this would be okay with us. clean, tidy, easy access from the city and to the airport the manager, jerry, was attentive and helpful
