Well it's right next to the upper mall, so that very convenient. The rooms are a bit dated, but not horrible, there was a fan that we set up to get that mountain air into our room. There was some very old pics on the walls to chuckle at. The beds were ok, but not great. Overall it was ok, but not great. Get the picture.
I will say that having stayed in Snowmass Village before, the location is great since this is next to the mall area with shops and restaurants. The downside is that the rooms were clearly older and worn. The toilet didn't look like it had ever been cleaned in our room. The toilet was literally black on the bottom. The one trash can didn't even have a bag in it for waste. We had to call security as people were partying and yelling until 3am and blasting music on both nights of our stay. Considering there's no AC, you need to have the windows open which magnifies the sound level. We were across from the pool which seemed to be where everyone seemed to party. The most aggravating thing about our trip was at check out we were given our bill which did not reflect the same info as on our booking confirmation. The resort fee was never included on our booking info, and the resort changed the prices per night on our print out they gave us which didn't make much sense. They refused to acknowledge they did anything wrong and weren't transparent with the resort fee even though we provided them with our breakdown on the confirmation when we booked the room. I'll not deal with this hotel again when staying in snowmass. There are other places that were much quieter, cleaner and better deals than wildwood.
First off, if you are expecting a fancy hotel this is not it. However, if you are someone who likes to be outdoors a lot on your vacation and just need a room to sleep in this is perfect. It is not a fancy resort but it does offer self-laundry facilities, beds, a pool, and 2 hot tubs. We had a good stay here and really liked the location; we will be back. There are a few notables I'll share though. There is no air conditioning but that is not highly unusual for mountain hotels since the summers are mild. They do provide 2 fans and we were able to be comfortable at night with the window open. Please note though that if there are people in the courtyard that with voices will echo; I was woken up at 4am from some guests that must have been arriving or leaving; thankfully I travel with ear plugs. The faucet in the shower leaked constantly so we did have to keep the door shut so we didn't hear it at night. Only 1 of the 2 hot tubs were functional, but since there were not a lot of guests using it this was not a huge issue for us. We stayed here 3 nights and would definitely stay again for the price, especially since we got it via Groupon.
The hotel is right next to all of the shops/restaurants so great access but this means lots of people around. Everything was loud in the area and in the hotel while we were there. The front desk girls seemed somewhat indifferent when we checked in. Looks like they've tried to update the older property but did it on a tight budget. Not the worst place I've ever stayed but wasn't impressed.
Wildwood Snowmass is roughly what you'd expect for an older ski resort. Dated room decor, the views are nice, and it's right next to Snowmass Village. However, with that said, from our experience, ***management is completely unresponsive*** when it comes to rectifying problems they caused. Here's what happened to us: When checking in, there were no parking spots in the check-in area, so the front desk staff (who are actually very friendly and helpful) told me to park outside, and that we would have 15 minutes to be there while checking in. After checking in, I returned exactly 10 minutes later to my car, to find a $40.00 parking citation. The front desk staff assured me that evening, and the next day, that it was a simple misunderstanding, and that the manager would take care of it with the parking authority... ...10 days, many voicemails, many emails, and multiple phone calls later, the manager (Allen H.) has yet to return any of my calls or emails. He simply refuses to acknowledge any contact. Over a $40 citation that he could easily clear up, according to the Snowmass Village officer I contacted. Thus, although I normally don't do this, I'm posting a very negative review. - Disappointed In Denver P.S. They may try to dispute the above, but I can provide documentation for every single thing: * The documented checkin time and documented citation time are exactly 10 minutes apart. * I have recorded audio of multiple conversations with the front desk staff and manager on duty, promising that the manager would contact me and clear this up. * I have the records of each of my contact attempts via phone and email over the last ten days.
Management need to have a long look at their practices in this hotel. Bits and bobs broken or not working properly, reception staff overworked and having to cope with complaints as, for example, keys for doors don't work. However a cost effective hotel in Aspen area with great parking and a good fitness room. Could be better though
Don't do it. The room had no air flow what so ever, you about suffocate in the bathroom, & the room was very hot even with the window open and 2 fans going. Had tickets paid for and were supposed to be waiting at the front desk. The guy trying to check me in was so hard to understand, it took another front desk clerk to explain it and then sent me to the main Westin hotel for service. The staff and front desk manager at the main Westin hotel were very pleasant and helped get me lined out since the staff of the wildwood didn't . The room decor is old, Hallways, evelators, & vending machine room were filthy, and the over all experience was terrible. We had booked thru groupon for 3 nights to celebrate my birthday but checked out after 1 night.
DON'T GOT HERE!! It's inexpensive and there are reasons for it... *The rubber mats on the walkway give off the burning rubber smell in the heat *There's no AC, just a box fan or some fan in the room (not ceiling) *The front desk rarely answered calls to them, you had to walk down usually *sink was broken and we only had 1 towel, so the room wasn't stocked *Pool restriction hours weren't enforced so it was loud very late *poorly lit at night which made my girlfriend feel unsafe walking around by herself *supply closets were left open and there was garbage strewn throughout the grounds *room was tacky... they had a lamp with a long black extension (against white wall) plugged in to wall. Could've used white conduit to hide it. *The outlet for the TV and mini-fridge was connected to the light switch * As a Westin owned property (and literally next to Westin in Snowmass Village), I expect more. This was one of the worst hotels I've been to. If you're in college and want to save money, this may be good for you, but don't expect much of it. The photos aren't accurate either. If anything, at least the bed was relatively comfy and the room we had wasn't as garishly tacky as it could've been. We stayed one night and then got a room elsewhere for the 2nd night.
Stayed here after spending the afternoon in Aspen. No air conditioning, which I knew about in advance, but the window didn't even have a screen on it and we were on the first floor right by the pool! Ugh.... they did, however, bring us a tabletop fan which we ran all night and kept the window closed. The parking, elevators, and stairs are all in odd spots which means you are dragging your stuff quite a ways! Bed was too soft and the room which was decorated vintage ski lodge just looked cheap! Wait...maybe it looked vintage because it was vintage!! The only good thing was we were able to walk to several restaurants for dinner!
When I arrived my room was HOTTT!!! No other way to say it other than hot AF. I went to the desk( phone was too busy apparently) and asked about it. I was told "none of the rooms had air". I asked for a fan and they said they could provide one of those so I thought " well I'll open a window too , in the meantime". I went back to my room to discover I didn't even have a screen on my window. Call me crazy ( many have) but I'm not leaving a window open without a screen, especially in bear country. So I went BACK to the desk( again the phone was busy) and they said they would work on it. I returned around 2100( I wanted to sit in the hot tub) only to find still no screen and no fan. I AGAIN returned to the reception desk. She looked for empty rooms to move me too and 6 hours after my original check in I finally have a room with windows that open and have a screen and can relax in the hot tub. Yikes. This place needs work. Not sure if it just because it the summer or what. But if you're not prepared, don't advertise!!!!
