We spent one night here as we wanted to eat in the restaurant (excellent!) to add to our collection of the Piatto del Buon Riccordo. The room (210) was very clean although very small. The bathrooom was so small we did not even use the shower. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The coffee machine was not working which turned out to be good as the server brought us freshly made coffees from the hotel bar. The eggs were cold as the food warmer was not turned on. I turned on the power strip for the toaster. The fruit (oranges) were moldy. While the staff was very nice, there did not seem to be any quality control or inspection of the breakfast buffet. Very poor. In my opinion the hotel should not rate four stars.
Very helpful and friendly staff. good location. The room we were given was reasonably sized and very clean, we had a massive balcony that overlooked the small port area and the Adriatic. The décor if the foyer and restaurant was interesting with a lot old radios from the 30s and 40s. Breakfast was great with lots of options. Free Wifi
The hotel is close to the sea, rooms are spacious, at least on the third floor. Breakfast is fine for the food, but the automatic coffee machine makes a terrible cappuccino. Dinner was ok, prices reasonable. The beaches are 5 minutes walk apart.
Stayed one night. The hotel is definitely a seasonal one, probably super popular in summer because of great location right near the beach. Room was not big but well spacious enough for a short stay. There was a storm on the day of my arrival, pretty cold, even snowy, but the hotel was warm, AC worked ok. Breakfast not so rich, Italian style, but not scarce. Staff and service - efficient and polite. Wifi - stable. There is a very nice pizzeria across the road, recommended for dinners.
There was a local cross country bicycle race and they had taken up every hotel room within miles except the one i got that no one wanted a single. This is my second stay and as good as the first. They remembered me though I usually stay with friends in Porto San Giorgio. I don't eat in local places though I have a favorite bar i go to for caffe and gilato.
No pretensions of grandeur, but everything you would wish for. Bedrooms not large but sufficient. Excellent air conditioning and quiet. All the staff were very helpful. Breakfasts were good, lots of choice, from fruit to cooking your own eggs, and several types of croissant. A small outside pool to cool off in the heat. Position close to the beach. Good sea views.
From the moment you walk through the doors of the David Palace Hotel, you will be feel the nostalgic atmosphere, helped by dozens of old time radios from a bygone era and old TV and even a jukebox. Located not far from the seaside, this property has ample-size bedrooms, even larger bathrooms (though the showers is cramped) and most rooms include walk-out patios (with a clothesline!). It can be noisy at night due to traffic. But the fantastic restaurant, with terrific service, more than makes up for it. Make sure to save time to enjoy the ample breakfast selections, including make your own eggs.
We had intended to stay longer, but this place wasn't as good as it would pretend to be. The rooms are clean, and well-appointed, and the bed is quite large. But the bed we had was hard, and the air-con was noisy. But, even worse, the noise from the beach road is not at all well-suppressed, and so we were awoken far earlier than we had planned. The lift is very small and very slow, but didn't appear to be noisy enough to cause any disturbance. The breakfast was good and the service was attentive - not surprising, really - we were the only persons in the breakfast room. The reception area and breakfast/dining rooms are decorated in a very 'grand'manner, with exceptionally high ceilings in pastel shades, but the acoustic isolation of the rooms is significantly poorer than one expects these days. The one night was enough for us, we moved on to a different location.
We thought we were in for a treat, having called ahead, and with Best Western only being able to give us a price of 120 Euros discount and seeing that the hotel is 4 stars! No help with baggage. We were shocked to see that it was in the middle of nowhere right off of the port - no beach to be found, and the center of town nowhere nearby. After a ten-minute walk to try and find SOMETHING charming nearby to see (in vain), we went up to our NO-SMOKING room. Ours was in the corner on an entirely SMOKING floor. I don't know what genius thought that up. Who puts a no-smoking room on an all-smoking floor? It seriously smelled worse than an ashtray in the hall, and the smoke smell seeped into our room through the not-so-well-insulated door. We ended up leaving the window open (with the hopes that our neighbors didn't decide to move to the balcony from the hall to smoke!) and had to put towels around the bottom of the door in order to sleep. The room itself was fine. Not four-star material, but the bathroom was clean and serviceable. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone on vacation. It is majorly overpriced for its location, ridiculous to call any room on a smoking floor "non-smoking" and not nice enough to be considered four stars. Pretty good breakfast, though.
Porto San Giorgio's hotel David Palace was our 1st stop during our 2 week vacation in Italy. The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful, polite and professional. The atmosphere was really enjoyable and being collectors ourselves we really appreciated the wonderful collection of antique radios on display throughout the entire hotel. It was nice to watch a sunrise above the marina from our balcony and the water in the pool provided the necessary coolness. The restaurant is perfect for large gatherings and events (we were with a wedding party and enjoyed the delicious food and setting). Thank you David's Palace and Claudio for given us such a great start to our unforgettable vacation!!!!!! Best regards Alla and Cliff
