A beautiful Parador in a great area of Spain. Staff very helpful and friendly, especially David the terrace bar waiter, who also found my wallet and kindly returned it to me. Rooms great. Food in the hotel very nice.
Quiet, in a lovely garden, Argomaniz is a lovely to stay before continuing with one's journey. Good food and with lovely clean, modern, comfortable rooms. Good food, though service was a little slower than we expected, but that was perhaps because we were tired.
This Parador is very tranquil and fresh. Our room was excellent, large, bathroom with a luxurious shower as well as bath plus Nespresso maker. Dining room in the old part which was originally in the old granary - well worth a lool
Lovely renaissance palace modernised to make a very comfortable, stylish hotel.restaurant was excellent, one of the best meals we have had.it is in a very quiet setting but there is a town fifteen minutes away.
Book well in advance as this is a very popular Parador with close proximity to the ferry ports at Bilbao & Santander. It is also close to the city of Vitoria, an excellent city to visit. Excellent service from all members of staff, beautiful accommodation with panoramic views of the surrounding area from it elevated position. The old part of the building has great historic interest as it was used at one time by Napoleon
Delightful parador just a short distance from Vitoria. Charming restaurant and bar area. Our room was in a modern wing and had all the usual things that we have to come to expect from paradors. Room was standard and view from window was to the back of the hotel- well worth upgrading on our next visit.
We booked the Parador as part of a trip around the Basque Country, and arrived there after a very uninspiring afternoon in Vitoria-Gasteitz. It is easily found, signposted off the main road, with lots of parking close to the hotel entrance. We have stayed at a number of Paradors in Northern Spain, and this one fits in well with the others. It isn’t, probably, as “historic” as some of them, the rooms appear all to be added on rather than converted within the original building, but the upside of this is that they are larger than many, well equipped and comfortable. We had a superior room, with a king size bed, which was very comfortable – we have found other Parador mattresses to be not so kind on the back, and soundproofing was excellent. The bathroom large, with a good shower. Wi-Fi was included, and more than adequate in our room. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which is large and attractive, and the food and wine were very good, and we ate whilst a massive storm crashed around us, with thunder, lightning and torrents of rain – so much so that the hotel briefly lost power, which tripped back in immediately, either due to emergency generators, or a rapid reset at the sub-station. However, as with all of the Paradors we have stayed at, the high point of our visit was the staff, both in the hotel and restaurant. Paradors appear to operate at minimum staffing levels, so a load in reception, the bar area or restaurant quickly puts a strain on them, but in all cases the staff were pleasant, helpful and capable – we didn’t wait long for anything, and all our questions answered. Finally, the cost was not excessive. One, I think, downside, which relates to all Paradors, please, please, please will you add a beverage tray in to the rooms, a simple kettle with tea and coffee sachets would make life so much easier, and would not affect your revenue!
A beautiful and peaceful parador in a village on the outskirts of Vitoria, recently refurbished to a very high standard with modern bedrooms in new wing and restaurant, bar etc in old palace beautifully presented. Restaurant had great service and very good dinners, on amigos deal, and breakfasts. Very welcoming and helpful reception with maps and things to do. Beautiful lake area and Vitoria within 3 or 4 miles. Vitoria particularly attractive and laid back, enjoyable to walk around - escalors up the hills - and a great contemporary art exhibition at Artium in the centre of the town, Liliana Porter on show until 27 August. Go see. Good for two nights, not an in your face building, but one of the pleasantest of the 60 or so Paradors we have stayed at.
Already first signal when approaching the Highway exit make you quiet and feeling well: no search, rapid check-in, a fresh drink in the cosy bar! Every minute is relax and well-feeling! Staff pays attention, in discrete presence! Food very fine!
Stayed here for one night alone during a motorcycle tour of Spain and France. Hotel is about 2 hours from Santander and so convenient if heading for the Pyrenees from Santander ferry. I booked a junior suite which was very large and well-appointed with modern bathroom. Staff efficient and friendly and restaurant food good. They suggested I park my bike by the front door which was convenient, safe and secure. The hotel offers free wifi but unfortunately I found it unreliable. This was the only fault I found with the hotel. Internet using data roaming worked OK in this location.
