Arenal Montechiari Hotel

The view of the Volcano from the property is very beautiful. They maintain the grounds nice. The breakfast was good, staff nice enough. But the bed was very very hard, my husband joked we could get some wooden boards to make it softer. Very no frills room but clean enough, you certainly don't want to hang about the room too long anyways cause there is so much to see.

We had a great stay here. Montechiari's location is great, close to town and restaurants. Amazing view of the volcano from the bungalows and the property is surrounded by beautiful gardens. Our only complaint was that the room and bathroom was dark and there was no ceiling fan. More lighting in the bungalows is needed.

Beautiful grounds and view of Arenal. AC and large showers with comfortable bed. Great breakfast and pool a plus.

Very nice cabins, gardens and pool. Close enough to town but doesn't feel like it is, quiet. Saw toucans, a sloth and iguanas while there. Friendly staff & reasonable price. Will be back and recommend to all.

My family and I stayed at the Arenal Montechiari Hotel for 1 night. Nestled near the base of the Arenal mountain it gives a nice view of the best known volcano in Costa Rica in the day. The hotel is very energy efficient with the lighting used in the rooms. These were too dim for my liking, brighter lumens that are just as energy efficient would have been nice. The room was adequate and met basic needs for our 1 night stay. the buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious, lots of natural juices which was great,

Highly recommend. We took our adult kids and all our grand children. They loved it and wished we could have stayed longer. This was my second time there and can't wait to go back. A real jungle Costarican feel and yet close enough to town to walk to everything. GREAT GREAT GREAT.....

Very convenient location. Nice set-up with pool, great to cool off after hiking. Great view of Arenal. Very limited wi-fi area!

After we finished our trip in Costa Rica I have to give 5 star for this hotel. If you dont want to ? - You should see our Jaco Beach hotel. Crew in very professional and friendly.

This is the best bang for the buck! In a beautiful setting, can walk into town, and yet feel the vibe of the jungle! Grounds are gorgeous and a good view of the volcano. Only two negative things- the walls are super thin so we ended up asking several neighbors to be quiet, and the shower pressure was a joke. We'd stay again!

You can't beat this location for the price. A 5 minute, easy, safe sidewalked walk into Fortuna. Great included breakfast and absolutely beautiful grounds. The room, or small cabin, really, was very clean and just what we needed. If you're looking for a safe, simple, clean place, this is a great one!

Clean and quiet place to stay. Surroundings are well taken care of and the breakfast exceeded my expectations. Basic needs in the rooms.

I rate this hotel 4 out of 5 stars because though the staff were extraordinarily friendly and kind, this is actually very typical of the Costa Rican people in general. They are very gentle, kind people who take life pretty easy. The vibes were perfect for the kind of vacation we were looking for. The hotel was rustic, removed from the main center of La Fortuna, which was perfect for us. It did have a great breakfast, simple and with delicious coffee, fresh fruits and juices. The towels were clean, the bathroom well kept and beds were fine. Each villa/hut was too close to the neighboring one, so you can hear your neighbors (incl intimate things). Birds are everywhere, so in the night it will be loud but that is natural. No wifi access in the rooms or pool area, had to go to the check-in area at the beginning of the properties to get service. This is a nice family owned property and located on a side road in a very touristy town. The travel from San Jose airport cost $160 USD so be careful, we weren't expecting the distance to be so far and the cost to be so much. Tours and outtings all cost approx $60 USD so budget well. Great times and vibes though...Cost Rica es Pura Vida!!

This hotel is beutiful, it has an amazing volcano view and its surrounded by a small stream.

The pictures don't do this place justice, everything is beautiful here. The entire place is covered in lush gardens with exotic plants. The staff was extremely friendly. I speak very little Spanish but was still able to communicate. The included breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, great juice, tasty eggs, dark Costa Rican coffee, and unique thick pancakes that were awesome. It is a very short walk into the center of La Fortuna. So exploring the city was very easy. The pool was always clean and while we were swimming around Iguanas came and hung out by the pool. Each cabin has two beds, a mini fridge, spacious bathroom, air conditioner, and TV. There is no clock or phone, so bring an alarm if you need one. This place was everything I wanted and much much more. I didn't want to leave after 3 days. It looks like they are building more units and a new pool area. So I am already looking forward to my next trip and stay here. Highly recommended.

From the time we arrived, Emma, one of the owners, was very helpful. She offered to make various arrangements at substantial discounts and offered advice on our subsequent travel plans. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family.

very nice place, close to the town. Very beautiful landscaping, freshly prepared breakfast, very friendly staff.

Owner Daisy and her family run the property management, very friendly people and extremely helpful in advising and guiding us all thru our stay. The property has a very good view of the Volcano and convenient to town. The garden and the pool are maintained very well and reflect the tropical feel of Costa Rica and Arenal area very well. The room was very basic, no telephone or internet in the room, basic amenities and bathroom accessories. Could hear the rain, water, bugs and outside noise all night. Wireless was available in the office area only. Access to the property was thru an unpaved road. Breakfast was served hot eggs, pancakes, fruit slices and beans/rice with juice and coffee. Towels smelled like toasted bread and stale.

Although a bit hard to find in the dark, the morning light revealed beautiful grounds surrounding cabana style rooms. The staff was perfect and helpful, especially when we had some trouble with some travel arrangements. The hotel has recently changed hands so there is some construction on the grounds but not interfering. The only problem was that the hot water was solar powered and when we were there it had been overcast for several days, so no sun meant no hot water. Overall though, very comfortable for the price.

Beautiful location, well landscaped grounds , extremely friendly staff . Very basic amenities , clean and well kept . Excellent value for the money
