Not a tremendous amount of English speaking employees (or guests as far as I could tell) - I thought I had successfully requested a Noon check-out (normal is 11 AM) and ride to airport (if you arrange via hotel - they will arrange for a prepaid taxi which will save you 1000 yen ~ $10 USD; total cost ~$28 via hotel versus ~ $39 from airport) but when I got back at 11:15 they were "panicking" because my packed bags were still in the room... however once I explained they were very gracious and told me not to hurry (bottom line I probably should have used Google translate on my phone to confirm the late checkout or at least have them repeat back to me what I thought I had communicated. All the employees were very polite and helpful. I had a "comfort grade" nonsmoking room 183 sq feet with full bed which only cost $60 USD. Room had shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, hairdryer, tissue, slippers, toothbrush toothpaste, razor, mouthwash, heated toilet seat!, ionizer, humidfier, central AC/heat, coffeemaker, mini-refrigerator and trouser press. The room was well lit and had US style 110 V plugs. Only thing it did NOT have was a in-room safe. Excellent buffet breakfast is available (which was not included with my room) for a separate cost of ~ $15 USD.
It took us some struggle walking from the JR station with our baggage during such a snowy day as the hotel is not very close to the station. ASPAM is closed to the hotel but it was closed when we visited there as the ASPAM would close at 6pm during winter time. Breakfast in this hotel ranks no. 1 in Aomori and it truly is when compared to other business hotels in Aomori. Overall a good hotel for the price we paid.
We stayed one night. Hotel was located a few blocks from the JR station and was relatively easy to find. Room was clean, modern and comfortable and relatively small but is expected in Japan. We were happy to hear that our reservation included breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and included wide assortment of traditional japaneses and some western dishes. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is central to all downtown area shopping and site seeing. Good for overnight stay.
Our group of eight stayed in this hotel for one night in October 2017. Our findings: 1. Overall very good 2. Value for money 3. Convenient location with plenty of restaurants nearby including the French restaurant in the hotel. Ten minutes walk from Aomori station. 4. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Bed and pillow are comfortable 5. Staff service is very good. Receptionists speak good English. We strongly recommend this hotel to other travellers.
Most Japanese hotels are a standard cookie cutter vertical box with windows and nothing architectural to look at. They are purpose built for functionality, and to be a stay of residence for the average Japanese tourist on the road. JAL City Aomori fits the bill (10mins walk from the JR station). The room is nothing flash and comes with standard amenities. Not something you'd want to lounge around in becoz claustrophobia soon sets in, given the smallish size. And if you're a gaijin, there's only one non-Japanese TV channel for you; it's the BBC News (sigh). Front Desk is helpful, but in a matter-of-fact sort of way. What did catch our attention over the 3nights stay, Iis the French restaurant on site : it seemed to attract non-resident guests for dinner; which speaks well for the hotel.
The room is extremely spacious in Japan standard. Breakfast buffet is very affordable and it offers many local delicacies using local ingredients. The choices are simply amazing. The hotel is relatively far away from the train station (about 5-10 min walk) but 80% of the walking can be completed on the main shopping street with cover. The service more than makes up to this deficiency. There are also many restaurants nearby. And the ASPAM Tower is just a traffic light away.
We timed our visit to coincide with my birthday 6th May because I was born some 50 years ago in Aomori. The hotel is clean and friendly and good functional business standard rather than luxury. Location is just off the main shopping street in the heart of the old town with easy access to the train station and old harbour area. I would describe the hotel as comfortable and competitively priced which is what we needed as we took 2 rooms, (one for the kids). We had a great view over the harbour and memorial Hakodate ferry!
This hotel is not good for casual/family travel. They do not have essential facilities that we always need. There is no self service laundry that you can easily find in every hotels in Japan. We had to take our clothes to Sunroute hotel nearby to wash and dry. They do not send our luggage. We have been in so many big and small hotel in Japan, this is the first one say NO, we had to find Yamato to forward our luggage to next destination. Will never come back
Booked a small double room hence the outcome was as expected, a 4 ft double bed and one feet free space. Too tired and didn't sense whether the pillow or bed is ok or not. Air refresher in the room. Two source of water, one for washing and another for drinking though I didn't use the drinking water for boiling water as I drink bottle water. The shower is great, water pressure and temperature very consistent and very clean. Breakfast is small compact and yet has many small little dishes. Reception is friendly and helpful. Luggage storage is at racks located next to reception and at open area tied with rope. 5 mins walking distance to JR station. A convenient store nearby. Didn't use the hotel internet as I have my own wifi.
We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights from 27/4/2017. Though it is not located right next to the station, it is within 5 to 6 minutes' walking distance from the station. The room is not a triple one but added with an extra bed to a twin room. Yet, it is not too crowded for 3. The most impressive is that the room has a small electric massage cushion for the waist and shoulder which is an excellent device in particular after days of walking. The staff are not quite good at speaking English but it is not a problem. They tried their best to accommodate our need. Fantastic
