Beach and pool was awesome. Hotel room was old but we didn't spend much time in it. Meals at buffet were just ok. Other restaurants were better but needed reservation the day before and we're not open every night
The Staff would do anything to help you. I would surely stay there again
The hotel was clean and the room was standard. the staff was amazing! The entertainment and the food was also very good. A nice place to stay.
Hotel itself was not the nicest. Rooms and facilities old and outdated. Food was average. Beach was beautiful. The fact I paid a affordable and lower rate than most is the only reason I would go back.
Jolly Beach is a huge resort on a fantastic beach. I asked several locals what their favorite beach was without telling them where I was staying. The most common response was Jolly Beach. The room we were in was small; no coffee maker, no refrigerator, no microwave, no dresser. But, the view from our 3 floor deck was outstanding! We were in the room only to sleep and shower, so we have no complaints. Rooms are worn, but clean. Staff varied - some friendly and some could care less. We found this very different from our stays in St. Lucia where everybody was genuinely friendly. I think one reason of our perceived lack of friendliness is just because of the size of the resort and huge number of employees. Drinks are weak, but the food was plentiful and we always found at least one main dish that was very good. Try to find Linden (just ask any beach vendor) if you want fresh lobster on the beach. Most people staying there agreed with us that the big draws to Jolly Beach Resort are the beach and the value for the price.
From check in to check out everything went very smooth. Just low your expectations and you will be happy.
The staff was excellent, the rooms sufficient, the food was horrible. I don't expect much, but this food. Are you kidding me? I was not able to enjoy a meal until we paid $60.00 at airport for 3 fish tacos and fish and chips. If you wanted appropriate time for meal service go to the buffet. If you have 2 hours to waste for sub-par food then make your reservations. Food in a timely manner, go to buffet, same lousy food but quicker.
Bathroom supplies such as towels were not given daily. Had to call to get them.
Outdated facilities the charge $10 USD per night for wifi, so as a result hotel patron congregate at the hotel lobby to access the only free wifi hotspot in the hotel. I guess you get what you pay for however the wifi charge is inexcusable the hotel staff are nice the food is ok selection is limited.
Regarding the lotion, I ended up having to leave it as it was too large to travel with. Waste of money when there should have been lotion there on the first day. Had to call for toilet paper and towels. Air conditioning could be better. We love the resort - this was our third time there and we will be back but some things do need to be corrected. We do highly recommend the hotel.
I wont say you get what you pay for because I've been cheaper places and have had better experiences ....upon arrival i was placed in a room to which had pipe issues so i was forced to move the second room i was placed in had pipe issues the day after so i was forced to move again it was a horrible experience especially when your on vacation thank god the staff was pleasing other wise i would have lost all my mind the hotel needs to be renovated i wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone without sharing my experience .....the choice is yours
This was my first trip to Antigua and the price was too good to pass up. It was suppose to be my friend & I but I ended up going alone. The place is a bit dated, there isn't much to look at and expect but my room was always clean. I only had one outlet by the TV which sucked.Hotel staff were extremely friendly. Housekeeping was there everyday and I even asked them to bug spray my room, which they did. Beach is beautiful but vendors are a nuisance. Same people would come to me everyday and I had to tell them "I'm not interested in anything here-I'm just here for the beach, please leave me alone"-it's not that I'm rude but bro......I'm trying to relax. Food is good, not amazing-they tried to have a variety like turkey carving night, outside BBQ by the beach, it was cute. I only made reservations to the seafood restaurant, which is free but if you want real seafood, like lobster, it's an additional $25-bummer. Food was still good though. Place had Lots of bugs/insects. Entertainment at night was okay. Flame thrower, karaoke, reggae party and a Bon fire on the beach-I'm sure they vary daily though. Drinks were really good-they make whatever you want, so if sweet drinks isn't your thing google something and they got you. I knew what I was getting myself into- it's really not as bad as past reviewers say but I understand that not everyone will like it.
This is an old hotel and has not been updated since it was built 35 years ago! The owners haven't put a penny in this resort in 30 years and neither should you! I wouldn't use this resort if they paid me to stay there. The room was everything I feared, the mattress on the bed was older than me and the air conditioning was barely a few degrees cooler than the outside temperature. Let the nightmare begin. On day 1 we took a nap only to wake up sweating and realizing the power was out in the resort, so no air conditioner or running water! We go down to the main Buffet for dinner only to find it closed for 'renovations', being promised it's going to 'reopen any day now', we would find out it has been closed for several weeks before we arrived and it was still closed when we left 7 days later! With that we find out we have to go all the way to the other side of the resort for breakfast and lunch, a very long walk as this is a large resort. One day we decide to have lunch by the pool only to be harassed and attacked by seagulls, disgusting! No staff around to clean up so the seagulls outnumbered the guests! One day the toilet in the room didn't work, so we had to use the public rest room near the front desk, and it took many complaints and 3/4 of a day to get it fixed! The hot water faucet in the shower leaked more water out the handle than came out of the shower head! This was all inclusive, but the restaurants were only open during certain hours.Bottom line DON'T STAY HERE!
The hotel was outdated, customer service was not that great. Food was just ok. Room was uncomfortable. The best thing about this resort is the beach, minus the annoying pushy vendors trying to get you to pay for jet ski. If you do decide to book this hotel, just know you are literally getting what you paid for. Knowing what we know now, we would've happily paid the cost to go to Sandals instead.
Nice, but things that should be standard are not. For all inclusive this is not what I am use to.
Many all inclusive resorts have full time 'Cruise directors' to keep the fun going... I usually then have to find the quiet pool. This place is really laid back. There was a cool kids pool where it was a bit more lively, but we stayed away. Mostly British visitors and mostly an average age of over 50 this is very laid back. The food was good. The evening restaurants are excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Over all I felt like I was in a time warp to about 20 years ago... but that was not necessarily a bad thing. Thank
The resort have a beautiful long stretch of sand and caribbean sea. The resort is large and after many hurricane need to up date on there rooms, outside and inside interior. Day and night activies was great always something to do. Food choices was good to where you wanted to eat & all inclusive is the best. My hubsand and L enjoyed and the staff was great. Hotel just need a good paint job.
Overall a good value. Fish could have been boned better. Very good location and excellent beach.
The resort is older and the rooms are dated. The food was high quality especially the three ala carte restaurants. Did not spend much time in the room as was on beach, assorted activities through day to participate in. Resort food was on par with some of the four star resorts but resort age brings rating down. Great value when get on sale as the beach and calm water is what one goes for.
but it isn't for everyone. The beach is beautiful, the staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful for the most part. It is a 3 star for hotel for a reason...the daily buffet is small, unvaried, and just okay. I have been going to Jolly Beach for over 10 years...the food has improved some years, and fallen other years. This year I was pretty disappointed. I hope this matter gets attended to. The rooms are fine, without a lot of frills...who cares? You're on a beach...have fun.
