Just arrived back from this hotel having spent 5 nights at the hotel with 4 days skiing. It's been around 10 years since I last skied the Grandvalira and there has been some significant investment in both slopes and lifts. The hotel rooms were modern, clean and comfortable, everything was where it should be and worked. Showers were powerful and hot. Hotel staff were brilliant that includes reception staff, the barman, restaurant staff and particularly the chefs (Abdul and Bye) Food was superb, everything was hot, the meat from the grill was cooked how you wanted and there was loads of choice for both dinner and breakfast. Proximity to the slopes 2 minute walk (if that), plenty of skiing despite it being early in the season (most of France was closed due to a storm). Leave the hotel from the heated boot room, turn right, 150 metres down the hill cross the road and you are at the lifts, which had no queues, we walked straight on every morning!! Leisure facilities were just what we wanted after a hard days skiing, we made use of the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Thanks to all the staff at the Hotel Font D'Argent.
Stayed here with my wife for a week in March, having been before a few years ago. It's a really nice hotel - great location (minutes from the slopes), nice modern rooms, very clean, and friendly staff. Would highly recommend , but be wary of two niggles : 1. We stayed half board, which included breakfast and evening meals. Breakfast was pretty good, but the evening meals were disappointing - the food could have been ok but everything was cold (or lukewarm at best). It's buffet style but they have no heaters for the food, so once it is put out it just gets colder and colder. It's not even that warm if you get there straight away. It's a shame because otherwise it could be quite nice. We ended up eating out 3 nights just to get some warm food!! 2. The leisure facilities are great, with 2 saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. Unfortunately though the hot tubs also are not hot - again lukewarm. I asked a number of times for them to be made warmer but the answer was always that they were at 35 degrees (they were not), so we had to make do with a few minutes shivering in them each evening before warming up in the sauna/steam room! Again a shame because, like the food, this is so easily fixed! So I'd recommend the hotel but perhaps don't go half board and don't expect the hot tubs to be hot - although at least the sauna and steam rooms are!
Enjoyed the Hotel very much, good facilities, large room with twin beds plus an extra sofa bed, small fridge, plenty of wardrobe space with a personal safe. The modern bathroom, had a bath with shower over plus a separate shower cubicle. The room was nice and warm and the beds comfy. The Hotel has a buffet breakfast & evening meal with plenty of choice including soup, salads, fresh cut fruit, at least five choices of hot food, also you can have cooked food from the grill each day. A great choice of food each day. The Staff were very efficient and friendly, so a very enjoyable stay at this Hotel.
Stayed a week on a winter break. Hotel is well-situated very near the ski lifts, between a Spar shop & bar-restaurant. Room satisfactory, although on the small side, with daily housekeeping service. Liked the wet shower room rather than the usual showerhead over a bath. WiFi often slow, but ok for online reads once working. Staff friendly & helpful, including the restaurant crew. The Reception staff were very helpful with advice & bookings of local excursions. Where this hotel stands out are its super buffet meals, making them something to savour & look forward to each day. Really liked the breakfast fruit selection, made-to-order omelettes, paella, squid with black rice, ...
This hotel is very well located. A 5 minutes walk and you are in the area where you can choose to pick up any of the 4 lifts to the ski tracks. I recommend to purchase the package that includes also dinner, as the restaurant is excellent and different delicious food is served every night. But don't eat to late, as the skiers are voracious and you may not enjoy the most delicious dishes. Services are supreme, and the cordiality of the staff really impresses. A negative point is the poor internet signal. Another area of improvement is the shower handle: as the box is tiny and the shower handle is too protuberant, you easily end up toucjing it causing the water to stop flowing, or causing full cold water to start running, or the worse, causing full boiling water start running, what can really harm you. we were in a group that used 8 rooms, and all friends complained about the same problem.I would like to invite the hotel owner to take a shower in his hotel and realize that a project error has occurred.
Great hotel, it is our second time in this hotel. Staff is very nice and helpful, every thing is very clean, great food! Will come back again for sure. Also very close to the ski lifts. Two things were missing: a selection of veggetebles at the breakfast and a kettele at the room.A++
In general staying in this hotel was good and enjoyable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and equipped with all necessary for staying there. The food was reasonably good (we used to get better meals when staying in the same Font D'Argent hotel network in Canilio, Andorra). To mention the negative points: - WiFi was almost unable to use - disconnections followed each couple of minutes - the coffee machines in the restaurant were very slow which caused queues of thirsty guests
Good hotel, clean rooms, locker room, spa Breakfast is very good, evening not so much Very close to slopes, 3 min walk Close to all shops - spar, restaurants, shops The bar in the lobby is very good and nice waiters
On arrival the manager couldn't do more to help. The room was clean, warm and had everything we needed. The location could only have been better it is was actually on the slopes, good lockable storage provided for ski equipment in the basement (with direct access to road). Bar staff were great! As for the food, despite going on a skiing holiday I think I came back heavier. Fantastic selection and it just keeps coming! Spa ok.
As other reviews have stated this hotel is perfectly located on the main bar strip with a minutes walk to the ski lifts , has great food with good cooks and variation, also it is well furnished and clean rooms and a spa if you wanted to use it. The only two issues we encountered is firstly the wifi is barely functional which is important because a lot of service providers don't let you use data in Andorra The second issue was that the room safe didn't work and after telling reception a 3 or 4 times they sent a technician and it still did not work so in the end we gave up Apart from that the stay here was pretty good
