Just not sure why it is named Amsterdam City when it's actually not in the city. Lovely hotel and the staff in all areas were fantastic. Only problem was the twin Room we stayed in was tiny...not enough room to put suitcases or move around.
Sympathy, and always a pleasure to find Portuguese people Around the world. Very kind, and service bar open 24/24 Comfortable rooms, Italian shower Tramway at 10m walking. See you next year for the same It was a pleasure d-_-b
Amazing lobby, great food, quiet, well appointed rooms. I stayed here while I attended a training in one of the conference rooms, which are nice and there's great catering. Why this hotel was named Amsterdam City is beyond me, since it is in an office area outside of the city and the Metro is a 5 minute walk away (and not really a great an option for when it's raining). The hotel is clean and that's a big plus and the staff is very helpful and friendly.
Nothing near it but some industrial area. Ten minutes walk from Metro. You can hear the next room noises. In the reservation they do not mention that breakfast is not included but rather status "unknown" after I verified, and for them this is not needed to be clearly mention since it is the same for all hotels. The staff is rather arrogant and sarcastic. The rooms are relatively small, while I was in an "Privilege" type of room.
I came to Amsterdam to celebrate my 21st birthday and decided to stay at the Mercure Hotel. I stayed here from the evening of the 16th February and checked out on the 19th February. I had a phenomenal time here, there is a bar that would close at 12 and they had a 24 hour tuck shop which would sell alcohol, juices and snacks to put in your fridge. There is various seating areas and the interior was very "cabin-esque". When we got into our room, the room was so clean and there was plenty of room to walkabout. The view out of the window was lovely and the bathroom was just right in size. What I loved about this hotel is that if you didn't want your room cleaned, you would put a sign outside your door and you would be rewarded with a £5 gift voucher to spend at the bar. The people working at the hotel made sure their guests were kept satisfied and it was very quiet which is great for those who just wanted to enjoy some peace.
Stayed here in June for three nights. Hotel is very easy to access, short walk from Overamstel Metro station (line 50 & 51). The staff at the reception were very friendly and checked us in very fast and directed us up to our room. The room was just a little outdated but was very comfortable and the air con worked fine, was also good to have a window that opened. Bathroom was fine apart from the shower not having much pressure in it. A few of the sightseeing boats are docked next to the hotel over night so in the morning they run a transfer service to Centraal (takes an hour) for only 6€, was really enjoyable! Great bar too in the hotel with a nice area outside next to the river. Only bad thing really was i couldn't get points added to my LeClub Accor Silver card.
Hotel staff i.e. Maintenance guys dealt with problem instantly, nice sleep an rooms, can get the 51 metro to overamstel in ten minutes so enough distance to be out the way of dam centre but easy to get to
Went to Amsterdam for friend's bachelors, stayed at the hotel for 3 night, the staff was friendly, rooms were in good shape, the food menu was limited but taste and quality was excellent, the best place to chill was the open restaurant facing the canal
The positives from this hotel is it's staff they are efficient helpful knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfast is good. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Amsterdam, away from centre of Amsterdam that is its biggest drawback. No shops basically you are forced to buy from the hotel grocery shop if you want anything urgent like water which is expensive. The taxi costs about 20 Euros to the centre of town. Better way is to use the Amsterdam subway / public transport which is good brisk 10 minutes walk away from the hotel. It's a quiet and desolate station and for the first time user like us confusing. It's over the Amstel and so a nice setting. The subway will take you to centre of town in about 10 -15 min. The room service is below par the management needs to look into it. The room size is ok and a good night sleep is guaranteed given the peaceful setting and no other hotel or shopping centre mall etc nearby. What's most surprising and disappointing was that since we were coming in after a long flight having booked through booking.com and had confirmed through e- mail prior to our departure that our booking were confirmed since we had wanted to check in immediately and not wait the check in time 2:00 pm yet when we arrived we were told our room was not ready and told us that we did not tell them that we will check in late .....when I told them about the e- mail confirmation they said they are fully sold out and it's in fact good for us as we would not have to pay for one day....the idea just to wait for 3-4 hours after a cross continent flight was. It appealing and when we protested magically one of the two rooms was made available to us. So we all landed in a single room and again went down to the reception with a request for our second pre booked room and viola they finally gave us our room. The point is that we have stayed in other Mercure hotels and that's why we chose this mercure but too much harassment at checking did not reflect Mercure efficiency and a bad room service like not cleaning our room on one of the days of our 6 day stay reflected we don't care attitude made us call the reception at 11 pm when we returned to the hotel to ask for fresh towels. Next day when we left for sightseeing we informed the reception of the lack of our room being cleaned viola the person cleaning the room leave behind his duster as proof of his job. This Mercure needs to pull up its socks....
Stayed here 4 nights. Welcome by the hotel manager with his "cold" jokes. Help us check in earlier for a comfortable room. Water pressure was not great on higher floor, wrong choice for me. Love the guy who ask me " are you drunk?" when i asked for my 2nd glass of complementary wine. Hahaha.. And thanks for the bar tender who serve me (while he is fasting till 10pm!) and have a good conversation together. Breakfast was ok. Surrounding area is a bit too quite at night though but the bar is serve pretty good burgers and drinks.
