Hampshire Hotel - Rembrandt Square Amsterdam

I was a little skeptical at first booking here bc of past reviews. However, I am SO happy that I stayed here. The concierge was so amazingly helpful! All of the employees were so great! The location of the hotel can't be topped! You can walk EVERYWHERE and the night life is fantastic - close to restaurants, bars, shopping across the streets, Dam square and major attractions within minutes. The hotel was pretty clean and the size was a decent one for Euro standards. I had a pleasant stay and I would stay again.

My husband and I loved this hotel because we were literally in the square. I were about 250 yards from the center, the main square, yet as soon as I closed the window and the curtains, I could not hear the noise. I only wish breakfast was included in the price. Also, excellent Chinese food two doors down from the hotel to left if your exiting the hotel or right if your facing the hotel. Also, don't bother with taxes or anything other than the train. The Tram number 9 or 4 leaves you steps away from the front door of the hotel. When you get off the train, just follow the train (direction) and it will be there, or just ask the drive he/she will show it to you. Its that easy.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in Europe. Most are small and uncomfortable this one however surpassed my expectations. If I go again I will definitely stay here again.

Great hotel, great location, will definitely stay here again when in Amsterdam!

Great location. It's within walking distance to many attractions. There's a tram stop just outside the hotel. There are also restaurants and shops around. Rooms are spacious and comfortable but room service needs to be improved.

The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive when I checked in and the amenities were remarkable. Quiet a remarkable hotel and location. Highly recommend it. Less than a minute walk to the one of the trams.

The location of this hotel is perfect - right on Rembrandt square but quiet inside. We reached nearly all sights by foot. Only negative is that our "double bed" was actually two twins pushed together and breakfast is quite expensive. Otherwise it was a great stay!

Staff was helpful but facility was a bit tired, could use some updating. Very dark.

Friendly, very helpful staff. Great location. Pretty much a 20 minute walk or less to most major attractions. Very clean and comfortable. Only a slight drawback. Know wash clothes??

Amazing location. Amazing staff- we arrived early and were able to check in and even upgraded to a larger room. The concierge was more than accommodating with reservations, cab rides, bike rentals etc. Breakfast was perfect, and room service from the amazing Flo restaurant was delicious. 10 out of 10 for this hotel. I will be back.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at Hampshire Hotel in Rembrandtplein during spring of 2014. The location was prefect, near the major museums (Rijk and van Gogh), bloomenmarket, canals, plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from, trams and buses run across from the hotel, and nightlife ... was non-stop! The staff was helpful. The room was clean. One thing that was missing from the hotel was a gym. Otherwise, Hampshire Hotel is great hotel to stay in AMS.

Great value & Location! 1/2 block from Rembrandt Square. No need for overpriced breakfast. Starbucks facing Rembrandt Sq. & many good cafes / restaurants around and on same street. Safe & convenient to everything. Quiet/clean/large rooms ( I always choose the upgraded Eden rooms) King bed, separate large bathroom, mini bar with auto-charge snacks.

The Hampshire Hotel was a nice hotel in an excellent location.

Visited several museums, did a bus tour of the entire city, enjoyed cruising the canals. Took a day trip to nearby Belgium. Enjoyed great foods at the many restaurants. Captured a lot of history with my camera. Wonderful getaway for my husband and I.

It was a great location and you could walk to bars, restaurants and felt safe.

The Hotel is in a great location right on rembrandt square. 10 - 20 min walk to every major site to see in amsterdam. the stuff was very professional and nice. the room was new and comfy. didn't eat at the hotel as there are many good cafe's and other places to eat right outside !

I came to Amsterdam to meet my friends, who were staying at a different hotel. When I just arrived, the check-in went flawlessly, except for the fact that receptionist did not mention the city tax that everyone has to pay upon check-out, but given that it is about 3 euro/day, it was not critical. I was given a room at the fifth (top) floor, and when I entered it there was a terrible smell, something like rotten food. I am not sure whether it was coming from the ventilation or from outside, but then again I didn't really want to find out. I demanded to change the room, and at first the receptionist denied that they had any rooms left, but after I insisted and asked her to look for rooms at their sister hotel, it turned out they actually had another room available after all, albeit a tiny one, and with a smaller bed. The smell in the room was so bad, however, that that seemed like an acceptable trade-off. Finally, another problem that I found was the air conditioning - it was blowing so hard even at the lowest setting that you couldn't really sleep, but if you left it off for long enough - the room quickly became stuffy. Otherwise, the hotel is ok - location is quite central, just next to Rembrand square, where the night life takes place - but it's not too noisy at the same time, or at least I didn't feel it. Breakfast is definitely overpriced and I didn't go for it, since there is a ton of nice cafes nearby.

we chose this hotel based on provious reviews and found them to be acurate. Cleanliness was the bigest issue followed by slow room service for just about everything. The desk staff, however, was very helpful. The decore is all grey and somewhat cold and derprssing. The biggest threat to booking online is that you may not get the room that you booked for as all rooms are on a first come basis when you arrive and the price is not adjusted. All in all, I would stay here again, but only if i checked other hotels firt and fcoulsn;t find something else. Stayed in a 3 * Red Lion when we returned and it was far nicer, cleaner and the staff more than helpful.

Easily accessible from Schipol via the train to Central Station and Tram #4 or #9 to Rembrandt Square (4th stop). Internet was fine with the cable and walking access to a good portion of exciting Amsterdam. Rooms were clean and convenient. The noise from the people coming out of the bars at 2-3 in the morning is not good on the front side of the hotel.
