Hampshire Hotel - Lancaster Amsterdam

The room was incredibly noisy. Outside voices and traffic passed right through the windows. The bathroom was tiny even by European standards and the entire floor was covered in water after a shower. Will not stay here again.

This was the third Hampshire property I stayed at in Amsterdam. It was the least impressive among them although it was an alright place for a short stay. The room was clean, just very small and standard zero frills arrangement as is most of the budget hotels in the city. They are maybe college dorm room equivalent. The lobby is small but comfortable and huge bonus of nespresso machine always on and available. Very hard to find a latte after 9pm in Ams. Staff at all the hampshires seem above the norm, and everyone here was great too. The zoo is across the street and you'll hear some great noises from there in the morning. Don't know what they are. Also a small and beautiful park adjacent to the property have te location a great feel when outdoors. The Coffee Art shop right next door has awesome breakfast sandwiches and coffee in the morning for a good price. You can catch the tram to anywhere and the hotel is a little out of the fray but still convenient. Bottom line a good spot for a solo traveler if the price is right. Not a room you're going to want to hang out in all day though or for extended stays in the city. Hampshire Eden and Hamoshire Manor both classier digs.

The Hampshire was excellent hotel for my work trip. The only downside is the Double bed is really two single beds pushed together, so there is a gap. Also the following FYI's 1) No A/C in the room, not big deal to me when I traveled but FYI 2) Bathrooms and Rooms would be considered small for Americans, frankly very small. Not uncomfortable at all but just small. 3) the Breakfast is Awesome 4) Location was great a 10 minute walk and you are downtown.

This hotel is located just over the bridge from downtown in a good area with lots of shops and a great bar across the road Service was great Rooms clean Very good

The staff were fabulous and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Regrettably, the room was cramped and some of the services were lacking...for example the TV in the room didn't work and there was no soap in the bathroom.

looking at all the super expensive hotels in Amsterdam this one is very basic, nbot far from the city center, trma stations are half a block away so you'll get to tourist places in 15 min, Free wifi and free coffe, all the basic stuff you need you'll get here for a good value and it's even better if you traveling with a samll group of friends

The hotel was good, But it needs to state it has no airconditioning. The window did not open much, and the provided fan was a joke (moved almost no air and was noisy.) The desk clerks were very helpful with luggage and directions.

The rooms were spacious and I think the beds were very comfortable. I had a great stay.

Overall Good Experience. Bottom line: Best for mid-range travelers who want to stay in Amsterdam. The hotel itself is good overall but average in terms of building/room quality and furnishings. It is a good value and economical considering location and very easy access to transportation. The good aspects: - Very good location. Tram to downtown, ATM, and places to eat all within 50 M - 100 M of the hotel. Good, safe neighborhood - Bed/Linens were clean and comfortable - Staff friendly and professional, quick to solve problems/answer questions. Bad aspects: - I would say worst aspect was the heating system, room was not cold but not particularly warm. Was difficult to take a shower and not get cold when we went during winter. - Room/carpet/bathroom slightly a bit old and worn, but is still acceptable and clean.

Nice place to stay for a night or two. Clean well kept but small.

It was nice hotel with nice room, except that you don't get WI FI in your room only in the reception. And I was staying in a room with 4 bedrooms alone.

Good location, within a walking distance to red light district and rambrandt square

great family hotel. ... what else can I say enough said;)

This hotel was a perfect home base for us in Amsterdam. Located very close to the city center (but far enough to not be in the craziness and noise), with two tram lines intersecting right on the corner. Location-wise, could hardly have been better -- there is also a bank ATM on the corner, and a decent Chinese restaurant for takeout (called The Happy Corner). The front desk service was warm and so helpful. There we were able to buy 48-hour transit cards and were given a map to the system, and verbal directions. They even volunteered to print out our boarding passes the morning of our international flights. The room was small but nice-looking. The beds were soft, with plentiful pillows, and provided a deep night's sleep. The downside: It smelled like cigarette smoke when we arrived, despite the hotel's non-smoking policy. And the room cleaning was perfunctory... they made the beds, but didn't replenish the in-room tea supplies or take away/wash the dirty mugs and plates. So, not perfect, but good for the price, and we had a nice stay.

Visitng daughter going to college there, the time of year not the best due to winter weather conditions. Hotel located away from the city core but close enough to get there by tram which runs by. Located nest to the Zoo. Resturants and bars near by so one could eat and drink in the area with locals, which was fun. Canal boat trips were great. took high speed train to Colgne,Germany to take in the Christmas Markets they are worth seeing. The architecture in Rotterdam is good to see.

I've stayed in Amsterdam several times. This place is just a standard 2 star with small bathrooms and small rooms. A good value if you are traveling alone in the Dam and just need a room you wont be in very much.Beds are fine.100% non smoking.Use Tram 9.

There is pleanty around the hotel to grab food, and a drink at night. Next time would pick something a little coser to more action.

A nice Hotel conveniently located if you plan on using public transportation in Amsterdam. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms are tiny! Still, if you intend to explore the city this Hotel can be a good base.

Came week early for annual meeting to enjoy one of my favorite European cities. Have stayed at this hotel before and like the quiet neighborhood. Rooms are small, clean and quiet. WiFi available in lobby. Hotel location 1-block from tram line makes transportation quick and easy.

The location is on a tram line and is about 1 mile from the train station. We booked the hotel for one night before leaving on a river cruise. The room was very tight, even by European standards. You could actually rest your head on the wall in front of you while sitting on the commode.
