This was a beautiful hotel and close to tram stop. My room overlooked one of the canals. Lots of shopping and restaurants.

A fantastic staff in all sectors of this historic hotel made me feel very comfortable. My 3rd time in this hotel and they always welcome me back. Amsterdam is my favorite city and there is so much to experience. Have made a lot of friends here and I will be back.

From the moment we walked in after a long day flying the hotel was wonderful. We were able to check right in even though it was early, the room was wonderful. We had a balcony over looking the canal. The location couldn't have been better. A very short walk to the museum district and a quick tram ride to Dam square. Shopping was all around us. One of the best hotels I've stayed in Europe. Our room was a good size and very comfortable, no problems at all. The bar and restaurant was nice. Very reasonable rates.

Enjoyed this hotel. Friendly and clean, good location to walk in all directions. The wifi did not work however in the state rooms for me

My 2nd stay at this fine hotel. I love the area: close to museums, Vondel Park, great nightlife and dining nearby. Love walking along the canals & exploring other sections of Amsterdam. I've made many friends over the years in the Leidseplein area.

Will stay here again on my next visit to Amsterdam.

I grabbed this hotel for a quick overnighter could not be more pleased for the regarding price. Great location for walking around the city. Room was large but cold, and the thermostat was finicky. Bed was a little on the worn side and softer then average, but hey, I still slept just fine. Breakfast is a great buffet assortment. and overall I would totally stay here again.

The hotel staff were great and very accommodating! The room was very clean. The bed was so comfy and warm. Great location within walking distance to practically everything. If you don't like walking there were 3 tram stops right out front to get you anywhere you wanted to be.

Nice hotel, little outdated and you can get some really isolated rooms with a view of the roof. About what you would expect in an older hotel.

We booked a so called deluxe room. The lighting was dim and depressing even when they added a dim standing lamp. The mattress was soft and when I sat on it, it was reduced to a sliver. Wallpaper was peeling. Chunks of plaster were missing around the window. The website promises upscale bathroom products and robes. We did not get that at all. We got one thin soap bar that turned to mush by the second day, no shower cap and a combo shampoo and body soap dispenser in the shower/tub like you might find in a gym. On the third day of our 5 night stay I showed the website to the manager and asked why I didn't have robes in the room. He stated that I could only get it on request. So I requested the robes. I asked another guest if her room was rundown like ours. She told us that she detected a bad odor from the carpet on arrival and was shown a room that was much worse and decided to keep the room with the odor. I then wrote a detailed e-mail with my complaints to the hotel manager. He offered to change our room on our last night. I responded that based on what the other guest told me that I had no confidence that another room would be better. He responded that I had one of the older rooms and that other guest also probably had one of the older rooms and that there are newer nicer rooms. The manager also said in his e-mail that we were supposed to have been given robes in our room and he did not know why we didn't receive them upon check in. The head of housekeeping came to see if she could make us feel better. We were offered lunch in the dining room for which we were not available as we were sightseeing during the day. Then we were offered dinner, which we accepted. Also, a bottle of wine with fruit was given to us in our room on the evening of my written complaint. On the last evening, new amenities arrived in the room. They were normal soaps (2), slippers and a shower cap. I was told that this hotel will be renovated in the future. I expressed that this did not help me at all. I don't understand why we were not given one of the newer rooms since we booked this hotel many months in advance. I also don't understand why they charge the same price for a rundown room as for a newer room. My husband and I tried to make the best of an uncomfortable situation. This room was not worth what we paid for it.

The hotel was charming and comfortable. The location was great for museums, restaurants. I had a comfortable room with a balcony. I loved the beautiful city of Amsterdam and this hotel added to the charm

The hotel was great. When I dropped my daughter off in 8/2014 to start her master's program I stayed at the hotel. I like it so much I recommended it to my sister who visited my daughter in November. When I returned to visit my daughter in April with my husband who is wheelchair bound we stayed here again. The accessible room was large and the bathroom was as well. The only thing that was bothersome was the outside Lift so we had to have someone from the front desk pull out all the luggage racks and open the door for my husband when we were going out. This was okay. But upon our return it was difficult to get someone from the front desk to operate the lift for my husband. It was rainy and cold and he and I stood outside until the front desk person was available to operate the lift. Also the elevators inside the hotel were tiny and my husband's chair and I hardly fit in the elevator. The door to the room opened with the push of a button which is great but it did not close quickly enough and when it did it did not completely latch so when we were going out we had to wait for the door to close and pull it shut completely or it remained unlocked. Regardless the hotel was great, it was so centrally located and the staff was friendly and helpful. If I return to Amsterdam I will definitely consider staying here once again. Oh, the food in the restaurant was rather pricey but the bar was great!! So, was the café.

the hotel is in the best location just wonderfull

This hotel was excellent. The location was amazing, we were able to walk just about everywhere and a plus was the bus from the airport stopped right in front of the hotel. The rooms are very clean and the staff are all nice. The breakfast buffet is slightly expensive but it is really good, and the had mimosas, so it was worth it. I would definitely stay here again if I am ever in Amsterdam.

The hotel is a classic. Couldn't be situated in a better location. A charmer for a first time visitor. Less of a business hotel, as the floors creak and the hotel is showing its age. I love this hotel, but for work, i'll stay elsewhere. For pleasure, i'd gladly bring my wife there.

Nice place to stay. Located centrally and can walk anywhere. This was my third stay here and very accommodating. Cafe was always busy but I did not eat there. Too many other choices within the area. Great for people watching.

Putting aside the no running water for the first half of my day, the experience was average at best. The room was small and narrow, the TV did not work, and they didn't take away my room service until for awhile. You must be paying for the location as it is next to the casino. I will not return to this place.

The perfect location. Beautiful hotel and the front staff was so helpful in given us the information to all the places we wanted to visit.

Stayed in a deluxe room and although I didn't request, was given a canal side view. This hotel was a perfect location being so close to the Leidseplein yet once you rounded the corner away from the square, you were greeted by a quiet oasis with beautiful fountain out front. This is a perfect choice for an older traveler that doesn't want to be PART of the hubub, yet so convenient to trams and restaurants aplenty. The beds and pillows were so comfortable; it was like being enveloped in memory foam from head to toe. Huge pillows and 4 to a king size bed. Immaculately clean room with more cupboards and drawers than I knew what to do with. The only issue is the bathroom. There is plenty, plenty of shelving for storage of bathroom supplies, as well as hook on the door but the problem is with the tub. WARNING: be very very careful getting in and out. The tub is on a platform of sorts and so it is a huge leap to step in, and the tub is very narrow with sides that round so to even plant both feet on the bottom of the tub at the same time was narrow. It is also very slippery. there were several little grip strips but they did not much good. This needs to be replaced ASAP. The bathroom is small; I stayed by myself so could keep the door open so not a problem for me. Gorgeous flowers and painting adorn the lobby and interior walls. It always seemed very quiet in the hotel although it certainly was not without travelers. There was a large group checking out one morning and I never would have known all those people were there. No noise at night, very secure. Door locks after a certain hour and you have to be buzzed in. Elevator I only used twice-just for luggage carry up and down but very smooth and efficient. Stayed in room 5. Receptionist at check in was a delight. Note: if you are taking the connection bus 197 from the airport, it no longer lets you off directly in front of hotel but just off the other side by a park but you can still see the hotel from the drop off and it is close; just walk across the canal bridge and you are there. Entry to the hotel is not on the fountain side directly out in front but on the side closest to the canal.

The hotel from beginning to end was perfect. Dropped off in front of the hotel by the airport express bus 5 euros for the ride. Arrived early 10:00 a.m. and we were greeted and upgraded to a canal view, balcony room. The room was large and view of the canal was breathtaking. Location couldn't have been better. Transportation right outside the door to any locations in Amsterdam center and also the outskirts.Bustling square with theater, restaurants and entertainment within walking distance. Charming canal side dining, walkable city, wonderful friendly people. What more could you ask for?
