Stayed here for 2 nights in June when the weather was hot and muggy. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and the staff are exceptionally friendly. No problems with check in or out. The room looked recently refurbished and very clean. However, with the weather so warm there was no aircon in our room. We had a room facing the sun all day and despite leaving windows open and curtains drawn it was soooo hot. I asked for a fan but they had given out the few that they had. Also we had to have to window open through the night and it is next to a busy restaurant/bar so people were outside till late. Obviously if you're out partying yourself that doesn't matter but if you want to retreat from the hustle n bustle then this is not ideal. Both these factors lead to not a great nights sleep. Although Vondel park is an amazing place to go relax and is a 15 to 20 min walk. That said most things we wanted to do were a 20min walk (vondel park, Anne Frank, pedalos on the canal and cruise areas). There is a good tram network but we didn't use it. In conclusion. Amazing place is Amsterdam, the hotel would be 5 stars if it had aircon so windows could be kept closed. Therefore I would definitely go back if it was spring autumn winter months but not if it's summer time.
this was our third visit to Amsterdam and we have stayed in better hotels like Die Port Van Cleve and the times hotel. the location is good, though closer to Rembrandt square and not dam square as the place advertises. the rooms are small and bathrooms even more so. Cleaning service is bad, our cups we used to make coffee weren't washed at all. a crumpled paper had dropped in the bathroom in the morning and was in the exact same place when we came back in the night, which showed they hadn't cleaned the bathroom at all. Floors had water leaking through them, since this happened in our room the last day we didn't complain. theres a small bar/café right next to the hotel which can get quite noisy in the night especially if u keep room windows open. the staff at the reception is helpful bt this is strictly an average hotel. not too good not too bad.
We stayed after seeing the recent reviews don't bother with the old ones The hotel had obviously had some work recently and is lovely on the inside the outside does not sell the hotel so ignore this! The hotel was easy to get to from the airport one train to central station and then tram number 4 takes you straight outside the hotel! It is around 20/25 mins walk from the station to the hotel which we did on a number of occasions and it was fine Close to bars restaurants and clubs if that's your thing but close enough away to avoid the noise Most attractions could be walked to within 25 mins We did have just one grumble and our fault really we stayed in a lower ground room windows level with the path which we thought would be fine but it was noisy then in lorries early in the morning, people walking past talking in the night so didn't get a solid night sleep also the heating main unit must have been near our room as we could hear it banging in the night - this being said it didn't spoil our stay and we didn't complain but we would chose this hotel again but up a floor!!! Staff always helpful and great vouchers to save money on attractions in the reception area
This was a lovely hotel, when we arrived we had lost a case at the airport and staff at hotel advised us where many clothes shops were to buy clothes, near the end of the stay our card stopped working for our room and each time he saw us enter the hotel he came straight after us with the key for our room. The room was a lovely size would defiantly stay again
Pros Really close to centre, 3 minute walk to the club escape and a few other bars Modern Next to a busy bar On the canal Right outside tram stop to the centre Had everything you needed Cleaned every day Reasonably pieced Cons We had room 301 and when we opened the window we had the view of a wall which we found hilarious- I would recommend you pay the extra and get the canal view You have to push the door hard to open it which can be quite noisy The room is small but it didn't really bother us becuase we was only there to sleep anyway
I stayed here with my boyfriend for one night at the end of May. We arrived in Amsterdam just after 11am and went to see if we could drop our luggage off due to check in not being until 1pm and not wanting to carry our bags, they told us our room was ready and we could check in early and we went straight to our room (there is a locked cupboard to keep luggage too). I had paid for a larger room with a canal view and it was lovely, the room was a good/comfortable side and the bathroom was very modern and clean. The hotel is about a mile away from the attractions we wanted to see (20/25 min walk) such as the Anne Frank house however we didn't mind the walk down the canals and it was very close to the Icebar which we loved! It is only a 5 minute walk away from Rembrandt square which is best for the nightlife however far enough away that we didn't have any noise and the immediate area around the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and the hotel staff were very friendly to us. We would definitely return!
Lovely hotel, very central and perfect for a few nights get away. Very clean and ideal for what it's needed for. As some of the reviews mentioned it can be noisy if your in certain rooms but it's Amsterdam so what do you expect?! Would definitely recommend and be back again!
Brilliant location had a room overlooking the canal, brilliant price staff were helpful, and walkable from Amsterdam central station. Close to bars and tourist attractions such as the ice bar and Ann frank museum. Would definitely recommend.
I guess they have renovated the property in recent times. Rooms are small but cozy and enough for a comfortable stay. Staff is friendly and eager to help. Many nice restaurants nearby and walk able distance to the centre make it a good choice in limited budget.
Hotel was really nice. Key card was broken so ended upgrading us to a large room. Receptionists were not really helpful.... one ignored at times and just sat eating a takeaway with a friend. All in all for the hotel it was very nice to put your head down.
