My mom drove up from southern Iowa and I drove down from Minneapolis to take her to get a few tests done at Mayo in Rochester. This was a great place to meet and we had a very nice room. Nice breakfast, too.

The moment we pulled into the parking lot I thought- uh oh- this doesn't look good. Outside appearance was not maintained. As we walked down the hall to our our room, I noticed how dirty the carpets were. Inside the room there was some small pieces of garbage on the floor. The jetted tub was filthy. We had to wash it down ourselves before we would consider using it. At about 10-:30 that night we could hear the neighbors conversations. They weren't being overly loud, but it kept us awake enough that we called the front desk. They graciously helped us take care of that. At about 1 in the morning the other neighbors decided to use their jetted tub. It sounded like a freight train in our room.

Great for the price but I had my kids. They were excited to swim but the pool isn't heated and was ice cold and looked like there was mold on the steps of the pool and the pool room smelled like mold. The room and staff were nice, no complaints about them.

We've stayed here twice during the current ISU semester, and would stay again. Nothing fancy, but clean and quiet. No complaints.

Needed a respite from the over-priced motel accommodations in nearby town and this fit the bill.

Check in lady was rude, I asked her for a roll away and she said "well I don't know I would have to look" but never did or never even contacted me. She also made comments about my kids, before she knew they were with me. Breakfast lady was very nice, but all the food was out and she could of use some help as it was packed.

The rooms were a bit run down, but the lobby was nice with a big fireplace when you walked in. Had some issues with the breakfast area...food running out and dirty tables. I'm not sure they were ready for a New Year's Eve rush

Room was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Was a skip and a hop to ISU campus.

This hotel was good for the weekend we were there.

The hotel was very clean, warm, and inviting. The pool area was spacious and very clean. Upon entry in the hotel, an individual notices the fireplace, cathedral ceilings and homey decor. The room smelled fresh and was perfect for a family of five.

Great place to stay if you are visiting the college!

The room was comfortable, bathroom was a little on the small side. Staff was helpful and friendly. Pool was very cold.

Close to other great dining location and a very comfortable room.

Nice, clean place to stay. Easy access, next to gas station and close to freeway access. Good value for the money.

Charming lobby with fire in fireplace, Christmas tree, cocoa, jigsaw puzzle, friendly staft, But...plumbing problems and no off-hours maintenance. Toilet plugged, moved rooms, toilet plugged there too. We were given a plunger which was required every couple of flushes. Who wants to have to do THAT every time someone used the bathroom? This is a problem bigger than a single room, so they should address it SOON.

we had a great experience here. front staff was organized, helpful and friendly. breakfast was exceptional. new carpets less than 3 months old. lots of kids here for junior olympics, but place was quiet. came home late one evening to find our bathroom was flooding from room above and staff moved us in minutes to better room. rode the train and saw car races in nearby Boone. Ames is beautiful.

my two small children liked the pool. It was not too small. The breakfast had a nice selection. Helpful and friendly staff.

we needed a room for family weekend at Iowa state. the americInn was fine. I appreciated the breakfast buffet, but the coffee needed some improvement. we had plenty of hot water and towels, i just wish the towels were bigger to cover my expanding girth.

I really enjoyed my overnight stay. The hotel was in a quiet part of town yet close to the highway. The accommodations were very adequate and comfortable. The continental breakfast had ample selections and the coffee was hot.

the staff was very friendly. the rooms were clean and i would recommend the hotel to my friends.
