Both my partner and myself arrived in Positano at 2;30pm by boat for a 3pm check in.Upon arrival we found it incredible hard to find anyone. This place has no reception desk !!!so you'll find yourself walking like brown cows. After finding Rosa the somewhat manager and several frustrating minutes later we were placed on the phone to a lady telling us our room wasn't available and they had had plumbing issues. The lady on the phone informed me that we would be taken to a new apartment with all the bells and whistles, approximately half way up the hill, and to make our way to the middle of town to be picked up. Unfortunately nobody told us where to go so again we were walking around lost and confused with two suit cases. Eventually we were taken to heavens of Positano and placed in a hotel with the view of a wall. Upon recalling the lady i was rudely informed if i don't like it shove it and leave, after paying close to 2500 thousand dollars for 4 nights Thankful positano is a great place with wonderful food and WINE . This place is very disorganised and really isn't a hotel at all. The reviews speak for themselves.
I was pleasantly surprised with our accommodations. The room was steps to the beach. Great view of the ocean. Restaurants, shopping and nightlife all within close walking distance. Staff was friendly and helpful. Advice if arriving by car arrange a porter to meet you at the top of village. Cars can't drive into town .
We looked forward to this stay for a long time and when we got there we found dirty dishes with food still on the plates and cutlery, not only that the beds were atrocious and it would have been more pleasant sleeping on the rocky beach than sleeping on these beds. We consistently heard staff yelling at each other throughout the day and night. For the money we spent there to stay for five nights we were so disappointed, there so called kitchenette had less than bare minimum. This place is so grossly overpriced I would not recommend anyone stay there even if you had no were else to stay in Positano. Once you book in Rosa will take your credit card and take the money, there is no such thing as a refund to these guys.
We had no choice in staying at this place as it was the only viable option that was available for the dates that we stayed in Positano, We paid 688 Euros for 2 nights at La Caravella and we were looking forward to staying in a nice and pleasant apartment. What we got for that price was terrible. We received a room that was smaller than most hotel rooms and an adjoining bathroom that stunk of urine. The smell was so bad that if the bathroom door was left open, the smell would enter the room where the bed was. The smell did not improve after the daily cleaning staff had done their clean up of our room . The location is of the property great but it seems to be owned by someone who is exploiting the location to milk as much money from it as possible without putting anything back into the property or caring about the guests. I found it offensive that after paying 344 Euros per night, I was still expected to pay 10 Euros per day to get wifi!
The pictures you see of brochure rooms do exist, but they are the rooms at the front of the building not the rear and are the upper level rooms we travelled with 2 other couples and were given a ground floor 2 bedroom place the bedrooms are dungeons with no natural light ,below are the real photos of where we stayed the couch acted as the 3rd bed for 2 adults in a pokey lounge/ kitchen, the place is clean and well maintained, but lets itself down with not supplying a toaster jug or coffee making facilities or even a sharp knife there is just enough to get by but for the cost of staying there I would have expected more, rosa the person who oversees the place has a totally antagonist attitude to everything including anyone who stays there she understands most things in English unless your complaining about something then doesn't understand. This place is in a killer location but it really only deserves a 2 star rating ,problem is you won't know which room you're getting until you get there you may he lucky but on the other hand?
Even though we read some negative reviews, decided to stay here since it was on the beach... part of a couple weeks in the Amalfi coast. We arrived to find out that "something happened in our room" and they'd rebooked us in another hotel. Offering no explanation beyond repairs, and no other choices, they proceeded to be extremely rude to my wife and I... not offering anything in the way of assistance, barely even telling us the new hotel. Turns out the other hotel - L'Ancora - is a great hotel with killer room/views, but the service, attitude, and simply terrible business sense at La Caravella will ensure neither we nor anyone we know will ever stay there. Ciao!
We loved this place , if we knew we would have taken an appartment . Just everything , view , position , and the Manager she is the best. English not very good but what a lovely lady . Full of fun and never stops to help every body . Place is very clean and qaint. All the steps and path ways to get to here was really an experience . We would stay here any time . Resturants and boats really lovely . I would recommend this place to everyone one .
to get straight to the point what we liked 1. the position of this hotel 2. the size of the sea view rooms what we didn't like 1. this is not a hotel, just a place to sleep 2. the owner only knows English when it suits her 3. we were not told nor was there any signage to say that it costs 10 Euro per luggage to have it carted from to the hotel. We had the La Caravella org anise our transfer from Naples . At no stage were we told that the transfer can only take you so far before you have to load your bags onto a smaller vehicle , nor were we told that it would cost 10euro per bag to do so 4. we booked and had confirmed two seaside rooms . When we arrived we only got 1 , we were sent out the back of the building to sleep the other 4 in the party 5. when we protested the owner pretended not to speak English 6. we were charged 100 euro for a roll out bed for 1 night 7. entrance is hard to find Don' t spoil your holiday and impression of Positano by staying at this place
This property is advertised as a hotel on a lot of websites but its actually a basic 2 star lodging facility. The room is very basic and tiny with just the necessities. The only advantage is the location which is right on the main beach of positano. If you don't intend on spending time in the room then this is ok. Don't expect anything fancy or a hotel vibe. The owner Rosa is very sweet and helpful. It's definitely not worth the price we paid but we couldn't find anything else hence booked it.. The Wifi is not free.
We booked months ago for a sea view room in this residence. We arrived early in the afternoon and have been asked to leave our luggage for the time needed to prepare the room. We went for lunch outside and came back to see that our room was facing the cliff. We complained and explained that we booked a sea view room, paid for it and want to have what we booked for. The staff was so rude that they shouted at us, accusing us of lying concerning the booking. We provided the confirmation but they absolutely didn't care about this proof, just saying that sea view for one night is not a reasonable demand (why did they sell it?!?!) and that we should be happy because this room has a third bed and is more expensive (we travelled as a couple and absolutely didn't want a third bed!). We called the manager who accused the management system (which is obviously only their overbooking system!) and told us that as a commercial gesture, we won't pay the extra charge for being in a 3 bed room!!!!!!!!!! They offered us to cancel (the entire city was booked at the time) or to "deal with it". They also forgot to mention the a/c wasn't working so when we came back after this long and upsetting day in our "cupboard with cliff view", we had 27 degrees in the room and had to keep the windows open facing the cliff with the a/c generator of the other rooms just next to our window. The noise was so loud that we hardly manage to sleep for a few hours. The total bill for this nightmare including stress was €300 for one night!!!!!! This is one of the worst hotel practice I have ever seen. I should also mention that a poor Australian couple arrived during our argument with the manager, to hear that the hotel was overbooked and so they couldn't have the room they booked for. They stayed in the street with their luggages without a word of excuse. Stay far from this place! This is a proper swindle!!!!!
