First of all, the view of Amalfi and the sea is breathtaking. When we were being delivered to our room I noticed water on the floor and pointed out a leak coming from the ceiling. The gentlemen immediately called the front desk and within minutes, literally minutes, they moved us to another room. We didn't have to go back to the front lobby and wait, they moved us right away. The breakfast they serve was the best of our experience on the Amalfi Coast! The servers in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner were all delightful. We didn't find the front desk staff to be that warm and friendly but we didn't let that get to us. The walk to town is a little scary as the road is narrow but you only need to be on the main road for a short time. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
This hotel is not perfect for reasons I will explain, but I have still scored it a 5. This is because: Location is ideal. 15 min to walk to amalfi centre (yes there is a road walk but everyone does it, traffic is crazy, but seems to be the Italian way. Would not be suitable walk for less agile who may not be able to navigate this so well). Amalfi centre is perfect base to explore the coast. We used water taxis and 1.30 Euro bus tickets to visit some beautiful places! Awesome views from everywhere. Clean rooms, communal areas and pool (hard to keep clean in October too). Accommodating staff. We asked to move room due to noisy neighbours, they found us another similar room with similar views. We asked to contact rep, and they made calls for us. Did not eat in hotel except breakfast as we wanted to eat out in amalfi. Breakfast really varied and great views from breakfast room. The negatives were only that the pool was not heated (October so a bit cold), the sea/‘beach’ jetties are rusting due to the elements. No fridge, tea or coffee making facilities in room.
My mother and I spent four nights here recently, including my birthday. I have never experienced such WONDERFUL, happy restaurant staff in my life. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace and dinner every day - the same staff frequently were on both services (they work very hard!) and they are exceptional. we felt emotional when we were saying goodbye to them! Thank you so much for looking after us so well!!
We are having honeymoon. We have 1 week in this hotel. So on the second day of our staying there was no hot water in the shower!!! Tomorrow there will be 3rd day without water! And they do not have any idea when they fix it! The hotel do not suggest anything: no compensation, not complements, nothing!!! Also we didn't have shower gel since second day of our staying. The housekeeper does not wash glasses during cleaning the room. There are three day without changing linens. So there is not 4 star hotel... We live in their the most expensive honeymoon suit, but it doesn't matter for the staff... unfortunatelly!
We stayed for 5 nights. LOCATION The hotel is, like most others, on the side of the hill. To get to town you have to walk along the side of the road, which is quite narrow and busy, then down 90 steps to the waterfront. The hotel also offers a shuttle but the last shuttle home is quite early! POOL The pool is down below the main hotel accessed via a lift. It is surrounded by deck chairs on various levels once again on the side of the cliffs. You can jump into the ocean if you like. The surrounds in this area need a major overall as effected by the elements. There is a drink service by the pool and towels are provided. RESTAURANT Our reservation included breakfast so we had it each morning. A reasonably basic offering but functional. Not up to the evolving trends with hotel breakfast offerings. I saw some guests getting items not on the standard buffet but saw no indication of what these were or how to order them and was not offered them. The best tables were on the deck outside but if you sat at a table that had previously been used before it was cleared the staff became annoyed!! We had dinner on our first night but it was reasonably basic. Lunch at the pool restaurant was also adequate but nothing special. ROOM Room was generally good but the bed was terrible as well worn meaning you constantly ended up in the middle! Housekeeping was good but showing the inevitable signs of wear in areas such as bathroom. RECEPTION Helpful with helping to call in Italian to make changes to bookings etc. HIGHLIGHT! The views are sensational.
I loved staying here! It was one of my favorite parts of our trip. The service was fantastic! The breakfast was great. The view of the beautiful ocean was the best part. My only complaint is that our room was below the dining room, so it was VERY loud. No sleeping in or napping possible. If I came back, I would ask to stay in a different room. I loved laying by the pool and swimming in the ocean. It was nice to have water access. It is located close to the town. Overall it was a great experience!
This hotel is perched on the cliffs overlooking the town. Although they advertise a "beach" it is in fact a series of rock terraces served by a lift (quite slow) from the hotel proper. These are adequate for sunbathing and there was always space for guests for the duration of our stay. The pool is small and becomes quite deep quickly. Access to the waters of the Med is easy from the sunbathing terraces but there are no shallow areas. The restaurant has a spectacular view but a fairly restricted menu, which verges on the "cuisine nouveau" style. Prices are high, but this seems the norm for the Amalfi coast. Breakfasts are ok if you are happy with continental, the hot choices are less satisfactory. Rooms! our first allocation was on one of the lower floors right behind the elevator and was really claustrophobic! Fortunately the staff were understanding (we were staying there two weeks after all!) and moved us up a floor and well away from the lift. All of the rooms have views of the coast. Getting in to town, there is a hotel mini bus that will take you there, useful if your legs are getting old like mine, but we were feeling a lot more fit by the end of our trip and well able to make the walk! The big issue is that there are no sidewalks - you have to walk on the very narrow, busy road. All in all, the staff are excellent and helpful, the rooms are scrupulously clean (towels changed twice a day) and are a nice size. Wi-fi is free and works fine in the rooms, I struggled at times to get a service in other parts of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel.
The Hotel is very nice. The views are amazing. The rooms were nice, clean and spacious. Enzo on the front desk is outstanding and was so helpful. No room service could not get coffee in the room. But my two biggest complaints are the Air Conditioning, it is terrible and when I complained I was told it is one temperature for every room how stupid. The room became very stuffy at night and was hard to sleep. My other complaint is the shuttle van schedule is terrible it runs 3 times in the morning and the same at night every other hotel had there shuttles every 20 mins show up in the square. Too bad otherwise it was a nice place to stay.
We stayed here three nights recently. We loved our room with the lighted fish sconce and the wave ceiling. We ate 3 breakfasts, two dinners and 1 lunch at the two different restaurants at the property. Food was very good. In the main restaurant they gave me a menu with no prices and a menu with the prices to my husband. So old world charming! The staff or waiters and waitresses could not have been nicer or more attentive to us. I think the pool area (with sea water, makes your skin soooo soft and a wonderful alternative to cholrine) and sun bathing areas were gorgeous. Many different levels, all cut from the cliff, so that you could be private if you wanted and access to swimming in the sea. The elevators are not those of your office elevator bank but I never felt unsafe in them at all. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the shuttle, not the schedule times but the stress of whether or not you would get on. First come, first served did not work out, it was more like who was the pushiest, not relaxing. Our last night they were having a wedding in the event space and we were treated to a fireworks show over the water with our digestif. A good one. MAGICAL!! Room was comfortable, bed was comfortable, shower was one of the better of our trip. Views are SUPERIOR!!!! Bravo, Miramalfi.
We had read some of the mixed reviews on trip advisor but the hotel was in a perfect location with breath taking views when you first wake up. We had booked a superior room to increase our our experience. On the first morning we were woken up at 06:00 after only 5 hours sleep to the staff dragging the breakfast tables across the floor above our room, but it stopped at 07:00 when they started the breakfast services. We thought that this was a one off due to it had rained in the early hours but it was not and we had a repeat performance again the next day. We complained at reception and they apologised and moved us to a new superior room directly below our old room. The room was a little bit smaller but had the same view but without a canopy above the balcony. After re packing and un packing again we started our holiday after this small blip. The bar is quite small and does not encourage the guests to mingle but the roof top restaurant or bar was not used or open that we could see. The views from this terrace was beautiful but wasted due to the area not being open. The staff were helpful and polite throughout our stay especially the waiters and house keeping. The only other gripes we had were when we had to ask if we could have a room after we had been checked out on our last day @ 10:30. They advised me to comeback on the morning of departure to see if we could stop in our room until we were picked up by Thompson's @ 17:30. They advised me that they only had the one room the honeymoon suite but we would have to pack and check out but they would transfer the bags to the new room once it was cleaned. I confirmed that this would be acceptable and told my wife. The first question my wife asked was how much is it. He did not mention any charges at all so after breakfast my wife asked at the reception and the day shift receptionist advised her that it would be a 100 euros due it was a suite and we were advised that this was reasonable. We were not happy with the cost of the room for six hours and a shower. To make it worse they only gave us the key at 14:00hrs and we only actually went in @16:00hrs for a shower and were collected @ 16:45 by Thompson's. The most expensive shower ever. Its a shame that this was the last memory of our stay in this beautiful hotel and our fantastic holiday.
