Antica Repubblica Hotel. This hotel is situated in the middle of Amalfi & the entrance is a little difficult to find as the front of the hotel is situated one block off the main street. The room we had backed on to the main street with a small balcony that overlooked the main street. The person on the front desk was really helpful in providing all the local knowledge with a local map. The room had a 4 poster double bed, a bath with a hand held shower over it. Breakfast was provided in the morning on the roof top floor of the hotel which was a continental style breakfast. The hotel was adequate for what we wanted it for was just a one night stay. The hotels on the south coast of Italy will never be like the Hotels one would expect to find in the USA. There is parking available at the hotel & we had to wait down at the town square for someone came up to us & identified himself that he was the hotels parking assistant. Once that was down & the car taken by the attendant, we proceeded to carry our cases up to the hotel, which is about 50-80 mtrs up the main street. No cars are allowed up there during certain hours. Parking cost 25 Euros /night
The hotel has an inviting atmosphere and the staff are welcoming as well as always around to give advice or help. The rooms are clean and organised, and the breakfast is excellent. I would definitely recommend!
It was a little tricky finding this hotel but thanks to the pictures they send it was like a treasure hunt and led us right to them. This was recommended to us by a work collegue and it was perfect. The rooms were right on a main alley/street in Amalfi so we could stand on our balcony and take everything in but very quiet too. The air conditioning worked sooooo good and we slept very well. There is everything you could every want all around you and the staff was amazing and gave us such good advice on tours and where to eat. Christian you were amazing!!! Thank you from the bottom of our hear tfor making our trip so memorable. It had breakfast included on the roof terrace and it was so relaxing sitting there in morning and evening.
Amalfi and the coast was definitely the highlight of our trip to Europe this year, and this hotel, its manager Christian and other staff like Maria, were a huge part of getting our vacation off to a great start! For us, this hotel had a lot of positives and no real negatives (even the wifi was less unstable than other hotels we used later in our vacation ;-)). Great people: Christian was awesome, very communicative and responsive (via whatsapp). He arranged for our transfer from Rome FCO to the hotel, and then later from Amalfi to Rome via Pompeii - all for much less than what one finds online. When our flight was delayed 4 hrs, he served as the vital communication link between us and the van-driver, getting them to reschedule. He was also in regular contact with the van driver during the almost 4.5 hr drive. Christian also helped with suggestions on what to do, offered to make reservations, etc. Maria manages breakfast on the terrace; comes across as a bit stern but you can tell she loves taking care of her guests! Great location in the heart of Amalfi, minutes from the bus/taxi/ferry stations, beach, supermarkets, main square, cathedral, shops and restaurants. Extremely well sound insulated doors and windows. Yes, it is 20+ steps from the street to the hotel, but they do have free baggage service that transports bags and people from the bus/taxi/ferry station to the hotel in golf-carts. Stairs leading to the breakfast terrace are steep, but our family, which included senior citizens, didn't find it difficult at all. The view from the terrace of the surrounding mountains complements the fresh food extremely well! Comfortable rooms with character. Doesn't feel like your usual, chain hotel room at all. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Powerful AC. Modern bathroom with nice toiletries. Good breakfast served by Maria. Fresh fruits, meats, baked goods and extremely satisfying coffee, all served in pleasant surroundings.
My two friends and I were starting a seven day walking trip from Amalfi to Positano, The walking group selected the hotels for the trip but we arrived a day early and stayed at Hotel Antica Republica. This hotel was much nicer than the next hotel we stayed at booked by the trip. We stayed in a triple room and were pleased with the accommodations. The staff was excellent the breakfast great and it was in the heart of downtown. All of the hotels we stayed at had many stairs so this was not a surprise. And I would consider it standard for most hotels. That being said people visiting Amalfi, should plan to pack lightly since you will likely have to haul your luggage up multiple flights of stairs!
Our room was delightful, overlooking the main street, with balcony. Christian is a first-rate host/manager, and I cannot imagine our stay being as great as it was without his professionalism, attention to detail, friendliness, and assistance regarding our activities and needs. We arrived on a late flight to Naples--Christopher arranged for our transportation, and added the costs to our hotel bill, so we had no negotiating to do at all. He also remained on the job late that day, to welcome us to the hotel. The rooftop breakfast is amazing, beautiful setting, and the location of the hotel in relation to the town is perfect, close-in, etc.
My wife and I recently stayed at this very nice hotel. The reception we got from Christian the manager at the front desk was very warm and informative. Whenever we had questions about transportation and best times/days to go to various sites along the coast he was very helpful. The room was very nicely furnished. The breakfast on the rooftop terrace was very filling - omelettes, coffee and nice fruit and breads were available. The location of the hotel is excellent. Its a 5 minute walk from the harbor and close to many different stores and restaurants.
Comfortable and well located in the centre of town... The hotel might be 3 star but the staff are 5 star... Christiano and the team took wonderful care of us from the moment we booked. Considering a stay in Amalfi ? Put this one on your list !
This Hotel could be hard to find but a few days before we arrived Christian at the front desk emailed us and told us exactly how to get there and it is very central and close to the Cathedral. The room was great with a balcony overlooking the main street but not big enough to sit on. The room was spacious and the bathroom too. Also fitted with a whirlpool bath. Air con worked well and wifi was good. Breakfasts were simple but filling served on the rooftop which in summer must be great. Christian stood out as our mentor and guide. A really nice stay. We stayed two nights in April 2017
We stay here for 6 nights. Friendly staff and clean rooms. breakfast if the weather is good on the terrace. We stay in a room on the second floor wit a balcony. Only minus was the noise from the street at 6 in the morning, we have not complained because we liked the balcony for a drink in the evening and a snack. But we have a enjoyed the overall stay.
