The man running the hotel is lovely and he definitely has everything sorted. The breakfast is delicious and the views are stunning. However if you are starting the Tour du Mont Blanc it is a bit out of the way. We had a twin room with garden view and it was very small. I recommend staying in Les Houches next time.
We have stayed at La Campaules on more than one occasion now, both individually and as part of a group and will stay again. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the food and especially the breakfast is very good value for money and of a high quality. The views of the glacier from the rooms is second to none. It's perfectly located for walking the Tour Du Mont Blanc and a welcome bit of luxury after refuges!
Was in this hotel for 2 days on 30 June and 01 July 2017. Slightly far from Chamonix town centre. The rooms facing the mountains give an excellent view ..And the small balcony ...One can enjoy tea coffee with the lovely breathtaking views of French Alps. The rooms are cosy. Wooden hence quite comfortable inside the rooms. There are no tea or coffee maker in the rooms and one needs to carry his own electric water heater. Air-conditioning is not required as the temperature during summer is very comfortable. Heating is required during winters. The breakfast spread is excellent. No idea if lunch or dinner is available as had both in the town. Overall an excellent experience.
My husband and I stayed here while hiking part of the TMB and were very pleasantly surprised by how nice everything was. The views from the hotel were stunning and dinner and breakfast was served with a view. The food was yummy and the rooms were comfortable and rustic. We would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers!
Stayed for three separate nights whilst on a walking tour. Each time was a different style of room and all were excellent, even the so-called small single on the fifth floor which still had a double bed in it. Rooms were all spotless. Breakfast was very good and the meals at dinner were excellent. Staff were all very nice and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
Stayed here for 2 nights, what a great hotel it was, we had a room on the back which didn't have a view but when we were there it was so hot we didn't mind one bit as the sun didn't heat up the room. It was a large open plan room very clean and spacious. We were on a motorbike and were given a private place to park right next to reception. Staff were very friendly and helpful, even giving us recommendations as to where else to visit on our journey home. Didn't have any meals here but the restaurant looked lovely, will definitely stay here again if in the area.
We were expecting a simple place with clean sheets. We got a lot more than we expected and a few surprises too! On arrival we asked the manager about the room size and the amenities for 3 friends staying for 5 nights, and to our surprise we were subsequently upgraded to superior accommodation, with two bathrooms, two televisions, wifi and a balcony. We offered to pay a supplement and were met with a shoulder shrug and a firm "NO, not necessary". This Hotel was located out of Les Houches Village in a quiet and exclusive position opposite Mont Blanc with breathtaking views. The property was spotless, the quality of the bed and bedding was as good as any 5 Star Hotel and the amenities were excellent having been maintained and updated to a high standard. We only ate breakfast, which had many choices for all tastes, hot or cold and as much as we required. The staff at Les Campanules were it's biggest asset, they were pleasant, friendly, helpful and could not do enough for us. They were all utterly committed, consistent and professional. Because of the Hotels location, being out of the village we ordered a Taxi on the first evening to go to a local restaurant, a 4 minute drive away and we were charged 30 euro which was extortionate. When we had finished our meal we then decided to phone the Hotel at 10pm and they called one of their staff who subsequently drove us back in his own car. On subsequent days we were chauffeured by the staff in the Hotels own mini bus to the Bus/Train, ski lift and hire shop. And with just a couple of minutes notice they would simply drop what they were doing and come and collect us when we wanted to return to the Hotel from our day out or when we were returning after a meal in the Village. On our final day we had a few hours to spare before being collected to go to the Airport, so decided to go to Chamonix for a few hours. We took the bus and returned to the Hotel to find our bus had arrived early and all our luggage had been carried to the bus and loaded by the Hotel staff, this was prior to them collecting us at the bus stop and bringing us back to the Hotel with the owner and manager then coming out to shake our hands, wish us good luck and bid us farewell. Between us all we have stayed in hundreds of Hotels, but never before have any of us experienced such a class act as the Les Campanules and its staff. We felt that we had been treated like Royalty!
Only just got round to writing this review but its from our stay in July 2016!! We were part of Exodus holidays and doing an accent of Mont Blanc. I was a little apprehensive about a 2 start hotel but I needn't be. We stayed in 3 different rooms as we left the hotel to do a familiarisation trip then came back then 'did' Mont Blanc and came back for our last night. Each room we had was very different. The first was a large room and had an open plan bathroom and the toilet was behind a glass door, not to our taste but was fine for one night. The second was at the front overlooking Mont Blanc, a small room but never the less cosy and the last room we had was in the 'loft' we had two large beds and a sloping ceiling, I only banged my head once. Every time the hotel had hot running water and the rooms were clean and tidy. The breakfast was adequate with croissants, fruit, bread and cold meats and cheese. There was a machine to make coffee. They ran out of fruit one day as the hotel was very busy but it wasn't much trouble for the lady to get us some more. We had lovely evening meals. It was a set 3 course menu and all the food we had was excellent with a good choice. Yes as previous reviews the reception, bar and restaurant are run by about 2/3 people but we didn't have any problems when we were there. The bar drinks are a little expensive for a 2 star hotel but I guess they charge a premium as they are out of the way. They are up hill from the main road and train station etc, but it was good pre exercise for what we were about to partake in! We were given free travel tickets to use on the bus and train, make sure you get a timetable also. The staff in this hotel were very polite and friendly to us and we didn't have any issues or problems whilst we stayed there, would recommend.
This is the second time we've stayed as a group of four friends skiing locally. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Les Houches and is about a 15 minute walk to the town. Situated at the top of a short hill it can be quite challenging at the end of a long day. However they run a shuttle bus for clients to either the train station or Les Houches so it's no big deal. Please bear in mind the bus is available all day through to about 6:30pm, just call the hotel and let them know where you are. Rooms are clean and functional (and with comfortable beds!) and the staff are all very pleasant and helpful. I made one minor mistake and I left my helmet complete with GoPro and gloves at Les Houches station on a seat in the waiting area and only realised once I was on the train to Chamonix. I called the hotel and they immediately sent Kevin to go and pick it up and meet me at the next station. I can't thank them enough and that's service for you. Thanks to Vincent for putting up with us enjoying ourselves in the bar late at night and I would have no issues staying there again.
Few things went wrong since the time we arrived. At first the check out day was wrong (1 day earlier), after we got to the room the view was just what I didn't expect, cause obviously we paid to have the Mont Blanc view. To see the Mount Blanc I had to put my head out of the balcony. We could hear the kids banging from the next room. At the same day we've tried to book a table at the restaurant's hotel but they were fully booked, even when we tried to book a table 2h before, always a problem with that. After we talk with the receptionist, we've swap the room on the next day and they gave as a table at 21h00m. When we've got the restaurant was no booked table for us, it was no information at all from reception. We order 2 beef steaks well done cooked, when they arrived to the table were rare, we send them back and they return medium/medium well. Even the French fries were the same just to realised how fast it was cause mine had ketchup on and they gave me the same, also we dined a few days after again and I ordered tuna steak and they brought out a pork joint which I couldn't be bothered to mention my order so I just eat. Over all experience they should have more staff on. The staff was very kind and friendly and always tried to improve and sort it out the problems. Anyway the location is just amazing!!!
