Mattress was old and sunk in. Pillows were square decorative pillows for bed. Room was old. Tv speakers sounded like they were going to blow out.
Loved everything about this hotel. Staff was so nice and helpful above and beyond! Our room was clean and very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were nice as well, and the guest laundry was right next to the pool so I was able to wash clothes and be with the rest of the family. Location was great, near shopping and many places to eat. Would definitely stay again!
Clean, fairly updated, convenient and reasonable priced
Extremely pleased, will definitely stay here again. Very clean.
This facility was above average in most every way. The room and total Motel were in excellent condition. Pool was large and very nice.. Breakfast was average, but adequate. Shopping options for necessities were nearby. .
We enjoy travelIng and seeing the country, but realized that as Michiganders, we had not done a lot of traveling in Michigan, so we decided this year we would. We went up the West Coast and into the UP to several major sites with some stops at Great Lakes Maritime sites on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, and of course visits to as many lighthouses as possible. We also wanted to include Lake Huron, and chose Alpena as a stop. Within an hour of Alpena there were several lighthouses and Thunder Bay was the site of many shipwrecks. We were not disappointed with the beauty and historical significance of the area, and will definitely return in the near future so we can spend more time there.
The rooms are slightly dated. Breakfast was good. Can't complain it was in expensive which was in our budget.
We were greeted in a very professional way. Friendly and helpful. Hot tub turned my shirt blue!?
The staff was friendly, the room was clean and everything in it worked properly. However, it was postage stamp sized. We are on a long car trip and therefore have a lot of luggage. Because the room was quite small, there was barely room to bring in our two bags, two laptops, camera bag and food cooler. The air-conditioner was set up so that it blew cold air directly on the bed. The only option was to turn it off and let the room get hot and stuffy. All in all, although the bed was comfortable and room equipment worked, we felt like chilled sardines stuffed in a small can.
The room was clean and the staff very friendly. Amenities were great especially for the value!
The king size bed was extremely comforable. Clean and well appointed room. Indoor pool was quite large. The receptionist was very helpful in suggesting restaurants for dinner. Not far from donwtown or the lake. A very nice place to stay for viewing Lake Huron, and colorful fall leaves.
Room was clean, staff was very accomadating, food was good....The only concern was the employee smoking area was just outside the front entrance...not a pleasant sight or smell.
It was a nice and peaceful night and I had a great time. Hotel was in a great location as everything was nearly within walking distance. Looking forward to going there again next year.
When I first arrived to the hotel, the staff was not friendly and looked at me like I was dumb when i checked in. They also asked for my card so they could bill it right then and there, I told them it was already paid for and they said they dont care they were not paid for it yet. I told them I always book with orbitz and I have never had to pay with the hotle when staying they only take my card to have on file in case of other charges. They then charged me a higher rate for the night then what I booked and the lady kept dissin on orbitz telling me never to book with them. I told her i have never had a problem til now. Then i asked when check out was and she said its 12p but i can stay later they will call when they get ready to clean the room. no one called and when i went to check out they told me I was late. I then explained to the lady what was said teh day before and she rolled her eyes. So i said i would enevr stay there again and she said fine she will wave fees. The room was dirty, bathroom soooooo small, the walls paper thin, the floor even though it was a first floor when you walked on it it was so noisy. The bed hard as a rick and smelled. Nothing was great about this hotel!!!! I will never stay there again. I booked with holiday inn for the last trip i went on to Alpena and i loved it. Pay a fee more dollars a night and you will def be happy, i promise. And the staff was so nice compared to best western wheer they were rude and just horrible!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are traveling to Alpena this is definitely the place to stay.
