Again, it was the right decision to choose the Lindner Parkhotel in Oberstaufen for our New Year's vacation. In our opinion, this is The Number One hotel in Oberstaufen for location, service, food and fun and we checked them all out. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, the rooms are clean and have a wonderful view over the Staufen Park and mountains (make sure to book Southern Exposure), even I wished they had bigger bathrooms. If you include breakfast and dinner in your reservation, you won't regret it. The rich buffets and served courses consisting of a large choice of local and international gourmet dishes are high end and hard to beat by any restaurant in town. The New Year’s Eve Gala with life music was also very enjoyable. I would also recommend reserving a parking spot in the underground garage during Winter months so that your car does not get trapped in the snow when parked outside. A special Thank You to Mr. Mueller and your entire team at the Lindner Parkhotel and Happy New Year.
Oberstaufen is a very picturesque large village in the Allgäu region of Southern Germany. Approximately 2 hours driving by car from Zurich airport Munich 3 hours and Memmingen just under an an hour. There in a train station on the main line from Lindau to Munich and a hotel shuttle bus on request. There are also plenty of taxis. The village can be walked from one end to the other in a straight line in about 20 minutes. The hotel is beautifully situated on the Oberstaufen Park practically in the centre of the village. Plenty of window boxes with wonderful geraniums on every balcony South facing rooms look over the terrace and park, and north facing rooms the small road and a bridge. As the room is empty most of the day it doesn't affect too much. The road is certainly not noisy. Check in was a pretty painless affair. There is no designated help for luggage (there is a trolley available) and I saw most people carrying their own. I was reluctantly asked if I wanted help and I think it would be available for elderly people. In general the reception staff was pleasant and helpful but not that always knowledgable on the Oberstaufen card. This is a village guest card and give various discounts on lifts and other activities. It also gives access to the free village internet service Oberstaufen Public so if you are having your coffee and cake in the village (instead of at the hotel) you can still be connected. Internet in the hotel was good and I was given a free login as they said the public hotel service was not so strong. The whole hotel is immaculately clean and well kept. That goes for the bedrooms as well which have plenty of space, shelves and a drawer with a hairdryer. The Bergwiesen spa treatment area is reasonably equipped and doors lead out from treatment rooms to a green area and herb garden. Treatments pricewise are a little on the high side for Germany but it is a good hotel. Products used are mainly Clarins which was nice. There is a basket with a pool towel and a spa towel with slippers and a robe. I had to ask to change wet towels when I went up to change at lunchtime as there were no towels by the pool or in the spa. Understandable on one hand that it keeps cost down but I wouldn't have minded seeing a few towels elsewhere. The outdoor pool area is not large but sufficient. A few more umbrellas wouldn't come amiss. The water is heated but still refreshing. The indoor pool is good and has a whirlpool in the hall as well. Both pools are 1.35 deep with no shallow end so not so good for children. There is a sauna and accessories, steam bath and plenty of relaxing space. Exercise classes are held in the mornings except Sunday. Three sessions with the last one before lunch being in the water. Walks are arranged in the afternoon and they were quite gung-ho which would not suit everyone including me. I went off Nordic walking instead and there is one afternoon where there is an introduction to the sport. The trick is just to do what you feel comfortable with. The food is fabulous and all kudos to the kitchen.I had the Logi menu full board (protein and vegetables) and was never hungry. I did change the lunch menus to the evening sometimes as I found the evening meals a little too big for me and I prefer more at lunchtime than in the evening. All requests were met without a problem. The buffet breakfast and the buffets in the evenings were excellent. Fruit was fresh and never looked tired and everything was promptly refilled before being empty. Great. The lobby area is not large but pleasant and there is a piano player in the evening. There is also a dedicated bar. Even if you have half or full board, drinks should be signed for and check at the end all your are your own. On my bill it I had extra from another table the same evening but at a later time in my name without a signature. Definitely not mine as I was already horizontal clapped out from the sports all day. Just something to keep an eye on. I stayed a week and overall the stay was very good and location excellent. I would say this is not particularly a hotel for families with children, or people with disabilities who found too many steps difficult. Mainly from the indoor pool to the Spa area. There is plenty of life in Oberstaufen and I would recommend the hotel. .
Very nice hotel...easy parking...in teh city center..friendly service..beautiful comfy room..enjoyed it....breakfast out standing...well the weather was bad..but that is not the hotels fault..and yes i would come back.and yes the wine we had in the afternoon was a proper size and enjoyable
The Lindner Parkhotel in Oberstaufen is part of a hotel chain, but the always friendly and very helpful staff who is mainly working there since a long time, makes you always feel welcome and at home. The rooms are very clean, the service fantastic, the breakfast buffet a true delight and if you chose to include the dinner arrangement, this is absolutely first class. The General Manager doesn't hide behind closed doors. He is a very caring and approachable person who is always around to make sure that every aspect of your stay in this hotel meets and exceeds your expectations. That's probably why the majority of the guests are repeat guests for many years. At this point, I would like to thank all the staff members in this hotel for their excellent service and we are looking forward to our next trip to the Lindner Parkhotel in Oberstaufen.
Stayed two nights during August. Staff very friendly and helpful, English was well spoken by many of the staff. My 2nd floor room was spacious and overlooked the car park and railway but was not too noisy. Decor was typically Bavarian. Food was good especially the evening buffet. I did not have chance to make use of the many hotel facilities. There was one downside though, the music in the bar went on to 11-30 pm and could be heard and felt in my room. On the whole, I would recommend this hotel.
We booked the gourmet weekend including a full course dinner both evenings and it did not disappoint us (very nice menu on Friday and buffet on Saturday) The room, a first class maisonette (bed upstairs) located in the penthouse (only reachable by stairs), had great views to the Kurpark and was very comfortable and well equipped. The Spa was surprisingly empty although the hotel seemed to be pretty full, which was a plus. We could also swim in the outdoor (lukewarm) pool while snow was falling :D. We also booked a massage in the spa, but it did not amaze us. Service was very nice and helpful at all moments (sometimes a bit too much). All in all a very good hotel, a bit expensive, but definitely good value for money.
Stayed there 22, 23 Sept 2015. Had a lovely room overlooking the garden and the park. On Sunday morning (23rd), there was a fine band concert on the far side of the park, lasting for ninety minutes...quite a treat, apparently held each Sunday. Breakfast was the usual wide-ranging German buffet, found in the best German hotels. The dinner each night was delicious and served nicely. Our visit there carried us back to memories of the '50s,'60s, and '70s when we lived and traveled extensively in western Europe
I traveled with a group of co-workers. We all liked the hotel. - Awesome breakfast with lots of choices. Try the white sausage. - Helpful and friendly staff - The building was built in a ski lodge style. The bathroom looks like it was recently remodeled and modern. - July is super hot and humid. There is no AC. You open the door to get cooler air. At night the town is super quiet. There is no noise unless your room faces the back, then you hear cow bells. - Easy walk to town (the town is small). - Very scenic drive to the town from a major airport. The scenery is like from that movie "The Sound of Music". - There is no iron in the room. They will do it for you for a small fee.
Clean, classic bavarian hotel and spa with extremely charming decor. Spa facilities are amazing with indoor and outdoor pool to hang out on a sunny days. Green mountain views allowed me to enjoy relaxing days at the pool. Breakfast is amazing with lots of choices of great quality tasty traditional bavarian and international food. A lacarte menu is has large choice of typical bavarian dishes. Rooms are clean, renovated with comfortible bed and a choice of pillows. Probably the nicect place in the area. Hoghly recommend
Having never been to this area before I selected the hotel on the location and facilities and we were not disappointed. We arrived from Munich by train and the hotel is less that a 10 minute walk from the station. On arrival the staff were helpful and friendly and this continued throughout our short stay. Our room was lovely, spacious and well presented. We did a lot of walking in our short time so it was great to enjoy the leisure facilities to ease our joints. The breakfast was delicious and there were so many different breads we were spoilt for choice. The dinner was beyond our expectations and we could not fault any of the five courses the starter buffet was just too tempting to miss! If we visit the area again we will definitely be returning to the Linder Park Hotel.
