We had a good experience in this hotel on my first time in Benidorm. The beach is like 19 mimutes walking, it's in a quite area so you can sleep at night, not like other areas in Benidorm. The hotel has 2 pools, one in the rooftop and a bigger one in front of the hotel. The breakfast and the dinner was good.

I stayed at this hotel from 6-10th July along with 3 friends. We booked a quad room that had 3 single beds and a double sofa bed. We all agreed that it was the most comfortable sleep we'd had in a long time. The hotel staff were very helpful. They had good local knowledge and were happy to help with any queries we had. They would also call a taxi for us if needed. The hotel itself was very clean. Towels were changed daily and the bedsheets changed once in our 4 night stay. The food at the restaurant was lovely and there was plenty of choice. We never once went hungry. Soft drinks were on tap along with tea/coffee and local beer. The hotel was situated only a 5-10 minute walk from the beach. The roof pool was beautiful and refreshing as the temperatures climbed however the jacuzzi was broken beyond repair and has now been made into a garden feature. We went out each night we were there and on our return to the hotel we did see that there was Spanish music in the bar with a lot of couples doing Spanish line dancing. It was lovely to watch. I really don't understand why people are complaining about it being a Spanish hotel, if you want an English hotel go to Bognor!!! We all really enjoyed our visit and I'd happily return along with my husband and young children for a longer stay.

Stayed at this clean hotel but wasn't advised when booking that's it's a Spanish hotel for the elderly. The rooms are very dark and the air conditioning didn't work the entire stay. The staff were very helpful and the bar was reasonably priced with generous servings. The food wasn't great and the choice was very minimal. The best thing about the hotel was the towels, they were that good I brought one home!

Me and my husband came here for a weekend , and I must admit the hotel it's self its lovely , clean and the staff are very polite. however the food was a disappointment ( we expected this due to other reviews) however we are very fussy!! The 2 pools were Ice cold, couldn't even get in them they hurt they was that cold ( we did wonder why they was empty all the time!!) also there was no water in the jacuzzi ? . The tv was all in Spanish too. It's just a shame that the guests at this hotel are all very rude and ignorant ! Pushing past us to get food / get in the lift / to speak to the hotel staff. Dirty looks. I dnt no if this was because we was the youngest people staying in the hotel? As minority was 60+ so because of the rude guests we would not re visit this hotel!

If you're English and under 60 years of age, do yourself a favor and stay away! This is the worst hotel we ever stayed at it (couples in early 50). The room is dirty and old. It felt like a prison cell. We stayed on the 1st floor facing the "court yard". The problem was window and shade couldn't be opened because it was facing your neighbours 8 ft away. Now on to the food...it was absolutely disgusting, whatever wasn't finished at one meal it was carried over to the next. We pretty sure the prisoners at Giant Guantanamo eat better. Dishes are filthy. The hotel is full of Spanish geriatrics with no manners. There is no Internet service but you can go across to the cafe Bar Marin and use WiFi, which is what we're doing as we writing this review. All I can say NEVER AGAIN!!!

A truely great blend of old style with great service- the place to be in Havanna - it's one of the iconic Hotels of the world - the Location is fine - it is quite Close to the old town and has a beautiful terrace to enjoy a mojito

Very Spanish hotel, easy parking just behind the hotel in underground car park, 10 Euros per day. ( Ask for the underground car park). Caters mainly for elderly Spanish people who definitely enjoy themselves at the hotel, very little English spoken except for staff. Very helpful and friendly desk staff, if you ask then they will try to get you what you want. About 10 minutes walk to the old town and around a mile for the start of "The strip" Food is varied and catered for Spanish tastes, however it is well cooked and plentiful, good range of fish, steak, various grilled and stewed meats, free beer and wine with evening meal. Rooms are reasonable, clean and showers have good power, (we were on 5th floor) and balcony. Would go back. One drawback, for a large hotel, there is no WIFI, but just across the road(5 yards) at the Marin cafe you can sign on easily.

stayed at sol y sombra 4 nights all inc found staff very friendly food was fine rooms great it is mostly Spanish not a problem all inc my wife and myself were drinking branded spirits and amstell beer only problem we found rooftop pool has no bar.certainly consider going back here

Recently back from a stay at Sol y Sombra in Benidorm, Spain. The reception staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for them. With their help we were able to hire a mobility scooter and they were able to print out railway and bus timetables for us. The food was plentiful and varied. The domestic staff were very friendly and our room was tidied daily. We were the only English guests that week and enjoyed watching the Spanish Guests dancing in the evening. We would not hesitate in using this hotel again.

In winter almost all the rooms were occupied. Most retired people. Bed and shower oké. Food was very good. For young people nothing to do. But the sea is also nearby.....Its a disaster to park your car.
