My partner and I booked an apart at Hipocampos, Calpe. This was with booking. com Nothing wrong with booking.com, but we had to go through Calpe-rent-apart, who manage many properties in Calpe. We had no water for nearly three days! Many visits to their office, nothing was done until third day. They denied there was a problem!Marah, at the office was verbally abusive to us and other clients we met there. One young family stayed only one night. Then they had to find a hotel. It was only after contacting booking.com that Marah says she offered us alternative accommodation or even a full refund. This is not true, we only got an email from her after booking.com intervened. In the end we decided to stay as it was x as, a d all hotels booked. We were very calm, but our holiday was ruined by this agent. They had also printed the wrong address of their office on our paperwork. We have the written proof. As did other clients, who spent two hrs trying to locate office People need to be protected, please don’t book with these agents. I am not looking for compensation, just want others to be aware. We have travelled all over the world with booking.com. Actual accommodation is good, so have rated good, although had no water whatsoever til third day
Stayed for one week October 17. Perfect location for beach , bars and restaurants. 3-4 km walk to the old town at the other side of the bay. Good sized one bedroom apartment with large outside space. Booked with Alpharooms but not sure if all apartments would be the same. Apartment very dated furnishings with many items needing replaced. Broken sockets and light fittings. Broken blinds and door locks.Had to open an hour cleaning the bathroom and washing machine. Think we must have been unlucky as public areas were very clean. With a little money spent and a thorough clean of the bathroom, would be a great apartment 34B
We stayed on the 10th floor of Hippocampos, and had nearly a 360 degree view of Calpe, from the beach to Ifach and across to Las Salinas. We could hear some noise from neighbours occasionally, but this was not intrusive. Our apartment was clean and well equipped, light, bright and airy. The air-con was brilliant and it is hard to think of anything negative about the place. Our parking space was on the narrow side; only a problem if you have a very wide car really.
Small appartment - very noisy (the appartments above and next from you) - was not clean - you have a brush and mob to get the sand out of the appartment ( buy your own toiletpaper and cleaning products) - noisy drainage (wc) appatments above even during the nights - only one mirror in the place - small bathroom - no ventilation - small pool - no reception or contact? - disappointed as we paid a lot of money
I can't praise this place enough, super clean apartments, great security, superb views it really was home from home, cleaner only comes before you arrive and when you leave so you have to clean up your mess and make your own bed, staff were so accommodating our flight was an evening flight we stayed until 9pm for an additional €20 checkout was supposed to be at 10am, that was so helpful as we have young kids.. The resort is small but beautiful the beach is stunning..supermarkets are really close at least 4 in walking distance...
Booked coral beach apartments for 28 nights.had a free upgrade to hipocampos apartments overlooking beach and sea front.all apartments have a sea view.large balcony.fully equipped kitchen inc auto washing machine..oven.etc..only one draw back the sat tv has 420 channels, but only 2 english news channels..no corrie or eastbenders..wife not happy.apart from that really good.large bathroom, comfy bed, sun loungers on balcony and large outside table..we stayed feb so calpe was very quiet, if you want plenty of action go to benidorm.i drove from uk to calpe so had my own transport which meant we could travel around..lots of German and Dutch here.not many brits..and only found 2 brit type bars..but lovely place and 3 supermarkets , aldi, mercadona and cosum only 5 mins walk away.
We stayed for a week with our family of 4. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach that was sandy and quite nice. Beds were comfortable and the apartment was reasonably clean and quite spacy (2 bedroom). On the negative side there was a LOT of noise from restoring buildings (in low season). Wifi was very slow.
To get the keys for your apartment you have to get from the reception and the reception is four building away from hipocampos building.. ( which is annoying because they don't actually have the main reception at this building) also the receptionist were not very helpful at all with whats there to do in the area. tbf they didnt really care at all ... however the apartment was nice and clean however the bed were not comfortable at all. but we liked that during winter seasons you could use their indoor pool and that it was great location as its near the beach however there's not much to do in Calpe if you are planning on going there during winter seasons. theres no big shopping malls or any historic museums nearby.. Taxi from the airport to hipocampos cost us 95 euros each way. their town centre is like 40/1 hour away from the apartment if you are planning on walking or you could rent a car which is like 60 + euros per day .
Where to begin? When booking this apartment through Owners Direct I was expecting a privately owned property not a soulless corporate one. Arrival was very smooth, collecting the keys as per instructions due to the office closing at 14:00 on a Saturday. However when we inspected the apartment it was far from acceptable. It was dirty, in particular the bathroom and shower rooms. Around the bath was a layer of mould and the shower cubicle was black and orange with a build-up of mould and mildew. Added to this the beds had fleece topped plastic mattress covers, not only are these too hot to sleep on but every movement in the bed was punctuated with the squeak of the plastic moving. So remove the mattress covers we think, but the mattresses were so badly stained with body fluids there was no way that we were going to sleep on them without a cover. The bed covers were also stained and very dirty looking so they were immediately discarded. There was a sofa bed in the lounge and a single chair, both of which were stained with grease and general wear and tear, the chair in particular was disgusting. In the kitchen was the absolute bear minimum facilities, in fact not enough if we had been the six the apartment caters for. Simple things like a tea towel, ice cube trays, a tray to carry meals from the kitchen to the dining area or balcony would have been helpful and, at the price paid, expected. More concerning was the rusty microwave. I would also expect a hairdryer to be provided, but no. The WiFi was also intermittent, finding ourselves wandering around the apartment trying to get the best signal, which happened to be by the front door, which was neither convenient nor comfortable. Of course nothing could be done about our apartment until the office opened on Monday at 09:00. When we explained our concerns there was no apology just a statement that they would put right the things that were wrong, and to be fair they did to a degree, but we shouldn’t have had the issues in the first place. When we asked if there was an inventory for the apartment we were told ‘no’, when we asked if the apartment was inspected after use, we were told ‘no’. Then we requested on-site parking, by way of a goodwill gesture; this, again we would have expected in the price. We were informed that the Manager would have to sanction this so the request would be put forward and we would be telephoned with the answer, we eventually got our parking bay at the end of our first week. Fortunately we have a comparator to base our view on as our friends were renting a penthouse apartment in the same complex. They had a three bed, three bath duplex in block 2, closer to the beach, which was well equipped, clean and comfortable. They paid less per week for their property than we did for the two bedroom, two bathroom one on the fourth floor of block 3. The apartment block is in a brilliant position on the beach front, very conveniently located for the whole of Calpe, however this is not an apartment I would return to, but I would look for a different apartment in Hipocampos with a private owner.
Stayed in a 8th floor apartment this summer with our teenage sons. Great position by the beach, and in the heart of the promenade area with bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Fantastic sea view from the balcony, lovey big table provided, we virtually lived in this area. The appartment was clean, comfortable, plenty of hot water, and a bonus to have an ensuing bathroom with the double bedroom. Air conditioning was very good once we had worked out how to operate it. The public areas were cleaned regularly, and the lifts were reliable. The outdoor swimming pool was clear, clean and never ever too busy, and we stayed in August. We arrived late on a Saturday evening and it took a while to locate where to pick the key up from, but all the staff we had contact with were polite and friendly. I would definitely stay in this accommodation again, and thought it represented goofd value for money.
